Leo Da’Silva noted that an ex-girlfriend stabbed him with a knife while another drugged him and held him hostage, resulting in fear for women. He added that he dealt with this by giving himself a break from relationships for a while. He is however in a better space as his new relationship is going on two years now. #jaiyeorie Dr. Ian Smith seemingly dragged Tamron Hall for the shady practices of her talk show. According to Dr. Ian, Tamron’s hit talk show isn’t interested in having Black experts who could bring value to our community as guests…unless they have some type of scandal or messy mess going on. There are a lot of people who look like me, who are equally educated, equally articulate, who are not getting a platform on major shows. And, you know, they won’t bring on African-American or Latinx people as experts to talk about things like education or sociology or medicine or law. They will only bring us on when we’re an entertainer or an athlete or we do something salacious. There is a talk show with an African-American host and an African-American executive producer that has said to publicists do not pitch us your Black clients we are not a Black show, pitch us your white clients, we don’t want to be looked at as a Black show. They will bring on Black experts when they do something salacious or they’re in the headlines for doing something bad. Then they’ll bring Black people on to talk about that. Dr. Ian went on to explain why he was calling out the show. I’m putting this show on blast because when white shows and hosts don’t let us on we criticize them, but the same criticism has to be held when a show is helmed and hosted by Black people that keep us off the airwaves and it’s just not right. For the record, Dr. Ian Smith never called Tamron Hall out by name, but you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know who he was talking about.  Kidd Wes has filed a lawsuit against Danny Glover aka Childish Gambino over his hit song, ‘This is America.’

TMZ reports that Emelike Nwosuocha aka Kids Wes is accusing the actor and rapper of allegedly stealing his 2018 GRAMMY award-winning record from him.

Kidd Wes filed a lawsuit against Childish Gambino, claiming he ripped off his song, ‘Made in America.’

Kidd revealed he dropped his song on SoundCloud in September 2016 and a few months later uploaded the song on YouTube. He then took the necessary steps to register the song with the U.S Copyright Office the following year in May 2017, as he prepared for it to be the lead single on his upcoming album.

Lagos State Government Sets Aside N1 Billion for Entertainment and Tourism, Appoints RMD, Others as Trustees

In a bid to jumpstart the entertainment and tourism sectors in Lagos, the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has established a board of trustees presided over by veteran actor, RMD.

Kunle Afolayan who is a member of the 9-member-board alongside Mo Abudu, Tunde Kelani, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe and four government officials, took to Instagram to share this.

Afolayan disclosed that the government set aside N1 billion naira to cater to supporting creative ideas  for movie and entertainment producers especially those in need of funding for their projects.

Lyfe Jennings will share his story this Sunday (May 9) on an upcoming episode of TV One’s “Unsung.”

In an exclusive clip, the R&B singer sets the record straight on his 2008 arrest that sent him back to prison.

According to the streets of the internet, Lyfe had a dispute with his then-girlfriend, Joy Bounds, over their children.

Things escalated to the point of the singer kicking in the door of a home and shooting a gun into the house.

He then sent police on a high-speed chase. As you can see from the photo below, the singer was in bad shape by the time he was taken into custody.

Ultimately, Lyfe was sentenced to three years in prison.

Prof. Felicia Adebola Adedoyin, the author of Nigeria’s national pledge, passed away on Saturday after a brief illness.

The late Adedoyin who was born on the 6th of November 1938 is the second of six children and a Princess from the Iji Ruling House of Saki, Saki West Local Government, Oke Ogun area of Oyo State.

An educationist, Adedoyin received her PhD in 1981 from the University of Lagos.

Jagaban is one of the nicknames of a prominent politician and former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu.

The traditional title was conferred on the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader by the Emir of Borgu in Niger State, Haliru Dantoro Kitoro.

Buhari removes Hadiza Usman as Nigeria Ports MD

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly removed Hadiza Usman as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Buhari has also instructed Mohammed Bello-Koko, the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, to assume the position.

Bello-Koko was born on March 25, 1969 and is a native of Koko-Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The development has been linked to the alleged face-off between Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, and Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The two stalwarts of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are at loggerheads over the 2023 presidency.

A source close to the government said he was not surprised that the Usman’s removal was linked to the Amaechi – El-Rufai feud.

 

Usman was one of the co-conveners of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG), the campaign launched after hundreds of schoolgirls were kidnapped in Chibok in Borno State.

El-Rufai appointed the embattled NPA boss in 2015 as his Chief of Staff. In July 2016, Buhari appointed her as NPA MD, after her nomination by the governor.

NDLEA arrests 80-year old grandma, granddaughter with 192kg cocaine, Heroin

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an 80-year-old woman, Mrs Mary Adebayo, alongside her 19-year-old grand daughter, Funmilola Adebayo, with 192 kg of assorted drugs in Akure, Ondo state. 

NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, in Abuja.

Babafemi said that two other ladies were also arrested along side the duo for selling assorted illicit drugs that included cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol, swinol and skuchies. 

He said that the arrest came after intelligence-based raids and follow up operations on their locations on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

Candace has always had a soft spot in my heart and she was the baby to me. All I remember seeing is us running down court and Candace, when I looked over, she was in a tussle with one of the Detroit players and she was on the bottom. That’s what I saw. That’s my teammate and I was on my way to get whomever off her to get her off the floor. Somehow in the moment of like, running one way and then in the direction and me turning around, I never saw the coach, Rick Mahorn, who is what, 6’6″, 6’7”? He pushed me, literally pushed me so hard that I was off both my feet and I landed somewhere back from where I was starting from the run. Why would this man put his hands on me? I will never understand that day. Why I didn’t have a lawsuit against the WNBA and him personally? I have no idea why I listened to other people. Because it was just simply wrong. El-Rufai claims Ex-President Jonathan tried to jail him, ignored their friendship

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said former President Goodluck Jonathan almost put him in prison because he thought he was a threat to his second term ambition.

El-Rufai, in an interview published in The Point, said although Jonathan was his very close friend from when he was the deputy governor of Bayelsa State, he persecuted him because he believed those who told him that he was a threat.

The governor said his persecution started in 2006 when he was in charge at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Bill and Melinda Gates have had a decades-long agreement that the Microsoft boss could vacation for a long weekend at the beach every year with his venture capitalist ex-girlfriend. 

The odd arrangement raises eyebrows now that one of the richest couples in the world are going their separate ways after 27 years together and building a $130billion fortune.   

Bill, 65, and venture capitalist Ann Winblad, 70, dated in the 80s but broke up in 1987, the same year he met future wife Melinda. Ann was reportedly more ready for marriage than Bill as he worked day and night to build his billion-dollar Microsoft empire.

However, the pair maintained a friendship and in a 1997 piece in TIME Magazine, Bill said, 'When I was off on my own thinking about marrying Melinda, I called Ann and asked for her approval.'

She approved and the former lovers - with Melinda's blessing - kept their yearly vacation alive, with Bill spending a long weekend with Ann at her beach house on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. 

The pair spend their getaway every spring riding dune buggies, hang-gliding and taking walks on the beach.

Senate gives Customs ultimatum to return seized rice in Ibadan market

The Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges has ordered the Nigeria Customs Service to return bags of rice seized from shops in the Oja Oba Market in Ibadan, within 15 days.

The Senate gave the ultimatum after Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Kola Balogun petitioned the upper chamber on behalf of traders whose shops were raided.

Recall that officers of the NCS on Saturday invaded Oja Oba market and carted away eight truckloads of rice and money found in the shops of the affected traders.

This is barely one month after they raided the Bodija International Market forcing Senator Kola Balogun to petition the upper chamber.

Meghan Markle to publish children's book - ''The Bench''

The Duchess of Sussex, is adding "author" to her post-royal résumé!

Meghan is releasing her debut children's book, titled The Bench, on June 8. The story focuses on the special bond between a father and son, viewed through a mother's eyes. It was inspired by Meghan's own family experience with her husband, Prince Harry, and son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

According to an official press release, the book "captures the evolving and expanding relationship between fathers and sons" as well as "reminds us of the many ways that love can take shape and be expressed in a modern family." 

The Bench, published by Random House Children's Books, is illustrated by award-winning artist Christian Robinson. Meghan will also narrate the audiobook edition.

Women and girls between the ages of 15-49 experience different forms of s3xual abuse - Minister of Women Affairs

The Minister of Women Affairs, Sen. Pauline Tallen, has said 30 per cent of women and girls between the ages of 15-49 experience different forms of s3xual abuse.

Tallen said this today in Abuja, at a panel discussion to commemorate the International Day of the Midwife 2021, and the Orange World Campaign Flag-off.

The theme of the event was, “Access to Services For GBV Survivors in Nigeria: A Call to Action.”

Tallen attributed the rising number of s3xual abuse, especially in the North East, to prevailing factors like child marriage and terrorism.

The minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Anthonia Ekpa, said Nigeria experienced different forms of sexual abuse, and that the patriarchal nature of the society, NAN reports.

“The situation has further worsened as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been described as a shadow pandemic.

Marriage certificates in England and Wales to include mothers’ names for first time

Marriage certificates in England and Wales will now include the names of both parents of each half of the couple, instead of only their fathers, after legal changes to the process came into force.

The change is part of the introduction from Tuesday of a new digital system to modernise, simplify and speed up the process by which marriages are registered, helping to tackle a backlog.

The Home Office said the reforms were “the biggest changes to the marriage registration system since 1837” and would “correct a historic anomaly” by allowing for the mothers’ details to appear on the marriage entry for the first time.

Marriages are currently registered by the couple signing a register book, which is held at each register office, in churches and chapels, and at registered religious premises.

The Home Office said the creation of a single electronic marriage register would save time and money and be more secure, as the new system eliminates the need for data to be extracted from hard copies.

Sade Okoya, the wife of Billionaire Rasaq Okoya, has cried out to God to spare her 81 year old husband’s life to see their children get married and also their grand children.

Sade Okoya who recently turned 44 revealed this desire in a chat with City People.

Appreciating God and her husband for grooming her into who she is today, the mother of four said “Everything that I am and will be, is my husband and God. I appreciate everything and I don’t take things for granted. I don’t have much that I would take for granted.

I just pray God blesses my business and may God grant my husband long life to be able to do the wedding for our children and he will also see their grandchildren too. I’m not asking for too much. I content with what I have. This is my brainchild of a few months ago and lots have been done to active it. Glory be to God and my hubby.”

‘God has rejected Buhari like Saul’ – Panam Percy Paul

Famous gospel singer, Panam Percy Paul, has compared President Muhammadu Buhari to the first Israel King, Saul, who was later rejected by God and replaced with the younger David.

During a prophetic ministration, the Jos-born singer said God told him that Buhari was imposed on him by the church in Nigeria in 2015, just the way the Israelite of old imposed Saul on him as their king.

The video of the prophecy was shared on Twitter by Reno Omokri, a former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

In the video, Panam Percy Paul revealed that he got the prophecy beginning from 2015 when Buhari became President, up till 2020.

He said in the video: “God asked me to bring you this word of comfort. It is a word of prophecy that this King Saul was not his choice. That king Saul was imposed upon him. He was not his choice. And it was the church that imposed King Saul on God. And so, the Lord God warned that this is what this king is going to do. He will take your daughters and make them into his confectionaries.
