According to Andrew Cornelius a.k.a Bishop Rex, he made efforts to promote his artist through DMW Records from which he learned that making arrangements with the crew members would get him access to the singer himself.

After paying millions of naira to have his artist feature O.B.O, he was linked up with Davido and his artist was promised to be signed under the label.

He was detained for allegedly transporting drugs, according to the city prosecutor’s office.

NBA star James Harden was also stopped but not detained, the prosecutor’s office said.

FIRS hires banks to recover N1.8T from DSTV

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has engaged some commercial banks as agents to freeze  to recover N1.8 trillion from accounts of Messrs MultiChoice Nigeria Limited (MCN) And MultiChoice Africa (MCA), owners of DSTV.

Mr Abdullahi Ahmad, FIRS Director, Communications and Liaison Department said the decision to appoint the banks as agents and to freeze the accounts followed the groups’ continued refusal to grant FIRS access to their servers for audit.

FIRS said it discovered that the companies persistently breached all agreements and undertakings with the Service.

The Executive Chairman FIRS, Mr Muhammad Nami, was quoted as saying, “the companies would not promptly respond to correspondences, they lacked data integrity and are not transparent as they continually deny FIRS access to their records.

Darius Ishaku, says that as part of the country’s efforts to combat insecurity, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) should be allowed to undergo military training.

The governor who was a guest on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Wednesday, also said the scheme should be extended to 2 years with the first involving core military training.

NYSC which runs for a year was designed by the Nigerian government in 1973 to encourage nation-building among graduates.

But the governor believes that an extension of the duration would better equip graduates with self-defence techniques especially at a time like this when national insecurity is now rife.

Nollywood actor and producer Yomi Fabiyi has said nobody has banned his new controversial movie — “Oko Iyabo”.

According to the filmmaker, the movie is about Iyabo Ojo and I, fighting a child abuse case from a different angle.

He said he wasn’t cashing in and making light of the matter but writing his own side of the story.

Fabiyi’s new film “Oko Iyabo”, which has suffered backlash from social media users, depicts the s3xual assault case involving fellow actor, Baba Ijesha.

“I hand you all to your consciences and God. No amount of all these can pull me down. AND NOBODY BANNED MY MOVIE. We private it deliberately just to give room for calm,” Fabiyi wrote on his Instagram story addressing the concerns around the film.

Fabiyi had earlier said the film which critics claimed made a mockery of the victim, was actually meant to “correct” the child abuse and assault.

He said he had been called unprintable names by Iyabo and Princess for standing by what is right in videos that were circulated online.

Man Who Trespassed on Rihanna’s Property Reportedly Escapes Before Police Arrives

TMZ is reporting that the police were called to one of Rihanna’s homes in Los Angeles last night, after a man trespassed into her residence, jumping over her gates,

Per the outlet, the police were alerted and soon arrived at the scene. However, the suspect was no longer around and security guards who filed the report shared that the man had leapt over one of the walls surrounding the home.

Complex adds:

Once the man cleared the wall, he didn’t stay long. The cops are still investigating, and it’s currently unclear how the man might have left the residence, although it may have been the same way he got in. It’s also being reported that Rihanna was not home when the incident took place.

Rihanna, who had endured trespassing cases in the past, had yet to address this as at press time.

NYSC announces National Environmental Sanitation Day July 17

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says it will hold a National Environmental Sanitation Day on July 17, in all the Local Government Communities nationwide.

This is contained in a statement issued by Mrs Christy Olatoye, the Oyo State NYSC Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, prior to the exercise, there will be sensitisation and mobilisation of stakeholders and community leaders, to identify the areas of need at the local government levels.

The statement noted that a greater percentage of ailments recorded and treated among corps members had a direct relationship with poor sanitation and hygiene practices, thus necessitating the exercise by the scheme.

“The Oyo State NYSC coordinator, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe, the entire staff and serving corps members in the state will carry out the sanitation exercise, within the 33 local government areas of the state,” the statement stated.

Ini Edo who started out as a teenager has grown to become one of the most sought after actresses in the industry.

The actress in a statement stressed that she came out as a teenager struggling to find her true identity.

She wrote, ”I’ve been all kinds of mood today and these pictures videos and all your beautiful comments just literally lifted my spirit . Thank you so much and yes it’s been 20years of being in your faces. I came out here as teenager struggling to find my true identity. Made mistakes,made successes but what I never did was give up on myself . Warri man Okpako dies in hotel after taking s.e.x enhancement drugs

Okpako fell unconscious and later died in a hotel in Warri, where he had checked in with a sales girl in his wife’s shop.

He was suspected to have consumed some s.e.x-enhancement drug.

The incident occurred at the Odibo Extension of Igbudu area of the oil-rich city, where the man’s wife also has a shop.

The victim was the chairman of Mile 2, in Igbudu Market.

Police arrests 3 over possession of ₦15million fake notes

Niger State Police Command has paraded 3 suspects for being in possession of fake ₦1,000 notes, amounting to the tune of N15.830 million.

The suspects are Pastor Sabastine Dabu, 48years from Zuru, Kebbi State, Emmanuel Aka Zuwa, 42years from Adi village, in Buruku local council of Benue state, and Umar Mohammed, 50years of Pandogari, Rafi local council in Niger State.

While, parading the suspects at the Police Headquarters in Minna, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Wasiu Abiodun, explained that the suspects were arrested by Police in Kontagora local council of Niger State.

Haiti's President Jovenel Moise assassinated in his home

Jovenel Moïse has been assassinated in an attack on his home, according to a statement from the country’s interim prime minister, who called the killing a “hateful, inhumane and barbaric act”.

A group of unidentified individuals attacked Moïse’s private residence on Wednesday and shot him dead, interim Premier Claude Joseph said.

First Lady Martine Moïse was shot in the attack and was hospitalised, Joseph said. Her condition was not immediately clear.

Italy beat Spain on penalties to reach the Euro 2020 final after an enthralling semi-final at a noisy Wembley.

After Alvaro Morata’s penalty was saved, Jorginho strolled up to score and set up a final with either England or Denmark in London on Sunday.

Federico Chiesa looked as if he had sent Italy – who are unbeaten in 33 games – to the final in normal time with a delightful curled finish to cap off a quick counter.

 Morata stepped off the bench to slot an equaliser with 10 minutes to go after a one-two with Dani Olmo.

Emiliano Sala’s sister ‘in critical condition after trying to take her own life’

Emiliano Sala’s 29-year-old sister is reportedly in a critical condition after attempting to take her own life more than two years after the footballer’s disappearance and death, according to Argentine media.

Romina Sala, who has been the spokeswoman for the family since January 2019, is being treated in the Jose Maria Cullen Hospital in Santa Fe, Argentina, unnamed hospital sources told website TN Deportivo.

She has continued to post about her brother on social media following his tragic death. Sharing an image on his birthday, October 31, two years ago, she wrote: ‘There are no words that can describe the pain.

“Happy birthday brother! Where ever you are, give us the strength to go on.

“I wish everything were different… I promise you we will not stop until the end. Kisses to heaven.”

Davido has taken to his Twitter to share his tribute to his team member, Obama DMW, who passed away a few days ago, saying that the death has deeply affected him.

“This is by far the hardest thing I’ve had to write,” he said, adding, “Hurt, broken, sad, and lost. For the first time in my life, I am EXTREMELY confused. The pain is one I cannot explain. 44 was more than an elder brother to me, he was a protector. someone that literally just always made me smile.”

He continued, “You became so peaceful. You [f]ound peace and purpose, a true generational influence. I cannot even begin to count the amount of people you helped, artistes you brought to me, people you brought together in nothing but love and brotherhood. Actors, artistes, influencers all. God!”

And he promised to take care of Obama’s family: “And to Malik, even though you are taller than me, you are basically my son. Doing so well in school, passing with flying colours. I have to be strong for you, and u have to be strong for the family, your mom . Everything 44 wanted to do for you, we will finish it together.”

Suzzanne Douglas Passes Away At 64

 Suzzanne Douglas has passed away.

A family member took to Facebook on Tuesday (July 6) to share the heartbreaking news. 

Suzzanne Douglas a beautiful and talented actress made her transition today. She warmed our hearts on movie screens and television sets all over the world. This beautiful soul was my cousin.

 

I can remember growing up, there weren’t very many black actresses who had starring roles but there was my cousin with the lead role in “Tap” starring alongside great dancers such as Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis Jr.

 

She also performed with Angela Bassett and Whoopi Goldberg in “How Stella Got Her Groove Back.” The Inkwell, Jason’s Lyric and so much more the list goes on.

 

The world will miss your talent but your soul will live on forever Rest in Paradise my beautiful cousin Suzzane you will be missed RIP

 Suzzanne , came to my cognizance during my childhood as one of my favorite TV moms on “The Parent ‘Hood.”

She gave a beautiful performance in Ava DuVernay‘s limited series, “When They See Us.”

Ava took to social media to remember Suzzanne as a “gem.”

Suzzanne Douglas was a quiet, elegant force as we made WHEN THEY SEE US. A gentlewoman. A gem of a lady. A confident, caring actor who breathed life into the words and made them shimmer. I’m grateful that our paths in this life crossed. May she journey on in peace and love.

Her cause of death has not been disclosed, however, in January, Suzzanne mentioned her life was changed by 2 life-threatening cancers.
