Dencia clashes with DJ Switch on Twitter

Dencia has tackled DJ Switch over her recent tweet, where she gingered people to come out and protest against reopening of Lekki tollgate.

DJ Switch, popular for her role during the EndSARS protest tweeted in solidarity with the protesters;

“I am so angry at all I see, I want us all… Where ever we are, to speak up! In whatever way you can!!! Will update you all on what is happening on the 17th if all goes well. Like I said… I have chosen to fight, what do you want to do? #EndSARS #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria,” Switch wrote.

Her tweet didn’t actually go down well with Dencia, Cameroonian-born singer, who tackled her immediately for instigating people to fight for same course that made her flee the country.

Dencia wrote,

“People are looking for leaders all over the world, especially black folks ESPECIALLY AFRICANS but the leaders ain’t leading y’all to freedom, they are leading y’all to ur graves. Stop being a sheep follower. My heart hurts watching people die for nothing.”

“Y’all need to stop playing with people’s lives, u guys manipulate people knowing they’re not bright enough to know better. Their blood is on y’all’s hand + the government. If u tweeted & asked folks to go anywhere, u killed them too. Now argue with ur ancestors”

Kylie Jenner Does Dad Caitlyn Jenner's Makeup for the First Time 'Highlight of My Life'

Caitlyn Jenner got an opportunity to sit in daughter Kylie Jenner’s makeup chair.

On Saturday, the former Olympian, 71, featured Kylie, 23, on her YouTube channel doing her makeup for the very first time.  “This is the highlight of my life,” Kylie said, to which Caitlyn responded, “It’s the highlight of mine!”  

“We’ve been talking about this for forever,” the Kylie Cosmetics mogul said as she prepared for the makeup session. “We saved this special moment for you guys because this is going to be the first time that I ever do my dad’s makeup.”

“Did you ever think that this day would come?” she asked Caitlyn. 

“No, did you ever think?” the star replied. “I mean, I was 65 years old before I finally came through this. It’s like I had to raise everybody else and I had such a life and finally, it was my time to be me and live my life.” 

“I didn’t think I could do it,” she continued, referencing when she came out as transgender in 2015. “And then I did it and you guys have been my best friend. My kids have been absolutely wonderful in all of this.” 

The pair also discussed why Kylie and her older sister Kendall, 25, still call Caitlyn “dad” after she came out. 

“Sometimes people get really confused when Kendall and I still call you dad,” Kylie said. “I know we had a talk a few years ago, and you were okay with us still calling you dad. How do you feel about that now?”

“It was one of the best decisions I made,” Caitlyn said. “And sometimes this community can be pretty tough, especially when it comes to pronouns and everybody’s got an opinion, and on and on and on. But I really felt from the beginning that I got to do it my way that works for me, and everybody out there has to do it their way, which works for them.” 

“Some people say ‘Oh, you’re the mother.’ No I’m not — I’m the dad, and I’ve been the dad the whole way. I will be their father until the day they die, or I die,” she continued. 

Earlier in the clip, Caitlyn compared her early love of sports to Kylie’s passion for makeup.  

“Get everything you can get out of every day — wake up in the morning excited about the day,” Caitlyn advised her youngest daughter. “You can find that one thing in life that you’re so passionate about.”

“I found it very young, fifth grade, in sports, and that changed my life, changed me as a person,” she added. “And you, at a very young age, you found it in makeup. I mean you just loved it, I always remember you obsessed over makeup.”

Kylie, however, joked that Caitlyn wasn’t always so supportive of her interest in makeup.

“I remember you used to yell at me for watching all these YouTube videos!” she said.

Jessica Biel Reacts to Justin Timberlake's Apology to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson

Jessica Biel is sticking by her husband, Justin Timberlake, as he’s apologized to both Britney Spears and Janet Jackson.

The “Man of the Woods” artist took to Instagram Friday in response to backlash received following the airing of New York Times doc, “Framing Britney Spears,” apologizing to both women for his role in disrupting their careers and contributing to the public shaming of the “Glory” singer.

“I love you. [heart emoji],” Biel commented on his post, in which Timberlake stated, “I am deeply sorry for the time in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.

“I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually,” he went on, “because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed. I also feel compelled to respond, in part, because everyone involved deserves better and most importantly, because this is a larger conversation that I wholeheartedly want to be part of and grow from.”

“Framing Britney Spears” briefly touches on Spears’ youthful romance with the NSYNC star in the early 00’s — and the aftermath, which included allegations that Spears cheated on Timberlake.

Timberlake fueled the narrative with the video for his 2002 song “Cry Me A River,” which featured a blond actress, who resembles Spears, sneaking around behind his back.

Biel and Timberlake married in 2012 and share sons Silas, 5, and Phineas, 1.

Yemi Alade, in a post made on Twitter, advised her fans on things to consider before buying a valentine’s gift.

She tweeted: Before you buy Valentine gift ,be sure the person you are dating is DATING YOU OOO.

A fan who seemed displeased with the post slammed the singer for such an insensitive post when other celebrities are lending their voice against the reopening of lekki tollgate and youths are arrested.

Responding to the tweet, Yemi Alade blast the fan, urging him to visit a psychiatrist.

Kevin Hart's Personal Shopper Accused of Stealing Over $1 Million From Him

Kevin Hart was reportedly the victim of a million-dollar scam carried out by one of his employees.

According to TMZ, the comedian’s personal shopper, Dylan Syer, is accused of defrauding Hart of $1.2 million between October 2017 and February 2019. New York prosecutors say Syer began working for Hart in 2015 and began building the actor’s trust through authorized purchases; however, as the years went by, Syer allegedly began using Hart’s credit card to pour money into his own account.

Queens County D.A. Melinda Katz says the personal shopper used the stolen funds to buy extravagant items, including everything from a Sam Friedman painting and multiple Louis Vuitton bags to 16 Bearbrick collectible pieces and five Patek Philippe watches valued at more than $400,000. The DA is now looking to seize Syer’s assets up to the amount he allegedly stole.

“No one is immune to being targeted by fraudsters …” Katz said in a press release. “The defendant thought he was beyond reach and was living out his uber-rich lifestyle fantasies. But my team uncovered the bogus purchases – from the credit card charges being processed by the bank, down to tracking FedEx packages delivered to Syer’s home and business. This should serve as a cautionary tale for everyone. Regardless of whether you are a celebrity or not, anyone can fall victim to this kind of fraud. It is paramount to keep track of your expenses, check your credit reports and diligently keep your financial information to yourself.”

Syer has been charged with grand larceny in the first and second degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the first and second degree, identity theft in the first degree, and scheme to defraud in the first degree. He faces up 25 years in prison if convicted. Syer is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 17.

China bans BBC World News from broadcasting

China has banned BBC World News from broadcasting in the country, its television and radio regulator announced on Thursday.

China has criticised the BBC for its reporting on coronavirus and the persecution of ethnic minority Uighurs.

The BBC said it was "disappointed" by the decision.

It follows British media regulator Ofcom revoking state broadcaster China Global Television Network's (CGTN) licence to broadcast in the UK.

Ofcom's decision earlier this month came after it found that CGTN's licence was wrongfully held by Star China Media Ltd.

Michael B. Jordan Is Working on a Roc Nation-Produced Muhammad Ali Series With Amazon

  Michael B. Jordan and his Outlier Society label is expanding his existing deal with the tech giant. The first project to be announced with this new deal is a limited series about the life of famed boxing champ Muhammad Ali. Ali’s estate and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation company are involved in the series.

Following the arrival of his new Alexa Super Bowl commercial, Michael B. Jordan has announed his production company has signed a new deal with Amazon Studios. Deadline reports that Jordan’s Outlier Society TV has expanded its relationship with Amazon and has added a first-look film deal. In addition to that, it’s also been announced that Outlier will work on a new Muhammad Ali limited series executive produced by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.

The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Lagos has called on the state government to urgently intervene in the fracas between it and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

Some members of NURTW and RTEAN had on Thursday morning at Obalende Motor Park on Lagos Island, engaged in a free-for-all over control of the garage.

The police later restored normalcy.

The state NURTW Chairman, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (aka MC Oluomo), claimed that the fight occurred because members of RTEAN attacked NURTW members in a bid to take over the motor park.

But the Publicity Secretary of RTEAN, Alhaji Abdulrahman Amusan, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos claimed that the fight occurred because members of NURTW attempted to dislodge members of his union from their area of operations at Obalende.

“We want the Lagos State Government to, as a matter of urgency, intervene in the matter. We are for peace, we have been working in Obalende for many years without any problem.

Police arrest 6, summon transport union leaders over Obalende unrest

The Lagos State Police Command, on Thursday, said it arrested 6 suspected hoodlums responsible for the unrest in the Obalende area of the state.

It was earlier reported that gunshots were heard this morning when 2 trival transport unions –National Union of Road Transport Workers and the Road Transport Employers’ Association Of Nigeria –clashed in Obalende.

The development caused chaos in the ever-busy area as motorists and commuters scampered to safety.

However, police spokesperson in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement hours after the incident, said normalcy has been restored to the area.

He also said the leaders of the warring unions have been invited for interrogation.

Court orders CBN to unfreeze EndSARS ‘promoters’ accounts

A Federal High Court in Abuja has set aside the order it made on November 4, 2020 freezing accounts linked with some promoters of the #EndSARS protest that took place across the country last year.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in a ruling on Wednesday, also ordered all affected banks to “immediately defreeze the affected accounts.’

Justice Mohammed proceeded to strike out the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1384/2020 filed by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and in respect of which the ex-parte order freezing the accounts for 180 days was made on November 4, 2020.

The court’s decision was informed by the withdrawal of all processes filed in relation to the suit by lawyers to all parties.

The Federal Government has issued a strong warning on Thursday that it will not allow a reenactment of the #EndSARS protest as some Nigerian youths are planning to do at the Lekki tollgate on 13 February in Lagos.

Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, announced opposition to the fresh round of  protests as some #EndSars proponents firm up plans to return to Lagos – Lekki Toll Gate on Saturday in protest against recent decision of Lagos State Judicial Panel to allow the reopening of Lekki Toll Gate.

The Minister told journalists in Anuja that the planned protest was a plot to destablise the country by some Nigerian activists in and outside the country.

“Let me be clear: While peaceful protests are the constitutional rights of Nigerians, violent protests are not. At this time, the chances that any peaceful protest will be hijacked are very high.

“Based on the intelligence at the disposal of the Federal Government, some Nigerian activists have linked up with others outside Nigeria, including subversive elements, with a view to destabilizing the country. We cannot and must not allow this to happen.

“Never again will the Federal Government allow the kind of violence that was perpetrated across the country under the guise of the EndSars last October. Never again will anyone or group be allowed to destroy cities or to kill and maim innocent citizens, including security agents, under any guise,” the Minister vowed.

Good morning gentlemen and thank you for honouring our invitation once again.

As you may be aware, some EndSars proponents have given notice of their plan to return to Lagos – Lekki Toll Gate to be specific – on Saturday, February 13th 2021. The ”Occupy Lekki Toll Gate” flyers have been circulating online, with the proponents threatening that ”Lagos will burn” again.

Let me be clear: While peaceful protests are the constitutional rights of Nigerians, violent protests are not. At this time, the chances that any peaceful protest will be hijacked are very high. Based on the intelligence at the disposal of the Federal Government, some Nigerian activists have linked up with others outside Nigeria, including subversive elements, with a view to destabilizing the country. We cannot and must not allow this to happen.

Never again will the Federal Government allow the kind of violence that was perpetrated across the country under the guise of the EndSars last October. Never again will anyone or group be allowed to destroy cities or to kill and maim innocent citizens, including security agents, under any guise.

 The EndSars campaign last October started as a peaceful protest against police brutality. As a government that believes in the constitutionally-guaranteed right of citizens to engage in peaceful protests, the Federal Government did nothing to hinder the protests for as long as they remained peaceful. Not only that, the Federal Government moved swiftly to accede to the five-point demands by the EndSars campaigners which are:

 

i) Immediate release of all arrested protesters.

ii) Justice for all deceased victims of police brutality and appropriate compensation for their families.

iii)    Setting up an independent body to oversee the investigation and prosecution of all reports of police misconduct within 10 days.

Blessing Okagbare, Nigerian sprinter, is the athlete with the most Diamond League appearances and she has received a Guinness World Record certificate to this effect.

Back in 2015, she broke Usain Bolt's record.

The Guinness World Record certificate indicates that Blessing has the most appearances in Diamond League meetings, having participated at 67 Diamond League events between July 3, 2010, and August 31, 2018.

Lagos state govt demolish some properties in Banana Island for flouting building laws

The Lagos State Enforcement Team has demolished some structures in Banana Island in Lagos state over the non-compliance to the state building laws and regulations.

 

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, who supervised the demolition, said the enforcement became necessary because the State Government felt there was a need to do something to halt the growing illegality. Salako said the State Government has noticed that many residents are building without due recourse to state agencies for approval.
