A report has revealed that the Hisbah Police in Kano state has expressed displeasure at the gown worn by Yusuf Buhari’s fiancee, Zahra Bayero, at her bridal shower, which took place in Abuja on Tuesday.

Photo the gown, which went viral on social media, gathered different reactions, with many calling out Hisbah over its silence on the dress, which some claimed to be immoral for a Muslim lady.

Hisbah, known to enforce Sharia precepts in Kano, has reacted during an interview with BBC Pidgin.

Hisbah, through Sheik Harun Ibn Sina, insisted that Zahra is not above the law as he added that the bride-to-be ought to lead by example if she wants blessing in her marriage.

Lagos State Assembly Approves Reduction Of Ex-Govs’ Pension By 50%

The Lagos State House of Assembly yesterday approved the report of its committee on establishment which recommended the reduction of pensions of former governors and other affected officials by 50 percent.

The committee also expunged the provision of houses in Abuja and Lagos for former governors as stipulated in an earlier law operated by the state.

The Speaker of the House, Dr. Mudashiru Obasa, suggested that former governors should get two vehicles (a car and a van) instead of three as recommended by the committee.

He also suggested that the amended bill should provide that the cars be changed every four years instead of the three years recommended by the report.

Yar’Adua’s son, Aminu, remanded in prison for alleged murder

A magistrate court in Yola, Adamawa state, has remanded Aminu Yar’Adua, son of the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, over the killing of four people in an auto crash.

Yar’Adua, a student of the American University of Nigeria (AUN),Yola, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

In the police first information report (FIR) tendered in court by Zakka Musa, the prosecutor, the 36-year-old, while driving along Yola by-pass on June, 23 2021, was said to have been over speeding and in the process, crushed six people with his vehicle.

According to NAN, the report said four of the victims were killed in the accident while the other two were injured, with the victims all hailing from Sabon Pegi, Yola south local government area.

3 CNN staffers were sacked for coming into the office while not being vaccinated against COVID-19, CNN head Jeff Zucker said in a memo to staff yesterday.

CNN President told staff that the network fired three employees who came to work without getting a Covid-19 vaccine, as the company steps up efforts to keep the virus from spreading in its offices.

In an email to staffers about returning to work in person, Jeff Zucker warned that the company has a “zero-tolerance policy” about allowing people back who haven’t gotten the life-saving shots, according to Deadline.

“Thus far, we have left proof of vaccination to an honor system. While we have asked for attestation to your status via Passcard, it has not been mandatory to produce a vaccine card,” Zucker wrote.

“In the past week, we have been made aware of three employees who were coming to the office unvaccinated. All three have been terminated. Let me be clear — we have a zero-tolerance policy on this.”

The email continues, “You need to be vaccinated to work in the field, with other employees, regardless of whether you enter an office or not. Period. We expect that in the weeks ahead, showing proof of vaccination may become a formal part of the WarnerMedia Passcard process. Regardless, our expectations remain in place.”

Vanessa Bryant has settled the $5 million lawsuit filed against her by her mother, Sofia Laine

 Sofia sued Vanessa and Kobe Bryant’s estate claiming the late NBA legend promised to “take care of her for the rest of her life.” 

She claimed she worked as a “longtime personal assistant and nanny” for the family and wasn’t paid for it. 

Vanessa called B.S. on all of it and said the lawsuit was nothing more than an attempt to extort her. 

In March, she asked a judge to dismiss the lawsuit to no avail. 

So, it looks like Vanessa decided to throw in the towel and just settle the case. 

The details of the settlement have not been disclosed.

In a recent post, Quavo shared a photo of himself checking his phone outside while said assistant, one Joshua Washington, held an umbrella over his head to shield the sun and pointed a portable fan his way. Quavo tagged his assistant in the pic, and let fans know, his actions don’t go unappreciated.

Captioning the pic: “5k a Day My Asst. A Millionaire!” Quavo set off a whole conversation among Migos fans about the seemingly exorbitant rate. Then again, given how many stories we’ve heard about extremely wealthy celebrities treating their employees very poorly, this overpayment is a welcome rebuttal. Doing some quick calculations here about Mr. Washington’s total take home pay… if he makes $5,000 a day that’s $35,000 a week and $120,000 a month.

$120,000 annually is considered to be a pretty hefty salary in America, so multiply that 12 for each month and his total annual pay is $1,440,000. In which case, Quavo’s post is right, his assistant is most certainly a millionaire as he makes over a million in a year. Then again, maybe the daily rate is a sporadic one, and he’s not really working 365 like that. Let it be known, I too am available for assistant work if anyone in Migos is in LA for a few days without help and needs a hand.

‘Buhari’s Twitter ban undermines Nigerians’ rights and freedoms’ – US

The United States speaks on the order given by the regime of the President, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd) that all social media platforms operating in Nigeria must register and obtain a licence, including the ban on Twitter.

This is as Netblocks reports that the ban on Twitter has cost the country the sum of N111.03 billion between Saturday, June 5 when the Twitter ban took effect to Monday, July 26, 2021, a figure that would increase to $366,877,817 (NGN 132,802,432,084) by the end of 61 days which is August 5.

Buhari cited the spread of false information and “activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence” for the ban which was announced on June 4.

A follow-up statement by Nigeria’s information minister, Lai Mohammed, revealed that the Buhari regime would not allow social media platforms to operate in the country without registration or payment of tax.

The MAVIN disc jockey who holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Lagos and an MBA from Coventry University shared how he chose his current career path over the corporate world.

DJ Big N revealed that by the time he was done with schooling, he already has an 8-figure job waiting for him at an oil and gas firm.

However, his passion for DJing made him quit the position of a HR manager to keep at disc jockeying which has paid off in more ways than one.

Twitter ban: Nigerians lose N150.46bn in two months

Nigeria businesses may have lost N150.46bn ($366.88m) since the Federal Government’s ban on Twitter took effect in the country on June 5.

This figure was calculated based on the NetBlocks Cost of Shutdown Tool.

According to the tool, it costs Nigeria’s economy N102.77m ($250,600) every hour to ban Twitter.

It has been 1,464 hours (61 days) since the ban. In that time period, Nigeria may have lost N150.46bn.
