Governor Ayade appoints 19-year-old as personal assistant on technical affairs

Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, has appointed 19-year-old Louis Okon as his Personal Assistant on Technical (Data Management) Affairs, making him the youngest political appointee in Nigeria.
Okon was amongst the additional 427 aides appointed by Governor Ayade in Calabar on Monday. Those appointed include chairmen and members of boards of agencies as well as special assistants.
Confirming his appointment, Louis took to his Instagram page to thank the Governor and his wife, Dr. Linda Ayade.
“Earlier today, the Governor of Cross River State, Sir Ben Ayade @sirbenayade, through his Chief Press Secretary, announced me as Personal Assistant on Technical (Data Management) Affairs," Okon said.
“It is indeed a great honour to me to serve my State and work under His Excellency in this capacity. I am humbled as I prepare to resume work as perhaps the youngest political appointee in our country at age 19yrs. Indeed, my appointment reemphasizes His Excellency’s belief in the youth, and his determination to create a youth inclusive administration and to bring us to the fore of affairs as he seeks to develop our dear State. As I prepare to serve, I am particularly thankful to God Almighty, the Executive Governor and Her Excellency, @drlindaayade for this opportunity, and to Cross Riverians at large. I will always be grateful” he added.

Netflix has gained about 15.77 million new users in the first three months of 2020 as millions of people opting for internet entertainment while stuck at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The recorded growth doubled the initial growth prediction of the company, as it had earlier forecasted 7 million net new subscribers growth for Q1 before the virus outbreak.
With the addition of the new subscribers, Netflix now has a total of 182.86 million paid subscribers.

American singer Bob Dylan’s handwritten lyrics to his 1960s classic “The Times They Are A-Changin’” are going up for sale for a world record $2.2m (N848.3m).
Gary Zimet, owner of Los Angeles-based autograph dealers Moments in Time, said on Sunday the one-page sheet of lyrics, written in a notebook and with changes and scribbles, was originally owned by Dylan’s current manager, Jeff Rosen.
It is now being sold by an anonymous private collector.
“It’s not an auction. It’s a private sale. First come, first served,” Zimet said in a report by Reuters.

Online schooling not replacement for third term - Lagos state government tells private schools

The Lagos state government have reacted to plans by some private schools in the state to resume on Monday April 27, for the third term academic session by online teaching.
Lagos state is currently on lockdown and in a bid to keep the academic calender running without any disruption, some private schools have opted for online teaching. Interested schools have sent letters to parents informing them of plans to resume on Monday and asking them to pay the school fees of their wards which is either the normal rate or at a subsidized rate.
Reacting to this development, the state Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo in a statement released, stressed that schools have not resumed for third term in the state. She however acknowledged efforts by some schools to engage their students but appealed to such schools to consult extensively with parents and find a win-win solution that will be acceptable to all stakeholders.

Yemi Alade, Ycee react to Samklef’s accusation; Simi ignores

Ycee and Yemi Alade have reacted to the accusation leveled against them by popular Nigerian music producer, Samklef.
In a series of tweets, the music producer called out Ycee, Yemi Alade, and Simi.
Samklef explained that he once reached out to Ycee and he did not respond to him.
He stated that he met Yemi Alade in South Africa once and he greeted her but she decided to snub him.
He added that Simi snubbed his invite for collaboration after helping her music career.
