Charles Moose, a former Maryland police chief who led the D.C. sniper investigation in 2002, has died.

The Montgomery County Police Department said in a Facebook post that its former top cop died at home on Thanksgiving Day at the age of 68.

“We are extremely saddened by the news announcing the passing of former Chief Charles Moose,” said current Montgomery Chief Marcus Jones.

“I love my mother to death but she always says I learned to cook so well because of her and deep down I know the truth is I had to learn for survival because she does NOT know what seasoning food means,” Iggy tweeted. “My brothers 21 and he’s only just now asking about garlic powder exactly!”

TikTok is partnering with UN Women and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) NGOs to mark this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence.

The partnership which will create Gender Links, & the Tears Foundation in South Africa, Warif NG & Mirabel Centre in Nigeria, as well as Childline Kenya & LVCT Health in Kenya is aimed to start the conversation about gender-based violence and educate our TikTok community.

#jaiyeorie Lola says: My love for our uniqueness as black people is one without compromise – our hair, skin, and distinct anatomy is worth flaunting any day. More interesting is the beauty of our diverse shades. From the darkest to the fairest, our unique skin tones are priceless treasures. My assertion is, of course, not universal as our beliefs have over time been influenced by several varying factors. Society has set a certain abstract standard of beauty that places more value on a certain skin tone and this has led to a surge in the number of people ‘toning’ their skin to meet these standards. It is then expedient that we have conversations around skin toning and its potential consequences and that is what this docu-story is all about. It’s a non-judgmental conversation that would not criticise anyone’s choices. Rather, it is about educating ourselves so that we are fully aware of the potential consequences of the choices we make. It’s also important that we acknowledge the pressures that people face from simply engaging on social media which leads to certain hasty decisions. This conversation will help people make more informed decisions moving forward. The question concerning why we do the things we do especially as black people (a somewhat marginalised/oppressed race) also needs to be asked. So I think it’s important we explore the rationale behind our actions rather than trivialising them. Why are there certain standards of beauty that seem to take us farther away from what it means to be black? Why is it that straight hair, clearer skin, a particular figure, a certain dimension of facial features are glorified over black body features? Why are we putting so much money into the pockets of people who don’t look like us but want us to look at them? These conversations are important so that we can raise a generation that recognises the value of self-love so that we can embrace our flaws, our uniqueness and make a proper, informed choice in the future. Furthermore, it’s important so we don’t project our insecurities, societal “standards” or how we feel onto the next generation. We also need to mind what we say and the things we glorify because they can have a lasting effect. Bleaching has been going on for centuries, so it’s something that has penetrated our culture and who we are as blacks. Leading integrated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) giant, Zinox Technologies Ltd. has been crowned the pioneer 2021 Technology Company of the Year by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), the umbrella organization of all Information Technology professionals, interest groups and stakeholders in Nigeria.

Zinox was accorded the award at the National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA) held at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos on Thursday, November 18, 2021.

The event had in attendance the crème of personalities in the Nigerian tech sector, including the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat who represented the Lagos State Governor at the event. The Deputy Governor was also honored with the Fellowship of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS).

Notably, the Technology Company of the Year award marks another addition to a long list of local and international honours and recognitions received by Zinox in its two decades of exceptional leadership and disruptive dominance in the ICT ecosystem in Sub-Saharan Africa.

On hand to pick up the award was Chairman, Zinox Group, Leo Stan Ekeh.

Speaking at the event, NCS President, Prof. Adesina Simon Sodiya, hailed Zinox as a force to be reckoned with in the global ICT space, even as he described the company as a leader in the Nigerian tech space and a fitting winner of the pioneer Technology Company of the Year at the NITMA awards.

“We discovered she had cancer…I couldn’t look after her”, Joke Silva discusses losing her sister and daughter #WithChude

On this week’s highly emotional and inspiring episode of #WithChude, Joke Silva shares with host Chude personal reasons for her husband – actor, Olu Jacobs’ absence from the public, losing her sister and more.  

Opening up about her relationship with her late sister, Joke Silva disclosed that she shared a special bond with her sister that translated into everything they did together. Hinting on this bond, she said, “There are discussions that I have with her that I cannot have with anyone else.” This bond she shared with her sister caused her death to hit the veteran horribly.  

Speaking of the events that led up to her sister’s death, Joke said, “when we discovered she had cancer…she called me aside and said, ‘look Joke, this what I found.’ I said, ‘Okay, we’ve got to find out what it is.’ Then we did the tests and we discovered that she had cancer.” 

After this discovery, Joke Silva wanted to care for her sister; however, she could only be present for her sister’s first lumpectomy. Sharing details on why she couldn’t take on her sister’s care, she said, “at the same time, another person I loved very much was ill. And so, I couldn’t look after her.” 

Sharing further details on this, the veteran said not being able to care for her sister was very hard for her. She, however, stated that she is grateful that a close family friend of the family was able to give her sister all the care she needed.  

The actor also touched on other emotionally-moving issues like her husband- Olu Jacob’s absence from the public, being blacklisted because she was adopted and the loss of her daughter in 1996.  

Commenting for the first time ever on the public’s curiosity about husband Olu Jacob’s whereabouts, she revealed that her husband is dealing with dementia with Lewy bodies. “It’s a degenerative disease that affects the brain, and it’s almost like a kind of Parkinson’s disease but it is the brain that it affects so you don’t see the shaking,” she said. 

Despite the events of recent years, the actor remains hopeful and grateful for life and the time currently being spent together with her husband. Smiling, she stated: “We are grateful for moments of clarity”.

Jessie J Breaks Down in Tears as She Speaks on Miscarriage

Jessie J revealed via her Instagram page that she suffered a miscarriage on Tuesday after a third scan revealed her baby no longer had a heartbeat.

During the emotional and intimate show she played in America, Jessie broke down in tears as she shared her grief with the audience.

She stated that this year has been the hardest she had to live through. From losing her hearing to losing her voice and most recently, her baby.

Jessie J shared that a long time ago, doctors had told her that she wouldn’t be able to bear children so when she decided on having a baby by herself and got pregnant, she was thrilled.

She assured everyone that at the end of the day, she’ll be okay.

Ooni abandoned daughter for years – Princess Adeola’s mother

The mother of Princess Adeola Ogunwusi, daughter of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has refuted the claims that the king raised her daughter as a single parent.

This comes as a response to the Ooni’s post on his official Instagram and Facebook pages when he celebrated Princess Adeola’s birthday on October 18, 2021.

Oba Ogunwusi stated that he raised Adeola after having the child at age 19.

However, Omolara Olatubosun, the mother of the child, has stated that Oba Ogunwusi was not present in the child’s life, especially in the first 10 years.

Olatubosun told Punch correspondent that the only time the monarch saw their child after her birth was at a wedding.

Police arraign Ayiri Emami, others for allegedly invading palace to steal N2bn crowns

The police on Wednesday arraigned the dethroned Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, Ayiri Emami, before a Warri South Chief Magistrates’ Court in Delta State for allegedly stealing two royal crowns valued at N2bn.

In the case with reference No: CR630/2021, the embattled Warri chief, who is a renowned billionaire businessman, was slammed with three counts of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The offences, according to the police prosecutor, are punishable under sections 411, 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol. 1, Laws of Delta State, 2006.

When the prosecutor read the charges to him, Emami pleaded not guilty.

Tambuwal signs child protection bill into law

Governor Aminu Tambuwal has signed into law the Sokoto state Child Protection bill earlier passed by the state House of Assembly to enhance the conditions of children in the state.

He signed the law on Monday at an elaborate ceremony attended by the UN Resident Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Edward Kallon, UNICEF’s Chief Field Officer in Sokoto, Mr Maulid Warfar, Plan International representative, and other dignitaries.

The governor noted that since the enactment of the Child Rights Act 2003 by the Federal Government led by President Olusegun Obasanjo, states were enjoined to domesticate the law which, however, become difficult to due to cultural lifestyle differences.

According to him, the law was among the major landmark achievements of his administration and commended the efforts of the key actors, in ensuring that it suited and conformed with the cultural and religious concerns of the states.

Tambuwal stressed that the state government, under his watch, would continue to live up to the expectations of the people, especially the protection of the lives of growing children and women.

Ogun monarch begs Davido to fund out-of-school children

The Eselu of Iseluland in the Yewa-North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Akintunde Akinyemi, has called on popular singer, Davido, to help fund and get out of school children back to school.

The monarch made this known in an open letter to the singer.

Marwa’s NDLEA should conduct a drug test on Lai Mohammed – Deji Adeyanju

Right activist, Deji Adeyanju has called on Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, to conduct a drug test on Information Minister, Lai Mohammed for his comment on #EndSARS panel report.

This is coming after Mr. Mohammed said on Tuesday that the report from Lagos judiciary panel on Lekki massacre is tales by moonlight, allegations and fake news.

Subsequently, Adeyanju took to Twitter to call on NDLEA to conduct a drug test on Mohammed.

Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has charged authorities of Abia State Security Fund to work assiduously to ensure that Abia residents above the age of 18 obtain the Security Support and Resident Card for effective planning of Government’s programme.

Sir. Oko Chukwu who gave the charge after receiving his own Security Support and Resident Card during a courtesy visit by Officials of Abia State Security Fund in his office, Government House, Umuahia said it is mandatory for every resident of the State to obtain the card as it will provide Government with the necessary data for planning purposes such as addressing unemployment and infrastructural development issues among others.

Lagos ENDSARS Judicial Panel report laden with allegations, fake news – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said the report of the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the alleged Lekki Toll Gate shooting is “a rehash of the unverified fake news that has been playing on social media since the incident of October 20, 2020.”

Mohammed said this during press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

The minister said it is incredible that a Judicial Panel set up to investigate an incident had submitted a report laden with allegations, “the same allegations it was set up to investigate in the first instance”.

He added that added that never in the history of any Judicial Panel in Nigeria had its report been riddled with so many errors, inconsistencies, discrepancies, speculations, innuendoes, omissions and conclusions that are not supported by evidence, as did the panel’s report.
