Hate Speech Bill: Aliyu Abdullahi Says He Has Been Receiving Threats

Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, the lawmaker representing Niger North Senatorial District and the Deputy Chief Whip stated that he’s been receiving threatening messages since the hate speech bill he sponsored passed its first reading.
Senator Abdullahi proposed a National Commission for the Prohibition of Hate Speech Bill and death by hanging as punishment for hate speeches.

…Busola fined N1m for wasting Court's Time

The rape case filed by Busola Dakolo against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) has been thrown out by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Court 12, sitting at Bwari, Abuja.


According to reports from Punch, The judge, Justice Oathman A. Musa, in giving the judgment, held that the matter amounts to injustice and an abuse of judicial process, and added that the case is empty and purely sentimental.


Dakolo filed the suit against Fatoyinbo after alleging that he raped her in 2002 and caused her emotional distress. Fatoyinbo’s team of lawyers, led by Alex Izinyon (SAN), had however argued that the suit was frivolous and an abuse of court process.



Justice Musa, in giving the judgment, held that the matter amounts to injustice and an abuse of judicial process adding that the case is empty and purely sentimental. Justice Musa said that the case was aimed more at cruelty than obtaining justice.

LAUTECH Lecturers Embark On Indefinite Lecture Boycott Over Unpaid Salaries

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) branch, has suspended all academic activities pending the payment of their unpaid arrears.
Lectures for the new academic session were billed to start on Monday.
The lecturers’ union had earlier issued a 10-day ultimatum to the university to pay their August, September and October salaries or face industrial crisis.
This paper gathered that the academics are being owed cumulative 11 months’ salary arrears by the Oyo and Osun governments.
In reaction to the ultimatum, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Michael Ologunde, was said to have attributed non-payment of the salaries to non-release of subvention to it by the two co-owners, Osun and Oyo.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, said he has created 157,000 jobs in the last 3 years.
The jobs, according to him, were created through job tracking for organizations, job matching and placement, skill acquisition and entrepreneurship and Edo Innovates programme.


Governor Obaseki stated this at the Alaghodaro 2019 Youth Summit as part of activities to mark his 3 years in office.

THR is reporting that the creators of the famous series Friends are in talks to reunite on HBO Max.
Per the outlet:

Talks are currently underway for an unscripted reunion special that would feature Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, as well as series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman. Sources caution that a deal is far from done and agreements with cast and creatives still need to be hammered out. When and if deals are completed, the challenge then becomes sorting out everyone’s schedules. Of course, the talks could fizzle and the whole concept could fall apart.
