The classy 38th birthday dinner hosted by Toyin Lawani was huge and she practically shut down Istanbul in Turkey.

The actual birthday party was held at the Galata Olympus restaurant in Istanbul. Each guest turned out in the black dress code for the party. The dinner was anchored by MC Sleek while DJ Musty was in charge of the music. Subsequently, guests moved to the Fox Club in Denizkoskler also in Istanbul for the after-party that continued into the early morning of the next day. For this part after parte, it was lit as 4 DJs were on the wheels of steel churning out good music.

The DJs were DJ Ugobeatz, DJ Cruzz, DJ Lamz while the guest DJ is DJ Musty. The MCs also were 4 and it's only Toyin who likes to show his uniqueness by doing his things differently. The 4 MCs who coordinated the event as hype men were Mc Elegant, MC Mode, MC Bayo, MC Kenny. It was a memorable event as Toyin shone in 20 different outfits that portrayed her struggle along the way as a single mother and serial entrepreneur telling a story of every 20 outfits. Some of the celebrity girls who stormed Istanbul were Iyabo Ojo, Miss Jess, CEO of Jo coughtrie, Preshjojo, Fola popularly called flakki, pretty boss of the Zara empire, Abiri Busayo popularly known as Kokobykhloe of BBN, Alade Onipe and many more.

Nigerian filmmaker, Tchidi Chikere took to Instagram to praise his nanny as he reunited with her. He also said he's adopted her as his mother.

Narratting some childhood memories his nanny relayed to him, the filmmaker said it made him emotional and also made him feel like his late mum came back alive.

Chikere wrote;

This woman here "carried" me when I was a baby. She was my Nanny. So we met!!! Awolowo died without Christ, he never fulfilled his destiny – Olukoya

General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, MFM, Pastor Daniel Olukoya has said that the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo never fulfilled his destiny because he did not give his life to Christ.

He said despite the greatness and exploit of Awolowo on the political scene, he refused to give his life to Christ even when the great Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola once went to his house.

In one of his preaching, as captured by Church Gist, a popular Facebook Christian page, Olukoya said “The great Apostle, Joseph Ayo Babalola once went to the house of Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Who knows Chief Obafemi Awolowo? Awo. Anybody heard about Awo?

“Now let me be honest with you as a man of God. By the time the Civil War of Nigeria ended, Ojukwu (Odumegwu) said something. He said, “Nigeria did not fight us, Awo fought us”…Because he was Minister of Finance at that time and Nigeria did not borrow 1 Kobo. Not only that, he gave some advice that made victory possible. Then when he died, Ojukwu now said, this man was ‘the best President Nigeria never had’ and when you say Presidential Debate and you put Awo on TV to be debating with the others, by the time Awo begins to talk, the others look like fools. They look like fools because the knowledge with which he is talking and what he is saying, makes them look like fools.”

Dubai Crown Prince pays hospital bills of Nigerian mother stranded with quadruplets

Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has paid hospital expenses for a Nigerian mother and her quarters stranded in the city with a growing medical bill, according to the hospital.

Suliyat Adulkareem, 29, gave birth to babies, two boys and two girls, at Latifa Hospital for Women and Boys on 1 July.

They were born prematurely at nearly 31 weeks through an emergency C-section and placed on fans in the neonatal intensive care unit, the hospital said in a statement.

However, the family had no health insurance and amassed more than AED 400,000 (about $108,000) in medical expenses since the babies were born, his father Tijani Abdulkareem told CNN.

Zambia Education Minister sacked after nude videos go viral

#Jaiyeorie Zambian leader Edgar Lungu on Wednesday fired his education minister, David Mabumba, the presidency said, after n.u.d.e video clips of him went viral on social media.

A statement from the presidency did not give reasons for his removal but it came after explicit video clips of the minister were leaked on Twitter, Facebook and shared via Whatsapp.

It only said Lungu “had terminated the appointment of Minister of General Education… with immediate effect”.

Hydroxychloroquine saga: Professor says it CURES Covid-19

Debate continues to rage over the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine as cure for Covid-19.

The World Health Organisation initially recommended the drug, but later withdrew the recommendation. This followed some scientific studies that discredited the drug and also pointed out some fatal side effects.

Cameroonian-born Dr Stella Immanuel on Monday in Washington D.C. brought the drug back into public arena, claiming she had used it, along with Zinc and Azithromycyin, to great effect, to treat 350 Covid-19 patients.

Anthony Fauci, a member of the White House coronavirus task force and the nation’s top infectious disease expert, again stated, in light of the Immanuel video, that the drug is not effective in treating Covid-19.

Fauci told MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell on Wednesday that scientific evidence has shown “consistently that hydroxychloroquine is not effective in the treatment of coronavirus disease, or Covid-19.”

James Ibori becomes patron of ‘Former Governors Forum’

A former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori, has been appointed as patron of the Former Governors Forum, a group made up of past state governors in Nigeria.

In a letter signed by Chairman of the group and former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, and Prof Tunde Esan, the Executive Secretary, Ibori’s appointment took effect from July 13, 2020.

The letter reads partly, “In line with the provisions of the Former Governors Forum and based on the unanimous decision of the Executive Committee of the Forum, we convey to you your appointment as Patron of the Forum.

“The Forum recognises your role not only as a former governor but equally as a respected elder statesman with passion for the promotion of unity in Nigeria, which is the major objective of the Forum.

“In addition, your role as Patron will be invaluable in the development of good leadership qualities among emerging leaders in Nigeria.”

Governor of Delta state from 1999 to 2007, Ibori was in 2012 sentenced to many years in prison for money laundering by a court in the United Kingdom.

 Nneka the Pretty Serpent had an ensemble cast of some of the biggest names in Nollywood today. Veteran actress Ndidi Obi played the titular Nneka, a performance that earned her widespread acclaim at the time.
Nneka the Pretty Serpent also starred Eucharia Anunobi, Ngozi Ezeonu, Rita Nzelu, Sam Loco, Kanayo O.Kanayo, James Iroha, Claude Eke and late singer Nelly Uchendu. Today’s Nollywood legends Ejike Asiegbu and Chinwetalu Agu also had minor roles in the movie.
Produced by Okechukwu Ogunjiofor and directed by Zeb Ejiro, Nneka the Pretty Serpent was a commercial success in the 90s.

Zimbabwean novelist Tsitsi Dangarembga and Ethiopian-American author Maaza Mengiste are among 13 authors on a list of contenders for the prestigious Booker Prize for fiction this year. 
Their two novels, “This Mournable Body” and “The Shadow King” respectively, have been selected from 162 novels by a panel of five judges.
Mengiste took to Twitter to celebrate the news, writing:

In 2019, Nigerian writers Chigozie Obioma and Oyinkan Braithwaite made the longlist, with Obioma going on to make the shortlist of the prize that was eventually jointly won by British-Nigerian writer Bernadine Evaristo and American Margaret Atwood.
According to The Booker Prize, the shortlist of six books will be announced on Tuesday, 15 September. While the 2020 winner will be announced in November.

Dr Stella Immanuel said in a viral Facebook video that COVID-19 is curable with a combination of hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and zinc.

Dr Stella Immanuel was born in Cameroon but did her medical training in Nigeria, according to The Daily Beast.
The video of Dr Stella Immanuel promoting the use of hydroxychloroquine for treating COVID-19 reached 13 million views on Facebook before it was taken down.
The video has also been subsequently removed on YouTube and Twitter after being tagged as false information. In the video, Dr Stella Immanuel assured her listeners that they do not need to wear a mask because coronavirus has a cure.
