NCC commiserates with Board Chairman Prof. Adeolu Akande whose 19-year-old daughter committed suicide

The Director, Public Affairs of NCC, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, in a statement on Friday, May 14, described late Feranmi as a promising student.

 

"Miss Fasunle, aged 19, was a promising 200-Level student of Political Science at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, who dreamt of reading Law as a second degree," the statement reads.

 

"She died in the early hours of Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State, following spirited efforts to save her. The Commission, therefore, expresses the heartfelt condolences of its Board, Management and entire staff over the sad development.

 

"While we, at the Commission, identify with the entire family at this grieving period, we are, however, consoled by the fact that the young lady died pursuing an intellectual vision that would have added great value to humanity.

"It is our solemn and collective prayer that God grant her eternal peace and give the entire family of our Chairman the grace and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss."

Anthony Mackie made fun of being able to appear in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.

The 42-year-old actor played the role of Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, implying that the Disney + series “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” could return to Wakanda after visiting a fictional nation.

Asked if he could appear in the sequel, Anthony said, “I have a Wakanda visa, so I can go to Wakanda as much as I want.

“I have a passport and a Wakanda vaccination and have been vaccinated so I can go to Wakanda.”

A few weeks after celebrating the 3000th episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show“,Ellen DeGeneres is revealing in details the reason she is ending the eponymous talk show after 18 years and its upcoming 19th season, in spring 2022.

Ellen DeGeneres is reportedly set to end her eponymous talk show after 18 seasons, following accusations that she allowed a toxic work environment.

After 18 seasons on air and huge ratings, the talk-show host is expected to make an announcement explaining why she’s pulling the plug today, May 12, according to The Daily Mail.

The publication have said that a source told them it’s because Ellen "has had enough and told her team that she’s done".

The insider said: "She's promised one more season after this one and will exit at the end of the 2021/2022 season.

This comes as several former and current employees of The Ellen Show accused the 63-year-old host of ignoring "bullying" by executives.

The employees in question also accused the star of fostering a "toxic" work environment in general.

Ellen had apologized following the accusations.

“When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged — and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” Ellen told  The Hollywood Reporter when she first made the announcement on Wednesday.

Originally slated for November 29, 2019, the film’s delayed cinema release was reportedly influenced by powerful figures who did not want the film release. FG extends Work-from-Home Directive to June 11

The Federal Government has directed that work-from-home for civil servants on Grade Level 12 and below, should be extended till June 11. 

Civil servants were directed by the Presidential Steering Committee On COVID-19 domiciled in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, to work from home till June 11, 2021, after which the directive may be reviewed.

PSC's  National Incident Manager, Mukhtar Mohammed who gave the directive said; 

"All Government staff on GL. 12 and below are to continue to stay at home until 11th June, 2021."

Billionaire blogger, Linda Ikeji has opened up on the fact that she doesn’t spank her son, Jayce, yet he’s growing up to be a kind boy.

The mother of one took to her Instagram page to reveal that she doesn’t believe in spanking as a form of correction for a child, hence, she uses other tactics, such as correcting her child firmly and with love.

Here’s what she wrote;

“As today is Mother’s Day in some parts of the world, I’d like to talk about raising our kids.

I think I’m a great mum… I really don’t need anybody to tell me that. Not just with Jayce, I’m fiercely protective and crazy in love with my nephews and nieces. And I love children in general.

With Jayce, I show him a lot of love and kindness and let him have his way most of the time. I’ve heard someone say be careful not to spoil him especially when he does something that they think deserves a spanking and I refuse to spank him.

I don’t believe in spanking children over every mistake they make in the bid to correct them. The occasional spanking, every once in a long while, is okay…(I’ve definitely done that with Jayce) but I believe when they make a mistake or misbehave, correcting them firmly but kindly and with love is better than hitting them, yelling at them, shaking them or giving them some kind of physical punishment. Especially when they are under 5.

For instance, with Jayce, I’ve had family and close friends tell me he is a kind and loving boy but they are family and friends so you just feel they are being nice…but less than two weeks of starting school, his teacher described him as a kind boy in his daily report book. That made my whole week. It tells me the love and kindness I show him every day is shaping him and he’s passing it forward.”
The controversial Blogger added, “I believe that listening to our children when they have something to say, acknowledging their feelings, recognising their positive behaviour and maybe even rewarding that behaviour will help to shape them into great individuals”.

Responding to this, Mercy Aigbe, in a post shared on her Instagram page, said that although it can be overwhelming sometimes, a lot of hard work and God’s grace have helped her balance his life.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has appointed a speech-impaired young man, Peter Aliyu, as his Special Assistant on Sanitation.
Peter Aliyu is a former cleaner under the Geemoney Cleaning Scheme in Government House in Lokoja who had continued his cleaning work without pay even when the company was said to have laid off all its staff.
Recall that Yahaya Bello had recently given special considerations to people with disabilities by engaging them actively in his government and signed bills that would enhance their welfare in the state. Peter Aliyu’s appointment was confirmed and announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Folashade Ayoade, amongst 46 other new appointees of the Government.

According to the government, Aliyu’s appointment was borne out of the governor’s observation of his consistency, diligence, and dedication to work on daily basis at the Government House in the state capital.
Meanwhile, Governor Bello, on the other hand, was said to have considered the appointee’s impairment to serve in his government as a means to enlist him and prove that there was ability in disability.
