Nike honours LeBron James by naming new building at World Headquarters after him

Nike has announced it has named the latest building in its World Headquarters (WHQ) campus expansion after Los Angeles Lakers forward, LeBron James.
The company announced on Thursday, September 5, that the LeBron James Building is the sixth new building added to the Beaverton, Oregon campus since the expansion began in 2015, and will house Nike’s Advanced Innovation team, including its state-of-the-art Sport Research Lab.
The team is comprised of “scientists, designers, engineers and more, collectively focusing on inventing the products and services that make all athletes better,” according to Nike’s announcement.
The new lab will be five times the size of the current facility, and among the building’s other amenities are a full NBA-size basketball court, 200-meter track, a 100-meter straightaway and an artificial turf field. There will also be a 500-plus-foot ramp at a 15.63% incline on the outside of the building for athletes to train in lieu of natural hills, Nike said.

Argentina legend Diego Maradona named Gimnasia head coach

Gimnasia – nicknamed El Lobo, which means ‘the Wolf’ – are bottom of the Primera Division.
“Star of world football Diego Maradona has signed his name and is the new coach of Gimnasia,” the club said.
Maradona, who shared Fifa’s Player of the 20th Century award with Brazilian great Pele, takes on a team who have gained one point from their past five matches.
He left his previous managerial role of Mexico second division outfit Dorados de Sinaloa in June, citing issues with his health, after failing to secure promotion to the top flight.
“Finally it’s now official,” Maradona wrote on Instagram. “I am very happy to be the new coach of Gimnasia.

E-border Operations To Commence 2021, Says Immigration Boss

The Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, has said the Federal Government’s planned electronic border monitoring will commence fully in 2021.
Babandede, stated this at the NIS management retreat in Lagos on Friday, said the e-border would enable officials to see real time online situation of the country’s borders.
He said the programme would be implemented in two years where the 4,047 kilometres of land borders, covering 86 border-control post, comprising six mega-control posts, 16 medium-control posts and 64 mini-control posts, would be monitored.The Federal Executive Council in April approved N52bn for the electronic monitoring of Nigeria’s borders.

Facebook launches dating service in United States

Facebook Inc (FB.O) is launching its dating services in the United States, the social network said on Thursday, sending its shares up 2%.

The company said users will be able to integrate their Instagram accounts with Facebook’s dating profile and add Instagram followers to their “Secret Crush” lists. That feature allows users to indicate romantic interest in a friend, without the attraction becoming public. If two friends each tag the other as a crush, Facebook Dating alerts both of the interest.
