Falsely convicted man released after 32 years in jail

"I've been inside for 32 years, three months and 14 days. It's been that long". These were the words of Andrew Leander Wilson as he walked out of jail haven been wrongfully convicted.
Wilson went in at the age of 30 when he was convicted of murder and now at 62 he is a free man because evidence had come to light that the prosecution withheld in the case all those years ago.

Nike Releases Hijab Athletic Wear for Muslim Women, The Nike Pro Hijab

Nike just announced it’s created its first athletic-wear hijab, called the “Nike Pro Hijab.” The campaign photos features the hijab-wearing Muslim pageant contestant turned model, Halima Aden. United Arab Emirates’ Amna Al Haddad, Nike+ Run Club Coach Manal Rostom, and Emirati figure skater Zahra Lari to determine the functionality of the head covering and if it meets the cultural requirements of some female Muslim athletes.

In a statement made to CNN, Emirati Figure Skater Lari said

“I was thrilled and a bit emotional to see Nike prototyping a Hijab, “I’ve tried so many different hijabs for performance, and … so few of them actually work for me. But once I put it on and took it for a spin on the ice, I was blown away by the fit and the light weight.”

Selena Gomez , who has 114m followers on instagram is the cover girl for the April issue of America's Vogue magazine and the svelte actress/singer shared photos from the shoot. She sizzled as she posed on the magazine cover in a sequin floral bralet that showed off her taut abs.

  She wearing an embellished red leather jacket with tiny shorts as she sits on a beach. The Monte Carlo actress also sat with Vogue's Rob Haskell to discuss getting into a psychiatric facility as a result of the pressures from her Revival tour.

"Tours are a really lonely place for me. My self-esteem was shot. I was depressed, anxious. I started to have panic attacks right before getting on stage, or right after leaving the stage. Basically, I felt I wasn’t good enough, wasn’t capable.  

"I felt I wasn’t giving my fans anything, and they could see it—which, I think, was a complete distortion. I was so used to performing for kids... Suddenly I have kids smoking and drinking at my shows, people in their 20s, 30s, and I’m looking into their eyes, and I don’t know what to say.... 

"What I wanted to say is that life is so stressful, and I get the desire to just escape it. But I wasn’t figuring my own stuff out, so I felt I had no wisdom to share... Maybe I thought everybody out there was thinking, This is a waste of time."

She spent 90 days receiving treatment for her feelings of anxiety and being burned out.  Selena seems to be in a good place now and is in a steady romantic relationship with singer The Weekend having split from Justin Bieber. a while back. It's obvious she can afford a pick of the most eligible bachelors because of her fame, however, she's revealed she is tired of it.

"Look, I love what I do, and I’m aware of how lucky I am. But – how can I say this without sounding weird? – I just really can’t wait for people to forget about me."

Female Corper Allegedly Brutalized By Federal Government’s N-Power Teacher In Delta

A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps was allegedly beaten and brutalized by a newly recruited FG’s N-Power teacher in Delta State over money allocation.

Read the mail sent in by one Kasumu Mariam, a friend of the victim:

“Good day, my name is kasumu mariam omotoyosi. I am a Corp member, currently serving in edo state. . I would like to report a case involving on of my friend who is serving in delta state. Her PPA is ‎Obodeti senior secondary commercial school, Ndokwa west LG.

She was beaten up by an N-power teacher named Enuofu Benjamin because she refused to handover the money allocated to their house inter house sport for him to flex with it. .

After the incident, she reported at Abbi police station, Delta state, but nothing has been done about it. She also reported to her local government inspector and no action has been taken. I have attached pictures as a proof and also a copy of the IDcard of the Corp member in question.”

Basketmouth who was at the Lagos State Commissioner of Police's office , to pick up stolen mobile phones, recovered by officers of the Nigerian Police after the robbery attack in his home last year, has promised never to crack negative jokes about the Nigerian Police again.

The ace Comedian said ;

“I want to thank the Nigeria Police for a job well-done. I thought I will never see again the items stolen from my house. It is amazing that with two weeks of the robbery attack, the suspects were arrested, my handset recovered.
I usually make negative jokes about our police, but with this performance, I will never use them for negative jokes. I advice members of the public to always support the police. In western nations, it is the public that assist the police for information against criminals.” On his own part, the commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, disclosed that Basketmouth's visit will help boost the morale of his men, and also stressed that the Lagos State Police Command is committed to safeguarding the lives of every citizen of Nigeria. He also asked the public to be vigilant, and always report whatever they see.
Two suspects have been arrested and will be charged to court, over the September 7, 2016 armed robbery attack at Basketmouth's house in Lekki area of Lagos State.

Nigerian Federal Government warns : Take any drugs with water

Fanta and Sprite should not be used to take any medicine,although they are safe for consumption, the federal government advices. 

The Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, said the two beverages, manufactured by the Nigeria Bottling Company, NBC, are safe for human consumption but cannot be taken with any drug. 

The minister stated these on Friday, after a meeting with the Department of Food and Drug Services, Federal Ministry of Health; National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC; and Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON; to address the concerns raised over the drinks by a judgement of a Lagos High Court. 

The Court had ordered NAFDAC to direct the Nigeria Bottling Company Plc to include a warning on the bottles of the products that the contents cannot be taken with Vitamin C. 

The judgment was on a suit filed by a Lagos-based businessman, Emmanuel Adebo, against NBC Plc and NAFDAC. 

In his suit, Mr Adebo urged the court to declare that NBC was negligent to its consumers by bottling Fanta and Sprite with excessive levels of benzoic acid and sunset additives. 

He had tried to export Nigeria-produced Fanta and Sprite to the UK, where they were described as poisonous by authorities there and destroyed.

Sierra Leonean pastor finds 706-carat diamond, donates it to the government

A Sierra Leonean Pastor who found what could be said to be one of the world’s largest uncut diamonds, weighing 706 carats, and worth over $50M, has donated the diamond, which could be the 10th largest ever found to the Sierra Leonean Government.

The diamond which was found in Sierra Leone’s eastern Kono region by
Emmanuel Momoh, was handed over to President Ernest Koroma by the Pastor who is also a local chief
The Sierra Leonean Government also disclosed that it will auction the diamond and specially thanked the Pastor for not smuggling it out.

“He (Koroma) underscored the importance of selling such a diamond here as it will clearly give the owners what is due them and benefit the country as a whole,” the statement said.Here are more photos after the cut;
