Kosisochukwu Anioma, the daughter of former aide to ex-Governor Chimaroke Nnamani, Frank Anioma, was reported missing by her father on Thursday August 22 in Enugu state. 

 

Anioma had taken to social media to state that his daughter, Kosiso, was on her way to the New Haven market in Enugu at about 7am on Thursday when she was kidnapped.

 

 
 Anioma was not abducted but left her hometown in Enugu to visit her boyfriend in Owerri, Imo State.
 
The Enugu State Police disclosed this information via their twitter handle as they revealed that the young lady has been found.

Nigerian thief, Gloria Makanjuola, jailed in UK

Gloria Makanjuola committed a series of robberies and theft on buses in Hackney has been jailed.  


Makanjuola, 28, has no fixed address, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court to 2 years and 8months' imprisonment after pleading guilty to 8 counts of robbery, four counts of theft and 4 counts of fraud at an earlier hearing at Thames Magistrates’ Court.  
Makanjuola committed the offences between September 2018 and October 2018 across Hackney. Her victims were aged between 18 and 87 years and all the offences occurred on buses in Hackney. One victim, an 87-year-old man, was targeted by Makanjuola as he travelled on a route around Wick Road.  
She sat next to the victim to pick hispocket, he told her to stop but she managed to grab around £80 in cash. On another occasion, an 18-year-old woman was on board a route 277 bus in the area of Mare Street, E5 when Makanjuola started talking to her.   During the conversation, she kept touching the victim and was crying.

Police arrest Onikoyi brothers for allegedly defrauding rice seller with fake currency

 29-year-old Sunday Durosinmi Onikoyi and 20-year-old Felix Durosinmi Onikoyi have been arrested by the Ogun State Police command for defrauding a rice seller with fake currencies.

The suspects were arrested after Mr Moses Nwese lodged a complaint with the police. He said the 2 brothers left after paying him N29,000 in one-thousand-naira denomination for 2 bags of rice. He said he discovered the money was fake while counting it.

48 human rights groups petition UN, AU over Sowore’s continuous detention

48 human rights groups and press freedom organisations have petitioned the United Nations and the African Union over the continued detention of rights activist and convener of the RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, by the Department of State Services.

The groups described the arrest and detention of Sowore as a threat to press freedom and investigative journalism in Nigeria, while calling for an urgent intervention by the UN and the AU to secure his immediate release.

Nigerian national arrested with 496 grams of cocaine in India

Palghar Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Tulinj Police in Maharashtra have arrested a 31-year-old Nigerian identified as Diyata Jerome and recovered 496 grams of cocaine and more drugs from his possession after the arrest.

"We have recovered cocaine worth Rs 1, 49, 60,000 from Jerome's possession, who has been arrested. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Tulinj police station. Further investigation is underway," said Mansingh Patil, Assistant Police Inspector.

17 people perish in Kwara road accident

About 17 people have died in a road accident at Bacita junction along Jebba/Ilorin Highway in Kwara State.

The accident happened on Thursday afternoon involved an 18-seater Toyota Hiace Passenger bus and an articulated container truck.

The Head of Operation, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara State Sector Command, Udeme Eshiet, said that the container truck was heading towards Jebba, in the Kwara North District, while the passenger bus was coming to Ilorin, the state capital when the crash occurred.

Qatar’s Ras Abu Aboud stadium for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final is to be a 40,000 capacity venue built using shipping containers and modular building blocks, each containing removable seats, concession stands, lavatories and other stadium elements, it was revealed at the weekend.

After the World Cup, the stadium may be reassembled on another site or turned into multiple venues.

''He who laughs last, laughs best'' Dino Melaye reacts to tribunal annuling his election

Melaye  reacted to the judgement of the Kogi state National Assembly/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal annuling his February 23rd election as Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district.

 

The tribunal in a unanimous decision, annuled his election and ordered a fresh re-election.

 

Dino took to his Twitter handle to mock the Tribunal's judgment.

Dino Melaye as Kogi West Senator, orders fresh election

Dino Melaye's election as the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District has been annulled by the Kogi State National Assembly/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal.

APC candidate in the February 23rd election, Smart Adeyemi, filed a petition before the tribunal challenging Dino's victory.


He cited irregularities, over voting and non compliance with the electoral acts.

Delivering judgement in the petition this morning Friday August 23rd, the three man panel led by Justice A. O. Chijioke, annulled the election and ordered a re-election into the senatorial district.
