Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets Qualify For U17 AFCON After Victory Over Burkina Faso

The Golden Eaglets have clinched one of the tickets to feature in the age-grade continental tournament after edging the young Stallions
Nigeria have qualified for the 2021 U17 Africa Cup of Nations after securing a 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso in the U17 Wafu B semi-finals on Friday.

Michael Emmanuel Papo scored the only goal of the encounter to send the Golden Eaglets to the final of the regional tournament which is being hosted by Togo.

Nigeria started the competition unimpressively after losing 1-0 against Ivory Coast in their opening Group B match, with Charles Mezia scoring the solitary goal.

Fatai Amoo’s boys then played out a 1-1 draw against Ghana which almost ended their campaign in the tournament but managed to reach the semi-finals after the Black Starlets lost to the young Elephants.

The Golden Eaglets boss Amoo named a strong squad for the encounter against Burkina Faso in their quest to secure victory.

Destiny Emuwahem started in goal for Nigeria while Victor Udoh, Joseph Kuteyi, Chukwuemeka Egbu, Peter Asuquo and Papo were also handed starting roles.

"No man spent 1 dime on my house" - Ehi Ogbebor denies rumours

 Ehi Ogbebor dares any man who claims he donated to her business or the building of her mansion to come forward.

She said this while reacting to rumours that her palatial mansion was funded by a man.

"If you as a man has ever bankrolled Ehi and you don't talk, God will punish you," she said as she begged any man who claims he has sponsored her to go to speak out.

She continued: "I built my house myself, that’s hardwork darlings.

"I'm on the road, at times 4 days in a week. I do it for myself, I do it for my kids."

To those carrying the rumours that she was sponsored by a man, she told them that they are ruining the minds of young girls and telling them that the only way they can make it big is with the help of men.

She concluded, "I'll be the last person, by the grace of God, to date a man for money."

Conjoined female twins separated at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital

 University of Ilorin Teaching hospital as a set of conjoined female twins were separated by a team of medical experts on Thursday, January 14.

The babies were separated by a 66-member all Nigerian team of paediatric surgeons, paediatricians, paediatric cardiologist, anaesthetists, cardiothoracic surgeon, nurses, pharmacists, behavioral scientists and many more.  

The team was led by Paediatric surgeon, Prof Lukman Abdul-Rahman who is pictured above carrying the babies.

It looks like the love story of Theresa and Iyke has been growing stronger and stronger. It all started from a reality show which went down last year.

Iyke and Theresa were love guest from the reality TV show, Ultimate Love season 1.

Both found their chemistry and were together called IykeResa. They soon found a way into fans heart and continued to pull stronger in each phase of the reality show.

They both survived eviction in several weeks, as they show compassion, love, patience and understanding with each other.

#IykeResa went all the way to the final but only ended up as first runner up.

Following the end of the show, both love birds have managed to keep their relationship ship sailing. The love birds been used as cover faces for several brands.

Barack Obama, George Bush’s pastor jailed 7 years for fraud

A Texas megachurch pastor and former spiritual adviser to Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for bilking investors out of millions of dollars.

Kirbyjon H. Caldwell, 67, was sentenced Wednesday in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he and his co-defendant, Gregory A. Smith, were indicted in 2018.

Caldwell, who in March pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, was the senior pastor of Houston’s Windsor Village United Methodist Church, which has about 14,000 members.

He was a spiritual adviser to Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

According to federal prosecutors, Caldwell and Smith, a Shreveport-based investment adviser, used their clout and influence to persuade people to invest about $3.5 million in historical Chinese bonds.

The bonds were reportedly issued by the former Republic of China that lost power to the communist government in 1949.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has won a 6th term in office with 58.6 per cent of the vote, in an election disputed by his main rival Bobi Wine who trailed with 34.8 per cent, the electoral commission announced on Saturday.

US President Donald Trump has reportedly refused to pay the legal fees of Rudy Giuliani, his personal lawyer.

Guiliani was a key figure in Trump’s bid to overturn the election victory of President-elect Joe Biden through the courts.

The lawyer instituted a number of cases across the US but lost them.

According to the Washington Post, Giuliani charged the president $20,000 a day.

But the relationship between Trump and the lawyer started waning after the failed bid to overturn Biden’s victory in the November poll.

However, in an interview with Saturday Beats, the actress stated that aside from acting, she was involved in other businesses and was not concerned about whatever opinions were expressed about the source of the car. 

She said, “I bought the car with my hard-earned money. I actually paid for it in early 2020 but because of the Covid-19 pandemic, it could not be shipped to Nigeria until recently.

“People are entitled to their opinions. They are free to say whatever they like. I have found that people who don’t even know one are the ones that usually have the most to say about one. I am used to it and I don’t consider it to be a big deal anymore.

“Many actresses do more than acting. Many of them are influencers on social media and they have other businesses. Whenever they are contracted to represent any brand, they are well paid for it. Taaooma reacts to allegations of N1.5 million skit

Taaooma has responded to a social media allegations that she did a shoddy job for N1.5 million.

She was called out on Twitter by a filmmaker identified as @olaondeck.

The self acclaimed filmmaker in a now deleted post on claimed Taaooma charged his client the sum of N1.5 million for a video that didn’t entirely meet the expectations of the client.

According to him, after the comedian was informed about the dissatisfaction with her execution of the project, she allegedly maintained a “take it or leave it” position.

“She shot video and the client doesn’t like the work done. And her position is take it or leave,” his tweet read in part.
@olaondeck went on to note that they do not want a full refund of the N1.5 million but at least expect a sense of concession from the comic star.

FG To Sell Off Some Govt-Owned Properties To Fund 2021 Budget

Federal Government has confirmed that it will sell some government-owned properties to fund the 2021 budget.

The government stated it will sell some non-oil assets to serve as additional source of finance for the year’s budget.

Federal Government is to borrow N5.6 trillion from domestic and foreign sources to support the implementation of N13.59 trillion budget. However, there is a deficit of N5.6 trillion.

Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmed has now revealed that the FG plans to sell some government-owned properties.

She disclosed this during the budget presentation ceremony, titled, ‘Public Presentation of 2021 FGN Approved Budget – Breakdown and Highlights’ which was done virtually on Tuesday, January 12.

The document however did not state the assets to be sold, neither did it state the expected revenue from the sales

Third Mainland Bridge To Be Fully Reopened February 15 – Fashola

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has confirmed that Third Mainland Bridge will be fully reopened to traffic by February 15.

The Minister gave the update on Thursday during an inspection of construction work on major roads and bridges in Lagos State.

Fashola and his team visited the section of the Apapa-Oshodi expressway engulfed by fire when a petrol tanker burst into flames.

The former Lagos State Governor expressed that the partial closure of the bridge is delaying the scheduled maintenance on Falomo bridge.

COVID-19: Lagos Orders Civil Servants To Work From Home Till Feb

 Sanwo-Olu, has directed civil servants on Level 14 and below to work from home till February 1, 2021 as part of measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease amid the second wave of the pandemic.

This was contained in a statement signed on Saturday by the Head of Service in the state, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.

Muri-Okunola, however, noted that the directive excludes staff on essential duty as well as first responders.

He said, “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved a further extension of the work-from-home order to all State Public Servants on Grade Levels 14 and below from Monday, 18th January 2021, to Monday, 1st February 2021, to curtail the spread of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“He urged all public servants to stay safe and ensure continued observance of all COVID-19 protocols for physical distancing, use of face masks, regular washing of hands with soap and running water as well as the use of hand sanitisers.”

Muri-Okunola stated that the weekly duty rosters should be maintained for effective service delivery by Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the State Government.

COVID-19: Lagos Orders Civil Servants To Work From Home Till Feb 1

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday said the State Government would participate fully in all the programmes leading to the final burial of the former Military Governor of the State, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (rtd).

He said the State has set up a four-man committee led by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, to work with the deceased family and other stakeholders to immortalise and give late Ndubuisi Kanu a befitting passage of exit.

The America’s Got Talent alum said it began actively working on its weight in February 2019, less than 2 years ago. She explained that she had “the worst eating habits” and that she was worried about the weight loss trip because she didn’t want to give up trash. But she says she later discovered that she didn’t have to give up trash, but just cut back on the portions she ate. Gladys Kanu, widow of a former military administrator of Lagos and Imo states, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, has blamed her husband's death on the hospital where he was being treated for COVID19.

In an interview with The Nation, Mrs. Kanu said her husband was only sick for 11 days. She accused the hospital where he died on Wednesday January 13, of giving her and her family false hopes.

According to Mrs. Kanu, she had to cancel plans to fly him out of the country to a UK hospital for treatment after the hospital staff told her that he had already recovered.

 CCTV footage has emerged of a Chinese couple being held at gunpoint the night before they were killed in Cambodia.

Cambodian media reported that a 38-year-old man and his 22-year-old lover were found dead at an apartment in LH Residence in the capital city Phnom Penh on Thursday, January 14.

Angkor Today said the man, named Xiao Bo, was strangled inside the apartment and dragged to the bathroom. While his girlfriend, Ms Cao, was found with plastic tapes around her mouth and nose with her limbs tied.

South African singer, Kelly Khumalo has spoken about how her  spirit gets her past the negativity thrown at her.

She took to Instagram this week to share a snap of herself looking radiant. In a caption she wrote that she was a “god that was downgraded to a queen”.

“It takes real courage to hear the worst things about you and still walk with your head held high, After all, I am a god that was downgraded to a queen,” she wrote.

The reality TV star opened up in August last year about the hate she got after the death of her daughter’s father, former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.

Senzo was gunned down at Kelly’s family home in Vosloorus during an alleged house robbery in 2014.

In an interview on MassivMetro, DJ Sbu asked Kelly what she would say to Senzo if she got the chance to do so.
