3 BILLION NAIRA King Sunny Ade sues marketers over copyright infringement
King Sunny Ade filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court, Lagos involving seven defendants who are charged for musical records, cassettes and cassette jacket print in Nigeria. In other words, copyright infringement!
According to the media, KSA filed the lawsuit since 2007. The legendary singer demanded damages of about N 3 billion from the defendant for allegedly infringing on about 43 works from him as he seeks a court order directing the defendants to deliver master tapes of the said works to him.
According to legal docs obtained, the defendants in the suit are Alagbada Nigeria Ltd, Take Your Choice Records Store Ltd, Alhaja Awawu Ade Amodu and Sons, African Songs Limited, Lati Records Manufacturer of Nigeria Limited, Ibukunolu Printers Nigeria Ltd, and M.O. Alagbada Nigeria Company.
KSA did admit he had five years agreement with these defendants in the 1970s, but upon expiration of the deal, the defendant failed to return master tapes of the songs despite continued demands.
He recounted how the unauthorised reproduction and distribution of his musical efforts by these defendants had affected his financial and social worth.
He maintained that, his monthly revenue from live shows, which used to be N5 million, had been drastically reduced to a “paltry” sum of N500,000. He also revealed that his monthly income from sales of compact discs and cassettes had dwindled from N3.5 million to N150,000.
The defendants however stood their ground contrary to King Sunny Ade’s claims, maintaining that, their relationship with the musician dated back to 1966 when they received and negotiated musical performance bookings for him, in addition to sponsoring his musical tour of the United Kingdom.
Copyright infringement is a serious issue taken unseriously in Nigeria. With some entertainers stealing content while other brands accuse them of intellectual theft, it’s unsafe to create something new.

Powerful Message To Her Painful Past In ‘Steel Here’ Video @TishaCampblMrtn @TishaCampbell
- TV’s darling child star turned diva 90’s to 2000’s Tisha Campbell, has some powerful advice:
Be victorious, not a victim.
Tisha sings
on the track:
I’m still resilient. I’m always gonna be here
Because I’m supposed to be here.
I’m only my existence-
It’s a system of survival. Because I’m my only revival.
Yes I’m on a misson (put your seat belt on)
I know I’m on assignment, the stars are in alignment. I’m ready for this!
Black butterfly,
Got my paintbrush, got my canvas and I’ll paint the sky!
I’m-I’m-I’m- still/steel here!
Although the incident happened over four
decades ago, the burden of the abuse still weighs heavily on Tisha’s
heart and mind. The Real Husbands of Hollywood actress admits
that the letter has helped her to completely break away from being
chained to the pain of her troubled past. In the visual, Tisha wears a
portion of the letter written across her chest which says:
“Dear
Beloved Tisha, this apology has been in my heart and on my mind for
decades. For decades there has been a grieving pain within me coupled
with an unending shame for my past behavior…”
Tisha also took to Twitter to break down
the symbolic video, which features everything from a white-outfit clad
Tisha surrounded by butterflies, to the singer dressed in a black dress:
OMG!!!!“The color of the dress reps beauty and strength each dancer attached 2 me reps purging of anger, grudge, pain, low self esteem, self-deprecation or any negative emotion) being released and the freedom from it. The writing on my body and the man writing the letter reps the actual words of an apology letter I recently received from the person who violated me when I was 3 yrs old. By blessing me with the apology letter he allotted me the ability to be free and to forgive #blessed #thankful”
For about a year now, Tisha has been no stranger to opening up about her sexual abuse in an effort to help others see themselves less as a victim and more as victorious, even admitting recently to Madame Noire that when she first became a mother, she had troubles breastfeeding her son in fear that she’d “hurt him.” Although she reveals she was later able to get over this in time to share the bond with her second child, at one point, the events of Tisha’s rape temporarily made her overthink her motives as a mother, struggling to not confuse her innocent “mom”ents with perhaps being too intimate. Could you imagine?
She even opened up last year on “The Daily Helpline Talk Show” to help a young caller who’d been dealing with bulimia ever since her assault. Tisha offered the 20-year-old some powerful advice for her life:
“You can no longer be a victim, you have to be victorious at this point. You can’t play the victim cause at this point, I’m not saying this to put you down or anything. What I’m saying is he’s winning, and you are allowing him to win. You are making a conscious decision to harm yourself, to hurt yourself and allow this person to still have dominion over your life. You can’t do that anymore.”
“The reason why I can absolutely say this to you without judgment or anything else, and this is the first time I ever said this on camera in front of millions, national, people, is that I too have been a victim of the same thing. When I was three, I was raped by an older person. Now I knew as a child that I did nothing wrong and that this wasn’t my fault, but I found forgiveness in the guilt that I might’ve had.”

Eat, Pray, Love for intending brides.... Adrienne Bailon
We...were heartbroken by the news that The Real Adrienne broke off her engagement jetted off to Europe and stayed in Paris. An “Eat, Pray, Love” moment of sorts, spending the remainder of the summer traveling around the world solo or with close friends (a trip to Honduras with best friend Julissa Bermudez), eventually returning toNY without her engagement ring.
She told the Real viewers:
My prayer has always been that even in the not so great moments, that you remind yourself that everything in life happens for a reason and hopefully it benefits someone else on their journey. When they are going through hard times, maybe someone out there can relate and know that they are not alone. She also confirmed the news to People:
A lot of you guys have been asking me, ‘Where is your ring? Are you still engaged?” And it was a hard decision for me to make.
This summer, I went on my little Eat, Pray, Love journey and it was a time for me to come in terms with my own truth and honesty. We are not engaged anymore. We are in a good place, it’s not an ‘awww’ thing, I promise you. We maintained that we will be great friends forever, and I think it was a hard decision to make when you are with someone for such a long time. As women we have a hard time with change, but you have to be true to yourself and you have to be honest with yourself, and having time on my own gave me that opportunity.
“I am, of course, sad that things didn’t go as we planned, but we still remain close friends. Six years is a long time to be together, but we had to make the decision to go with our hearts and not be embarrassed or afraid of change. He absolutely helped make me a better person and I will forever cherish the time we shared together.”

I Made The First Move On My Husband- Helen Paul @HELEN_PAUL
Helen and her hubby now have three kids together and have been married for 5 years.
Speaking on how she met her husband to Sun newspaper, she said;
''I met him through my boss where I was formerly working. He
was a friend to my boss. While he always saw me as too playful and jumpy, I saw
him as too stingy'', she said while laughing.
According to Tatafo, the reason she thought her husband was
stingy was that whenever he came to the office, he never bothered to buy
anything for her and her co-workers unlike her boss’ other friends who were
always generous. Continue,..
“Those days when my boss’ colleagues came visiting, they always
reached out to us when leaving. They gave us money which we used to buy
doughnuts and soft drinks but my husband never gave us anything.
“He would just wave his hand and say ‘bye bye guys, take
care of yourselves’,” she says, mimicking a stern and unfriendly male voice,
adding, “So we always saw him as a selfish lawyer.”
However, one day, Tatafo and her colleagues were up to the
hilt and so she summoned all the courage she could and decided to confront him.
“On that fateful day, I summoned courage and as he was
leaving, I told him, ‘sir, you don’t buy us anything any time you come but we
really like you. If you can be buying us doughnuts and soft drinks, we would be
very grateful’. He started laughing, so I quickly added, ‘sir, it’s not only me
o. My colleagues are also involved, so please don’t tell our boss’.”
Indeed, Tatafo’s move paid off as her future husband laughed
it off after which he reached into his pockets and gave them ‘something’ for
lunch.
