An orchestra violinist underwent an operation to remove a brain tumor had to play her instrument to ensure surgeons did not damage the part which controls the movement of her hands.

Dagmar Turner, a 53-year-old management consultant and passionate violinist from the Isle of Wight, had a tumour removed at King's College Hospital, according to Sky News.

 

Before the operation, Dagmar was worried she could lose her music skills but she later pleaded with the surgeons to allow her play the violin while she is being operated on. According to the surgeons, they mapped her brain, opened the skull and then got her to play the violin as the tumour was removed.

Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali on Thursday received a priceless 18th-century crown that a former refugee had kept hidden in his apartment in the Netherlands for two decades.

The handover took place at a ceremony in the capital, Addis Ababa, attended by Sigrid Kaag, the Dutch minister for foreign trade and development cooperation and Sirak Asfaw, the one-time refugee who is now a Dutch citizen.

Asfaw fled Ethiopia during the late 1970s during the so-called “Red Terror” purges.

He found the gilded crown, which features images of Christ and the Twelve Apostles in 1998 in a suitcase left behind by a visitor.

Mc Oluomo, others ask Makinde to revert proscription, give seven-day ultimatum

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Southwest has urged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to revert the proscription decision on the union’s activities in the state.

It issued a seven-day ultimatum to the government to also revert the appointment of ex-chairman of a faction of the union in the state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, as the chairman, Disciplinary Committee for the motor parks.

The union threatened that NURTW will begin strike if the decision is not rescinded by the government.

US visa ban on Nigerians not permanent -U.S Ambassador

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms. Mary Beth Leonard, has said the recent ban on the granting of fresh residency visa to Nigerians is not permanent but subject to review if certain conditions are met.

AFCON Qualifier: NFF dismisses Lassa fever scare ahead of Nigeria v Sierra Leone

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has allayed fears over the spread of the dreaded Lassa fever from the Sierra Leone contingent when the Super Eagles battle with the Leone Stars in a Cameroun 2021 African Nations Cup qualifier in Asaba next month.




Nigeria has been battling with the Lassa Fever scourge , and some football fans recently raised the alarm that the Sierra Leonean contingent could pose a danger to the country seeing as majority of the Nigerian squad are foreign based.


The Guardian’s investigation reveals that in November 24, 2019, a Dutch doctor contacted the fever in Sierra Leone and died after several moves to revive him.


The doctor was flown home after being affected in the Northern town of Masanga, an area previously known to have been affected by the virus in Sierra Leone. Another doctor infected by the virus is currently undergoing treatment in the West African country.

Young Thug took to Twitter to make a comment about Dwyane Wade's 12-year-old child coming out as transgender and this led to a backlash.

Nigerian VLogger, Moni Osibodu, sparked a debate on Twitter following a tweet she posted about relationships.

In her tweet, Moni opined that any woman that remains friends with her friend's ex boyfriend, isn't a true friend.

Boosie Badazz took to Instagram to call out Dwyane Wade for encouraging and supporting his 12-year-old child who came out as transgender.

Dwyane appeared on Ellen to talk about his child who was born as a boy and named Zion but now identifies as a transgender girl called Zaya.

He said during the interview: "First of all me and my wife, Gabrielle Union, we are proud parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community and we're allies as well."

According to the man who reported the case on Twitter, his pleas fell on deaf ears as they insisted he cleared his bank account.

“I strongly believe Coronavirus is caused by corruption” – Magu (Video)

The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has stated that he strongly believes that Coronavirus is caused by corruption.

Magu said this on Tuesday in Kaduna during the Passing Out Parade of 281 Detective Inspectors of the EFCC, who were trained for 14 months at the NDA.
In the video sighted by LailasNews, Magu said corruption was worse than any disease, adding that “its (corruption) elimination is of paramount importance to the growth of the nation, before adding that he strongly believes that the Coronavirus epidemic was caused by corruption.
