Mystery audio message from plane that crashed 'killing all 38 on board'

An audio message reportedly sent by a crew member of a disappeared plane is at the centre of an investigation into its whereabouts.

On Monday a Hercules C-130 took off from Chabunco in the south of Chile and flew towards the Antarctic Chilean base Presidente Eduardo Frei Montalva.

Just over halfway into the 745mile trip the plane lost contact with operators.

Now Chilean authorities are investigating an audio message sent by one of the crew members who said the aircraft was suffering "an electrical failure" and that the "itinerary should be followed until landing in the white continent".

According to reports from Vanguard,  the suspect Olamide Goke and his accomplice, Adeyinka Akanbi, masterminded the brutal attack, initially with the intention to rob Gildas Tohouo and his wife Bernadette but after meeting with some resistance from the wife, they decided to kill her.


Narrating how the brutal attack happened, Adegoke said:

We didn’t intend to kill her. I just wanted us to collect some foreign currency from her because she just returned from oversee four days back. When we got inside, I asked her to give us money but she said she had no money with her. Immediately she recognised me, my partner said it would be dangerous for us to leave her alive.

Oshiomhole says he is ‘he-goat’ of Edo politics

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has debunked reports that he was placed under house arrest and also described himself as the ‘he-goat’ of Edo politics.

Oshiomhole spoke Friday afternoon, while addressing journalists at his Benin GRA residence, where Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a new APC convert from the PDP, was presented to him by Hillard Etta, the national vice chairman (south-south) of the party.

A rally to receive Iyamu into the APC fold had held earlier, in a venue different from the one police disapproved.

A Russian court jailed a Jehovah’s Witness adherent for 6 years on Friday after finding him guilty of extremist activity, part of a crackdown on the group that human rights activists say violates religious freedom.

A court in Penza, around 350 miles (563 km) southeast of Moscow, said in a statement it had jailed Vladimir Alushkin, 55, after an investigation had shown he was continuing to run a local branch of the U.S.-headquartered Christian denomination despite the group being outlawed as extremist in Russia.

Court sentences pastors to prison over fraud

A magistrate court in Enugu has convicted and sentenced  the General Overseer of Christian Charismatic Movement, Enugu, Sabinus Onuigbo, to seven years imprisonment for forgery.

Magistrate J.O Umuzulike read the judgment on Thursday following the prosecution of Onuigbo alongside three other pastors, Tony Chukwu, Chukwuma Orji Victor and Nick Nwoye.

The three others were sentenced to three years with an option of N20,000 fine.

The judge said the evidence before the court showed that the prosecution proved the allegation of forgery beyond reasonable doubts.

In the video posted on Facebook by the Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES), the black mynah bird was dangling on a string from the laundry pole stand outside the apartment.

The woman was questioned that she had committed an act of cruelty and was advised on other ways to deter birds drawn to exposed food in the kitchen.

Mrs. Bella Disu, has been awarded the French national honour of “Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres” (Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters).

Bella Disu has been rewarded for her role in the advancement of Arts in Nigeria. Especially for her role in the construction of the Mike Adenuga Centre

She got the award on Friday for her support for arts and culture. She was responsible for the coordination of the construction of the impressive Alliance Francaise Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos, which has since been opened to the public.
Conferring the honour on Mrs. Disu at a colourful ceremony held at the Centre, the French State Secretary for Education and Youth Ministry, Minister Gabriel Attal, described Mrs Disu as one of the youngest recipients of the French national honour.
The Minister said the national honour is reserved for icons who have supported the sustenance and growth of French culture.
