Visa, PayPal to Allow Customers to Pay With Cryptocurrency

Visa and PayPal recently announced that they would allow the use of Cryptocurrency on their platforms.

According to a Reuters report, Visa said yesterday that it would allow customers to specifically use the cryptocurrency USD Coin in transactions made across its payment network. Visa told the news wire that it launched a pilot program with Crypto.com — a crypto platform — and will seek out other partners later this year.

NYSC Demands Deployment Of More Military Troupes In Orientation Camp

The National Youth Service Corps has appealed for increased deployment of troops in its orientation camps across the country to protect corps members from bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements.

The Chairman of the NYSC Governing Council, Amb. Fatima Abubakar, made the request at the Army Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, when she led other members of the council on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.

Abubakar noted that the security provided at NYSC camps by soldiers during the #EndSARS protests, prevented the wanton destruction of properties at the camps by hoodlums.

Speaking after the historic match watched by a few thousand fans in compliance with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) directives, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said he was excited, like many other Lagosians, to witness the homecoming of the darling Super Eagles as they played their AFCON qualifier at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos State.

He said, “Sports is an important part of the present administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S agenda for Lagos. We have invested in developing our sports infrastructure, setting forward a clear mandate and plan to ensure Lagos is the number one destination for all our Sports Teams”.

LNX has been consistently trending after releasing his controversial music video “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).”

Then, he doubled down with the announcement of his forthcoming Satan Shoes and it’s left many people disturbed and concerned about the young man.

Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos reveals calf injury which could see him miss Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool and El Clasico clash with Barcelona

Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos has revealed he has picked up a calf injury whilst on international duty with Spain and looks set to miss the Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool and El Clasico clash with Barcelona. 

The 35-year-old defender featured for Spain against Kosovo on Wednesday, March 31, but in an emotional Instagram post on Thursday, Ramos disclosed he had picked up a problem in his left calf.  

Reports coming out of Spain indicate Ramos will be out for a month, meaning he won't be available for Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool, with the first-leg taking place next week. He will also miss El Clasico against Barcelona at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano on April 10.  

Ramos began: 'The truth is that I have been a pretty tough few weeks. An intervention is always a sporting and emotional break. 

'Luckily, for a few days now I have been feeling better, but in football as in life, bad luck also plays a role.

'Yesterday, after the game, I was training on the pitch and I noticed a puncture in my left calf. Today I have been tested and it has been confirmed that I have a muscle injury.

'If there is something that hurts me, it is not being able to help the team in these highly demanding matches in which we play the season and also not being able to return the love and energy that you transmit to me on the pitch.

'I can't do anything but speak frankly, work hard and cheer on the team with my soul.'

Why I refused to accept IGP's invitation — Sunday Igboho

Yoruba rights activist Sunday Igboho has revealed he turned down two invitation letters by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

In a statement by his media aide, Olayomi Koiki, Igboho said the letters were sent on Thursday to him via a courier service and another with about 15 police officers.

He said his security operatives refused to accept the letters for security reasons.

The statement reads: “We would like to tell the international communities and every Nigerian that this morning 1st of April, 2021, a letter was sent via DHL to Chief Sunday Igboho but the letter was not received by his security operatives.

“Later around 3 pm of the same day, a team of about 6 men without uniform arrived in a Corolla car and another 9 were in police uniform but all were identified as police officers.

Failure to register for NIN will result in a 14-year imprisonment – Isa Ali Pantami

Communications and Digital Economy, Minister, Isa Pantami, has reminded all Nigerians to enroll for the NIN (National Identification Number) stressing that no country would be successful without a reliable database of its citizens.⁣

He also stated that those who fail to obtain their NINs and link them with their mobile numbers risk seven or 14 years behind bars as stipulated in the nation’s constitution.⁣

He made this known during a weekly media briefing at the State House in Abuja.

“Based on the requirement by law, each and every citizen and legal resident must obtain his/her National Identification Number (NIN), which is being coordinated by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC),” the minister said. “It’s a requirement by law but many citizens ignore it.⁣

Nigerian beauty queen shot dead in US

Najeebat Sule, a former Nigerian beauty queen and doctorate student from Philadelphia, United States was shot dead three weeks ago and up till now the police have not found a motive and have made no arrests.

Reports say Najeebat Sule was shot multiple times by a gunman while sitting in her Toyota car and texting with a friend in front of her family’s home on March 12.

Her parents are in hiding out of fear for their lives.

Known to her loved ones as Najee, she had only recently earned a Master’s degree in public health.

In 2019, she was crowned a second runner-up at the Miss Nigeria International pageant. The 24-year-old was pursuing a doctorate at the time of her violent death.

Fashanu reveals Super Eagles’ new goal king

Former Wimbledon star, John Fashanu, has praised Paul Onuachu as the Nigeria national team ‘goal king’.

Onuachu, who plays for Genk in Belgium, has netted 27 goals and providing two assists in 32 appearances, amid other dazzling displays.

He was, however, surprisingly dropped from the Super Eagles initial 24-man squad for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Onuachu was recalled to the team following the inability of Nantes forward Moses Simon to honour his invitation due to the Covid-19 rules in France.

The 26-year-old went on to replicate his impressive club performances for the three-time African champions, scoring the match-winner against the Republic of Benin and finding the back of the net against Lesotho to help Nigeria secure back-to-back victories.

Detectives refuse to reveal cause of Tiger Woods’ accident

Detectives have determined the cause of Tiger Woods’ car crash last month in Southern California, but would not release details.

The Los Angeles Country sheriff on Wednesday, cited unspecified privacy concerns for Woods.

Woods suffered serious injuries in the February 23 crash when he struck a raised median around 7am in Rolling Hills Estates, just outside Los Angeles.

The golfer is in Florida recovering from multiple surgeries.

Investigators did not seek a search warrant for Woods’ blood samples, which could be screened for drugs and alcohol.

In 2017, Woods checked himself into a clinic for help in dealing with prescription drug medication after a DUI charge in his home state of Florida.

ESPN reports that the Spanish defender has picked up a calf muscle injury on international duty.

Ramos became aware of the issue on Wednesday after coming on as an 86th minute substitute in Spain’s 3-1 World Cup qualifying win over Kosovo in Seville.

“After tests carried out on our captain Sergio Ramos by Real Madrid’s medical services, he has been diagnosed with an injury in the calf muscle of his left leg,” Real Madrid said in a statement on Thursday.

Madrid host Liverpool in the first leg of their quarter-final tie on April 6, before playing Barca on April 10, and then travelling for the return leg with Liverpool on April 14.

‘Buhari Govt massively looting Nigeria’ – US report

A report by the United States Department of State has described as “widespread and pervasive” the manifestation of corruption under the regime of President Buhari.

The U.S. in its 2020 annual report on human rights said Buhari’s government has failed to take action to stop widespread looting using existing laws that criminalize theft in public service.

“Although the law provides criminal penalties for conviction of official corruption, the government did not consistently implement the law, and government employees frequently engaged in corrupt practices with impunity,” the U.S. report said.

“Massive, widespread, and pervasive corruption affected all levels of government, including the judiciary and security services.”
