Nigerian singer, Stanley Omah Didia popularly known as Omah Lay has finally taken delivery of the Headies’“Next Rated” award and car gift on the 9th of April, 2021.
Omah Lay won the “Next Rated” category ahead of Tems, Oxlade, and Bella Shmurda at the 14th Headies’ award show on the 21st of February, 2021.
The car gift was presented to the singer by the organizers of the award show and GAC motors at HipTv, Ikeja.
“Next rated was a big plus for me. Shout out to The headies. My
Growth so far has been something that I’m grateful for. I can’t explain
it honestly, I can’t explain it. But still, I am grateful. I feel
blessed, that’s basically everything I can say. And my people, my fans,

Acting IGP Appoints Inuwa As Force Secretary, Retains Mba, Owohunwa As PRO, PSO

Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has appointed AIG Hafiz Inuwa, as the Force Secretary and a member of the Force Management Team.
He also reappointed a Commissioner of Police (CP), Frank Mba, and Acting CP Idowu Owohunwa as Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) and Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the IGP respectively.
Mba, who served as spokesman for the police twice
before his latest reappointment, disclosed the developments in a
statement on Friday.
The new force secretary takes over from AIG Mustapha Dandaura who has been redeployed to Zone-7 Police Headquarters in Abuja.
Prior to his new appointment, Inuwa was the AIG in charge of Zone-13 Ukpo -Dunukofia in Awka, Anambra State – covering Anambra and Enugu State Police Commands.
He also previously served as
the Commissioner of Police in charge of Delta and Cross River States,
among other strategic positions he held.
AIG Hafiz Inuwa holds a Masters degree in Public Policy and Administration (MPPA).
Similarly, Baba ordered the posting of some personal aides, including a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Idris Abubakar, as the PSO II to the IGP.

Falana and Falana Chambers, has written a letter to social commentator,
Japheth Omojuwa, demanding a public explanation and apology from him for
enlisting her as one of the directors of his company, Alpha Reach,
without her consent and approval.
According to the letter shared copies of on her Twitter
handle, Ezekwesili said on March 31, 2021, she was contacted by a person
inquiring from her if she knew about her position as a director in the
aforementioned company. The letter from her lawyers stated that
Ezekwesili said no as she had never heard of the company before.
According to the letter, the person who initially contacted her later
forwarded a document from the Corporate Affairs Commission CAC showing
her name listed as one of the directors of the company which later
turned out to be owned by Omojuwa.
Nigerian Correctional Service releases names of Inmates who escaped from Imo Prison

Nigerian Correctional Service has released the names and faces of 36 of
the over 1,800 inmates that escaped from the Correctional Centre in
Owerri on Monday during an attack by suspected members of the proscribed
Indigenious Peoples of Biafra(IPOB).
It said: “Faces of persons who escaped from Owerri Custodial Centre, Imo State.
Please note that more photographs of the Escapees on the way and efforts are on to get clear pictures for the black spaces.”
It said efforts were on to release more names and faces of the fleeing inmates for the public to assist in their re-arrest.

man identified, Okonkwo Chimezie Henry been arrested by National Drug
Law Enforcement Agency, at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport,
Lagos while trying to catch a flight to Madrid, Spain on Sunday, April
4, 2021.
The suspect was arrested while trying to transport 1.750 kilogrammes of cocaine out of Nigeria.
NDLEA
said in a statement on Friday, April 9 that Henry was about to board
the night flight when he was taken into custody and placed under
observation.
During his time under watch, the suspect allegedly
excreted 113 wraps of cocaine estimated to have a street value of N423
million.

orders aimed at curbing gun violence, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee
signed a bill allowing most residents over 21 in the state to carry a
gun without a permit or a background check.
"I signed constitutional carry today because it shouldn’t be hard for
law-abiding Tennesseans to exercise their (Second Amendment) rights,"
Lee a Republican approaching his reelection campaign for 2022, wrote in a
tweet.
The governor then thanked the National Rifle Association for their help with the bill.
Lee first proposed the National Rifle
Association-backed legislation last year before the COVID-19 pandemic
caused lawmakers to focus on more important issues. He renewed that
effort when lawmakers returned for this year’s legislative session.
The bill applies to handguns that are concealed and ones that are openly carried, but it does not apply to long guns.

UN Warns Tanzania Not To Reject People Fleeing Violence In Mozambique

United Nations have received
“worrying” reports that Tanzania has rejected over 1,000 people seeking
refuge from an attack on a town in northern Mozambique by
ISIL-affiliated fighters, the United Nations High Commissioner for
Refugees (UNHCR) has said.
The March 24 attack on the town of Palma,
adjacent to gas developments worth $60bn, sent the town’s residents
scattering in all directions, with some fleeing into dense forest while
others escaped by boat.
The authorities say dozens have been killed, while thousands have fled the town of some 75,000 people.

The filthy actions are the latest in a string of alarming online
abuse within the football world, and it comes after English football
bodies demanded action from Facebook and Twitter.

MDB earlier reported that the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was hospitalized at White Plains Hospital last Friday after suffering a drug overdose that triggered a heart attack and is “facing serious health issues”.
He was said to be without oxygen for about 30 minutes while
unconscious when police arrived on the scene on April 2 and transported
him to the Hospital.

The
bureau of world football governing body, the Federation of
International Football Associations (FIFA) has suspended Chad and
Pakistan from international football over government and third-party
interference respectively.
FIFA disclosed its decision to ban
the Chadian Football Association and the Pakistan Football Associations
in a release on Wednesday.
FIFA on its decision to suspend Chad
said that: “The suspension was prompted by the recent decision of
Chadian government authorities to permanently withdraw the powers
delegated to the FTFA, establish a national committee for the temporary
management of football and seizure of the FIFA’s premises.”
“The
FTFA’s suspension will be lifted once the relevant government decisions
have been repealed and the FTFA and its management, led by president
Moctar Mahamoud Hamid, have confirmed to FIFA that its premises are
under its control,” FIFA added.
Hollywood actor, Zach Avery, arrested for Ponzi scheme

actor Zach Avery was arrested by FBI agents in Los Angeles on Tuesday
for allegedly masterminding a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors of
hundreds of millions of dollars, US authorities said.
Avery,
whose real name is Zachary Horwitz, told investors his company 1inMM
Capital would buy film distribution rights and license them to Netflix
and HBO but in fact had “no business relationship with either company”,
according to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Instead, the
34-year-old operated the company as a Ponzi scheme, using money from new
investors to pay older ones, the US Attorney’s Office for the Central
District of California said in a statement.
The SEC said his
scheme had raised more than $690 million. The Department of Justice said
it began in 2015 and that $227 million put in by victims was yet to be
repaid.

albeit controversial statement during an interview on Arise TV saying,
“It is foolishness to keep having faith that God will protect you from
an infection he has made provision for vaccines that can provide a high
percentage of protection.
I have taken the jab. I prayed about it,

Netflix acquires Cameroon’s 1st Oscar submission ‘The Fisherman’s Diary’
The Fisherman’s Diary‘ follows the story of Ekah, a 12-year-old who defies her community’s age-old view of female education after stumbling on the story of the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai.
It stars Kang Quintus who doubles as producer, Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah, Daphne Njie, Faith Fidel, Ndamo Damarise, Cosson Chinepoh, Onyama Laura, Neba Godwill, Prince Sube and Mayorchu.
The trailblazing movie made history as it was selected to represent Cameroon in the Best International Feature category at the 2021 Academy Awards. The film was the first to represent Cameroon at the Oscars since 1980, and the second overall.
The film premiered at the 2020 I Will Tell International Film Festival. It was selected as the Cameroonian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The film was nominated for Best Feature Film at the 2020 Paris Art and Movie Awards.

The forthcoming film follows the story of a writer with an obsessive attraction, which explores the mental health and the power of youthful dreams.

The talent manager and mother of one said the management of the singer are handling the situation, and it does not go unnoticed.
An upcoming artiste named Wisekid reportedly made N30 million monthly since October 2020 by copying Wizkid’s album on Apple Music and Amazon.
The musician released an album and named it Lasgidi Made, but
uploaded Wizkid’s Made In Lagos album with rearranged tracklist and
another title to deceive streaming platforms’ algorithms.
He cloned and uploaded Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album on shazam and tidal.
Multichoice Talent Factory graduates class of 2020

Some of the graduating class of 2020 from MultiChoice talent factory
MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) West Africa Academy graduated 20
students after 18 months of intense training in film and television
production.
The students’ academic course which was extended from 12 months to 18
months due to the pandemic gave them the opportunity of acquiring the
MTF Academy qualification as well as an equally illustrious
qualification from the prestigious New York Film Academy of Visual and
Performing Arts (NYFA), making them more sought-after as they re-enter
their respective local film and TV sectors as highly qualified industry
professionals.
The students completed an intensive 3-week online NYFA course on the
production of micro-documentaries, Public Service Announcements (PSAs),
music videos and also worked with the United Nations on the global
#PledgeToPause campaign. These exposed the young creatives to global
networks, making them a part of the MTF alumni network, while also
connecting them with industry professionals from across the continent
through the MTF Portal.
Speaking at the virtual event held yesterday, CEO, MultiChoice
Nigeria, John Ugbe, stated that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the
students were able to quickly adapt to the transition from physical to
virtual learning which is a testament to the world-class nature of the
academy’s course.
“The MultiChoice Talent Factory is very close to my heart. It speaks
to who we are as Nigerians, natural-born storytellers. Today we are here
to celebrate the second cohort who were dealt a heavy blow by the
COVID-19 pandemic but the challenge seems to have brought on even
greater opportunities,” Ugbe adds.
The continued success of the MTF initiative since its start in 2018
is also rooted in its illustrious partnership with Pan-Atlantic
University (PAU) as well as with internationally acclaimed organisations
Dolby, Jasco Broadcast Solutions and Nihilent.
Awards, as well as scholarships, were given to students who excelled
during the programme. Abisola Aboaba emerged as the top-performing
graduate and won the NYFA 8-week scholarship in the United States of
America.
Julie Ako won an 8-week scriptwriting internship on an animation
series from Nihilent Technologies, Gbenga Gomes won the Jasco Broadcast
Solutions AVID media composer licence for the most-promising film video
editor while Igho Arusi Avuirovarie emerged as the most promising sound
engineer. In addition to these, the 4-week MNet internship in South
Africa goes to Joshua Tsotso.
Eric Kafui Okyerefo, Chioma Paul-Dike and Avuiroevarie Igho Arusi won
the CEO Award for Innovation for building Ekho media, a streaming
platform for short films and content creators. The Award is a $1000 cash
prize for each of them and a structured 1-year mentoring session with
the CEO.
“This is a proud moment for everyone involved in ensuring that the
students became graduates. It’s also been fulfilling to see just how
in-tune this next generation of African storytellers are with the
importance of being multi-skilled and intuitive creatives, “All these
would not have been possible without the collaboration and commitment of
our fantastic partners.” Ugbe concluded.
Toke Makinwa has aired her view about marriage and what one
needs to succeed in it.Toke Makinwa married Maje Ayida in 2014, but the marriage was
short-lived as it crashed a few years after, following reports of
infidelity.
The media personality said there’s more to marriage
than reading books and using all sexual styles in the world just to
please one’s partner.

Rita Dominic’s movie “La Femme Anjola” removed from FilmHouse cinemas except

Film House has removed ‘La Femme Anjola’, a
Nollywood movie produced by Rita Dominic from its cinemas for the
holiday weekend.
Mildred Okwo, the director of the movie also confirmed the development on social media.
He tweeted, “Film House has removed us from all cinemas except these
ones. I guess it is to make way for their new film. it is their cinema
and they will do with what they please…”

Reacting to the news on social media, fans of the movie accused the
top exhibition and distribution company of playing double standard in
favour of the newly released Niyi Akinmoyan directed ‘Prophetess’ which
it co-produced and distributed.
Okwo revealed that Film House had prematurely taken her 2015 movie ‘Surulere’ off its cinemas in its second week.
According to CEAN’s report, ‘La Femme Anjola’ currently tops the box
office in second place grossing N8,102,100 in its first week from
screening in 49 locations.
Film House is yet to publicly clarify the reports. However, its
Communications Analyst, Jude Martins replied Okwo albeit unofficially.
In his deleted tweets, Martins trolled Okwo and accused her of trying to score cheap publicity.
La Femme Anjola is a crime thriller directed by Mildred Okwo, a young
male stockbroker’s life, depicted by Nonso Bassey, goes off the rails
when he meets the beautiful wife of a wealthy gangster, played by Rita
Dominic.
The Neo-noir flick is written by Tunde Babalola and features an array
of Nollywood stars: Blossom Chukwujekwu, Joke Silva, Ken Erics, Femi
Jacobs, Uzo Osimkpa, Aderounmu Adejumoke, and former Big Brother Naija
housemate Bassey Ekpeyong.
