Nicki Minaj sat down with Jada Pinkett-Smith for a chat about her career and her life as a mother in the new issue of Interview Magazine.

PINKETT SMITH: One of the greatest gifts we have is being mothers. And with this single that I heard too, I was like, “Wow, okay. So Nicki is now married, she’s now a mother,” but you are not afraid to still be Nicki Minaj. And I want to tell you, because that can be challenging for us as women: Sometimes when we become mothers, people are like, “Oh, now that’s all you are.” So when I saw you come out the box at number one, I was like, “Okay, she figured out how to approach her art.” It’s like, “No, no, no. This is the place. I am still a woman.” Talk to me a little bit about being able to protect that space for yourself, to be the artist you want to be, to be the woman you want to be.

MINAJ: Can you do all of my interviews for the rest of my life because listen, oh my god. Okay. Here’s the truth that I would not have revealed to anyone but you. The truth is, the video is about to come out and I haven’t even shown it to my husband. Normally I share everything with him. I’ve said this many times, but we grew up in the same neighborhood and he’s five years older than me. I was, I think, 17 years old when I met him, so he was 21 or 22. I’ve known him for a long time, so because of that we are really good friends and I never feel fear to share anything with him. But this video, I haven’t shared it. And it’s because—oh god, how do I say this— I’m big on respect and loyalty, but at the same time, I do feel that for the last couple of years, I have been leaning more towards wife and mom. And I feel like either you’re going to do it or not. So I had this conversation with myself and I had it with him as well, but it’s like, I don’t know how to be a watered-down Nicki Minaj. I just can’t do it!

PINKETT SMITH: [Laughs] MINAJ: When I was pregnant I couldn’t even record certain songs. That body was very uncomfortable for me, number one. And then you have the baby, and your body’s going through all these changes and mentally you’re going through it. It was difficult for me to write on the whole.

PINKETT SMITH: Right.

MINAJ: But then this song came along and because I didn’t approach it in a sexual way, I approached it in a fun way, it’s like I tapped back into who I was. People might not get this from me, but I was never trying to be sexy, I always was laughing. I think that I can look sexy, but I don’t think of myself as a person that is—you know how some women walk into the room and they’re just like, “Ooh.” I’m not like that.

PINKETT SMITH: [Laughs] I totally understand, Nicki!

MINAJ: Okay, good. So because of that, after a few years I had forgotten who I was because I was only reading who people were saying I was. And then it dawned on me like, “Wait a minute. When you were saying your sexually explicit lyrics before, Onika [Minaj was born Onika Tanya Maraj], you weren’t trying to be serious. You weren’t trying to turn people on. You were trying to be funny and goofy and stupid. Like, just tap back into you.” You know? And so that’s how I approached “Super Freaky Girl.”

On Oct. 20, the E! network announced the return of its iconic nightly entertainment news show, along with newly minted celebrity co-hosts Adrienne Bailon-Houghton and Justin Sylvester.

The reimagined E! News serves as the premier late-night destination for movie, music, television and pop culture fans. Justin and Adrienne will breakdown the hottest entertainment news of the day, conduct in-studio celebrity interviews and bring all the hottest trends and exclusive scoop from movie premieres, award shows and concerts, making sure viewers are kept current on all the day's top stories.

The NBCUniversal cable network is bringing back the long-running franchise after a two-year break and is moving it back to evenings.

Adrienne Bailon-Houghton, who just signed a talent deal with the company, and Justin Sylvester are to co-host the show from November 14 at 11:30pm.

John Redmann, who was exec producer of CBS’ The Talk for ten years, and John Pascarella, who was co-exec producer of Maury, will exec produce the nightly show.

In 2020, E! News became a morning show and after going on an indefinite hiatus in March 2020 as a result of the pandemic, it was canceled in August 2020 with its operation moving online as a web news service.

The show, which covers celebrity news and gossip as well as film and TV news, is best known for being hosted by Ryan Seacrest. The new iteration will have an “emphasis on celebrity-friendly, fact-based reporting and serve as a platform for personalities to connect with their fans”.

It is the latest shift at E!, which recently canceled Daily Pop and Nightly Pop, leading to the departure of production staff on those shows.

“E! News has a long history of entertainment news excellence, and we are excited to bring the show back and continue its legacy,” said Tracie Wilson, EVP, NBCUniversal Syndication Studios and E! News. “John Redmann and John Pascarella are strategic, respected executive producers with stellar reputations and Justin and Adrienne are charismatic, seasoned hosts with a genuine interest in pop culture. This is the perfect team to bring a fresh take to this franchise.”

2 years after public disagreement, Ifu Ennada and Alex hug it out at Rico’s candlelight procession (Video)

Alex Unusual and Ifu Ennada reconnect two years and ten months after their social media feud.


Their reconciliation took place yesterday, October 19th, at the candlelight walk in honor of the late Rico Swavey.


Patrick 'Rico' Fakoya, also known as Rico Swavey, died on October 13th as a result of a horrific accident.


His candlelight march was widely-attended by Big Brother Naija season 3 housemates as well as other seasons' contestants.


Rico wanted to "bring everyone from their season together," but not in this way, according to Alex's speech.

Yesterday, October 20, the former Big Brother Naija housemate took to social media to celebrate her new age while also announcing her new career.


She claimed that she had wanted to be a DJ since 2016, but that studying to be one felt difficult for her.


In a vlog, Tolani stated:

“I’ve been wanting to be a DJ since 2016 but it just always seems so hard to me. Shoutout to DJ KO, Chocolate Thunder, DJ Latitude, and DJ Paranomo. These DJs have taken time out to teach me over the years”

  Following her announcement, DJ Barbie equally took to her social media page to write that everyone now wants to be a DJ.

On being a role model

I don’t feel any responsibility. I’m like, ‘If you look up to me, proceed with caution. That’s on you. I’m sorry, while also flattered. But good luck to you if you do.’ I’m very transparent about my mistakes. I’m very transparent about my journey. But I don’t have to watch myself or what I do. If I had a legion of 12-year-old girl fans, I would be more cautious, but I don’t think that’s the case.

On her only-in-Hollywood moment

I was at the Golden Globes sitting at a table with the cast of Big Little Lies. Laura Dern was having a conversation with the president of HBO and was casually, unbeknownst to me, pitching him her next idea. It was him being like, ‘Okay, I love the idea. Who’s gonna write it?’ then her pointing to me, and then us selling a show together. That, to me, will always be an only-in-Hollywood moment. Now we just have to make the show.

 On what has changed for women in Hollywood post-#MeToo: “Sadly, not much. It feels like we’re regressing, depressingly so. There are just too many enablers for there to be real change. People have to be held accountable. There have to be legitimate consequences. Hollywood is very bad about consequences. It’s literally the worst industry when it comes to punishing people for misdeeds and actions, because money will always reign supreme. That’s something that, even by working in this industry, we’re enabling. So it’s hard. What I have realized is that I can control my own environment and who I work with. I can hold people accountable within my world and my bubble. I don’t have to work for everybody. All money isn’t good money. All people aren’t good people.” “It starts with a backbone. While I don’t support people jumping to immediate conclusions and I think it’s entirely fair for investigations to happen, I think it’s extremely important to, like the mantra says, ‘Listen to women.’ I’m gonna be real, the stuff that’s happening with Ezra Miller is, to me, a microcosm of Hollywood. There’s this person who’s a repeat offender, who’s been behaving atrociously, and as opposed to shutting them down and shutting the production down, there’s an effort to save the movie and them. That is a clear example of the lengths that Hollywood will go to to save itself and to protect offenders. So, don’t do that, and women may be able to thrive. They won’t have to live in fear of keeping silent because it’ll ruin their careers. It’s just a constant pattern of abuse that’ll only persist if Hollywood continues to insist on being this way.”

#jaiyeorie  Kunle Afolayan, a veteran actor and film producer, has explained why he cast his daughter, Eyiyemi Afolayan, in the part of Princess Omowunmi in his newest release, Anikulapo.


Afolayan, who posted a brief video clip of himself and his daughter on his Instagram page on Wednesday, said the part demanded someone attractive, and his daughter is certainly lovely.
He went on to say that the boy is also a good vocalist and a natural actor.


Eyiyemi is Afolayan's first kid, and she made her acting debut on the set of Anikulapo.

Afolayan said, “If you want to portray the role of a princess, I think there is no giving that the person has to be beautiful and she is beautiful.

“It felt good because I did not have to pay her, even though I was paying her directly or indirectly.”
When asked about her role as Princess Omowunmi in the movie, Eyiyemi said, “Omowunmi is very foolish because Saro never proposed love to her but she already started having ideas in her head. She is beautiful no doubt, but also gullible.”

 The Central Bank of Nigeria and the Asset Management Company of Nigeria have formally announced the completion of a Share Purchase Agreement for the acquisition of 100 per cent of the equity in Polaris Bank by Strategic Capital Investment Limited. The House of Representatives on Wednesday okayed the sale of Polaris Bank, noting that the acquisition followed laid down procedure and the relevant presidential approval. A statement issued by the Director, Corporate Communications Department at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Osita Nwanisobi, on behalf of the CBN and AMCON disclosed that SCIL had paid an upfront consideration of N50bn to acquire 100 per cent of the equity of Polaris Bank, and had also accepted the terms of the agreement which include the full repayment of the sum of N1.31tn, being the consideration bonds injected. The statement read in part, “The CBN thus received an immediate return for the value it has created in Polaris Bank during the stabilisation period, as well as ensuring that all funds originally provided to support the intervention are recovered. “The sale was coordinated by a Divestment Committee (the ‘Committee’) comprising representatives of the CBN and AMCON, and advised by legal and financial consultants. The committee conducted a sale process by ‘private treaty’, as provided in Section 34(5) of the AMCON Act to avoid negative speculations, retain value and preserve financial system stability. “In the process, parties who had formally expressed an interest in acquiring Polaris Bank, subsequent to the CBN intervention in 2018, were invited to submit financial and technical proposals.
