Kogi State Fences Schools to Hinder Terror

The Kogi State Government has completed plans to fence all schools as part of plans of shielding students and educators from terror. Deputy State Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, said the decision to begin the fencing of schools, was occasioned by the spate of insecurity and attacks on educational institutions in some part of Nigeria.

The Boko Haram sect is targeting schools during its terror siege. Awoniyi disclosed that aside the relative peace being witnessed in the state, the decision to fence the schools was a proactive measure geared towards safe guarding lives and properties in institutions of learning across the state.

Plane carrying Buhari denied Landing Permit at Makurdi Airport

Presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari was on Wednesday refused landing permit at the Makurdi Airport and his planned visit to Benue State cancelled.

Buhari, a former head of state was to visit the agrarian state to engage opposition stakeholders, delegates and party supporters ahead of the party’s primaries. The Makurdi Airport situated in the NAF Base, located along Makurdi-Gboko expressway was crowded by ardent APC supporters who converged at the place to welcome the presidential aspirant. They had arrived the airport as early as 8.am. Strangely, after waiting at the airport for several hours, some of the APC officials suddenly informed the supporters that Buhari will no longer visit the state. They said that the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had ordered that the flight conveying the opposition leader should not be granted landing permit. The opposition chieftains and supporters who thronged the airport in their hundreds were disappointed. They angrily dispersed from the place as soon as they heard the news, wearing long faces. It was alleged that the denial of the landing right as directed by FAAN officials was induced by the ruling PDP and that the action was carried out to prevent him (Buhari) from discussing with Chief Samuel Ortom, who is preparing to dump the PDP. However, the state chairman of APC, Comrade Abba Yaro who spoke to newsmen confirmed the situation. He said “Our presidential aspirant, Buhari was to visit the state to discuss with delegates and party supporters ahead of the primaries. He actually left Bayelsa for Benue and don’t forget, he was initially granted landing by the airport authorities in the morning, just for them to suddenly deny his flight to land when the supporters were already waiting to receive him.”

She told an earlier hearing that she initially spurned his advances, but the pair later bonded over the film Malcolm X. They married in Washington DC in 1995 and had four children – triplets, now aged 12, and an older child of 15.They split up in December 2012, with Mrs Cooper-Hohn divorcing Sir Chris in April 2013 Mrs Cooper-Hohn said she should get half of the couple’s fortune because the wealth was created as a result of their ‘partnership’. Sir Chris said she should receive a quarter. Mrs Cooper-Hohn claimed their joint assets were around £849 million – and added that her ex-husband was worth at least £872 million from personal assets and his hedge fund, for a combined total of £1.72billion. She said: ‘When Chris and I first met, I asked him what he wanted to do. He said “I don’t mind as long as I make a lot of money”.’ However, Sir Chris,claimed he is worth a mere £67 million.He said I learned very early on that you can’t take money with you and that it doesn’t bring happiness. The Lagos state Police command has rescued one Miss Sa’adat Bibire, who is the current Miss Nigeria International 2014 & daughter of an aide to Kwara state Governor, from her abductors.

The beauty queen was abducted two weeks ago by a gang of kidnappers who lured her into visiting Warri, Delta state from Lagos by impersonating Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote on the social media platform facebook. Pardaing the suspects before journalists on Wednesday, the Lagos state police commissioner, said “the gang is made up of students of the Delta state Polytechnic Ozoro…they opened a Facebook account disguising as Aliko Dangote and contacted Sa'adat. They invited her to Warri with the promise to make her Dangote brand ambassador. On getting to Warri, Sa'adat was kidnapped and taken to a place on the outskirts of Ozoro town in Isoko Local Government Area in Delta state. The kidnappers then contacted her family and asked for N20m ransom, which was supposed to be paid into a Malaysian account. We began a manhunt for them after they contacted the girl’s family but only one of them was arrested while the others are currently on the run.” In his statement to the police, one of her abductors, 23 year old Patrick Ifada said he was lured into the kidnap gang because of the money offered "I accepted to join the gang because of the money involved. We opened a fake Facebook account pretending to be Alhaji Aliko Dangote and we convinced her to come over to Delta State to meet the businessman. At first, our ransom was N20 million. When they were not forthcoming with the money, we brought it down to N15 million and then N10 million. I was the one staying with the victim in our hideout. We were using the quarters of one of our members, Destiny. We are five in number and I was promised a huge sum. Other gang members are Destiny, Marcus Omajuwa, Ugada and Chuka. We are all students of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, ND 1. I was studying Computer Science. She was in our hideout for about two weeks. We asked the Special Adviser to pay the ransom into a Malaysian account that one Fred helped us to set up. None of us raped her. Destiny told us we were only going to make money from her family, and not to assault her"
