Speaking with Cam Newton on his BET series Sip ‘N Smoke, Taylor explained what led to her decision to retire. “At the end of the day, I’m a mom first,” she explained. “A mom, a wife, a woman. And I think for me, I put in a lot of work. I work very, very hard. So, if you feel unheard and unseen—like how I said earlier with my husband. He sees me, he hears me. I take that shit serious. Everything that I do. So if you’re my husband, or I’m signed, everybody that I’m aligned with should see me. They should hear me. They should feel me. If you don’t see me, hear me, or feel me, it’s a dub for you.” Taylor explained that most of her frustration came from the label side, saying that she felt unappreciated. “And I felt like the label wasn’t really hearing me and seeing me,” she continued. “I felt underappreciated. So, for my mental health, my mental well-being, for my kids, let me just put this on ice for a little [bit]. It’s not that I retired permanently. Gunmen abduct AAU Professor Odia, demand N18m ransom

A former Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Prof. Osadolor Odia, has been reportedly abducted by gunmen.

Odia was said to be on his way to his farm at Egoro, Ekpoma, Thursday morning, when he was kidnapped by the gunmen.

A source in the institution who crave anonymity, confirmed the abduction of the University Don.

He added that the suspected kidnappers have already made contact with the family of the victim and demanded for N18 million ransom.

#jaiyeorie  The Central Bank of Nigeria has issued a security advisory entailing guidelines on how to protect themselves and their families following a letter to the staff by the Security Services Department.

The letter with the subject ‘Security Advisory’ written for the CBN staff, dated April 28, 2021 was from the Director of Security Services Department with reference number SSD/BSO/INT/UCD/01/072.

The internal memo was for all staff members of the bank.

The letter read,

“We write to inform all staff to take note of the elevated security alert condition around the country and of the need to take special care in their day-to-day activities. Security intelligence reports have informed of plan by undesirable elements to infiltrate various parts of the country particularly state capitals and FCT with the intention to perpetrate crimes of abduction and kidnapping for ransom or as recruited for terrorism. 

“It is strongly suspected that these activities are likely to be carried out in the evenings and at night. It is in the light of the foregoing that all staff are advised to take note as follows: Exhibit extra caution while at home, en route work or other locations being more observant of activities suggestive of abnormal happenings as to avoid falling victim.

“Limit all social engagements to those that are absolutely necessary.

“Retire home immediately after office hours and taking special care to ensure that homes are sufficiently secured by way of reinforced doors ad locks.

“Avoid public drinking places and restaurants after hours.

“Maintain very low profile and remain as inconspicuous as possible.

“Branches to close on official schedule times to enable staff leave for their homes.

“Avoid travels (air or road) except absolutely necessary and contact heads of security at the location of travel for additional advisory

“Keep contact numbers or relevant security agencies within reach for you and other family members.”

Lagos state denies seizing amputee Mary Daniel's N25m

The Lagos State Government has rubbished claims that it seized N25 million donated to amputee sachet water hawker, Mary Daniel.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso said reports on social media that government seized the money donated to her were untrue.

German former professional footballer Christoph Metzelder went on trial today accused of sharing child p3rnography with women online in a case that stunned the sport.

The former Germany and Real Madrid defender, 40, is in the dock at a district court in the western city of Duesseldorf accused of possessing and distributing illicit images of minors.

Prosecutors say the 2002 World Cup finalist passed on 29 p3rnographic files to three women via WhatsApp.

According to the case against him, 297 files with s3xual content featuring children or teens were found on Metzelder’s mobile phone.

The Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday, wielded its big stick on one of Nigeria’s oldest banks, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, and sacked all the board members of the bank including its Chairman, Board of Directors, Ibukun Awosika.

Awosika was appointed First Bank Chairman in September 2015, making her one of the first women to hold the esteemed position.

However, the apex bank on Thursday, announced the immediate appointment of Tunde Hassan-Odukale as Chairman of First Bank. Before his appointment, Hassan-Odukale was the Managing Director of Leadway Assurance Company.

The re-organisation of First Bank by the regulator was not unconnected to the removal of Adesola Adeduntan as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the bank and the appointment of Gbenga Shobo as MD/CEO designate without regulatory approval. CBN had earlier queried the Board of the bank over the development.

At a briefing in Abuja on Thursday, CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, dissolved the board of the bank and announced the appointments of new leaders, with immediate effect.

The World Bank has denied making any such statement - NBS counters Ngige's claim of World Bank disputing its method of gathering data for employment statistics

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has countered Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige's claim of the World Bank disputing its method of gathering data for employment statistics. 

Ngige who made the claim while receiving leadership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management(CIPM), had also said there would be a virtual meeting between the Federal Government and the World Bank to discuss modalities used by the National Bureau of Statistics(NBS) in gathering data for employment statistics.

He said; 

 “There has been a little confusion there as to the accuracy of data generated by the NBS. So, we want to align everything tomorrow (Thursday).

“The World Bank says the NBS methodology doesn’t conform to the global standard, especially the ILO format of arriving at such Employment Index.”

 

However reacting to this via its official Twitter handle, the NBS said the World Bank denied making such claim. The Bureau said the World Bank and the economic advisory committee instead, affirmed its confidence, commendation, support and close working relationship with the agency. 

 

The tweet read; 

 

“The World Bank has denied making any such statement and rather together with the economic advisory committee affirmed its confidence, commendation, support and close working relationship with @nigerianstat. The World Bank can be contacted if in doubt.”

 

 

The latest data published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on its website revealed that unemployment rate as of the end of 2020 rose to 33.3% from 27.1% recorded as of Q2 2020, indicating that about 23,187,389 (23.2 million) Nigerians remain unemployed.

Nigeria will overcome insecurity, Obasanjo strongly believes

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its insecurity challenges.

The former president said there would be light at the end of the tunnel.

Samsung heirs to pay $10.8 billion in inheritance taxes

The heirs of Lee Kun Hee, the chairman of the telecommunications giant Samsung who died in October, will pay more than $10.8 billion in inheritance taxes.

The Lee family disclosed this on Wednesday in a statement released via Samsung Electronics that the inheritance taxes would amount to more than half the value of the late chairman’s total estate.

According to them, the inheritance taxes are one of the largest ever in Korea and globally, equivalent to three to four times the Korean government’s total estate tax revenue in 2020.

News agency Yonhap reported that the tax would be the largest-ever in South Korea’s history.

Simon Dorante-Day was adopted into a family who had ties to the Queen and lived in Portsmouth, England, when he was a kid.

Dr.Dre ordered to pay $500,000 to estranged wife Nicole Young's divorce lawyers

 Dr. Dre has been ordered to pay half a million dollars to his estranged wife Nicole Young's divorce lawyers. 

Nicole Young, 51, had asked Los Angeles Judge Michael Powell to force her wealthy, soon-to-be-ex husband to pay her $2 million per month in spousal support, plus $5 million for her attorney fees.

During a hearing on Tuesday, April 27, the Superior Court Judge ordered Dre to pay her lawyers $500,000 within 10 days, while a decision on the spousal support issue has been delayed until another hearing on July 8.

In a written ruling, the judge said: "Pending the next hearing dates on this matter, the Court grants only $500,000 in attorney's fees to petitioner's (Nicole's) counsel ... Fees are to be paid to petitioner's counsel, no later than May 7."

 

 

The 56-year-old star, who was recently declared legally single agreed to continue paying for Nicole's monthly expenses and will also continue to pay the mortgage on the Malibu home the 51-year-old lives in.

CBN sacks First Bank directors

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Thursday fired the entire members and board of directors in First Bank of Nigeria.

The CBN disclosed that, in its capacity as the apex regulator, the need to wield the big stick against commercial banks becomes necessary in the face of irregularity in the banking sector.

The apex bank had earlier queried the Board of the First Bank for removing Adesola Adeduntan as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, without regulatory approval.

It also faulted the appointment of Abdullahi Ibrahim as deputy managing director, as well as the appointment of Ini Ebong, Segun Alebiosu, Seyi Oyefeso and Bashirat Odunewu, as executive directors.

Trump’s Lawyer, Rudy Giuliani’s Apartment Raided by FBI

The New York Upper East Side apartment of Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, was raided by the FBI on Wednesday morning, April 28, in connection with the bureau’s ongoing investigation into his dealings in Ukraine.

Guiliani has been under investigation for more than two years in connection with the criminal case against Lev Parnas and three other associates.

Parnas and another Giuliani associate, Igor Fruman, were accused of a straw donor scheme.

Apart from the donor scheme, they also met with Giuliani and introduced him to Ukrainian officials, around the same time with Trump’s first impeachment where he was accused of pressuring Ukranaian president Zelensky to carry out investigations against then-Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in 2019.

Giuliani, while acting as Trump’s attorney, is accused of orchestrating a pressure campaign on Ukrainian officials to dig up dirt on Joe Biden in 2019.

Trump’s effort to dig up dirt on Biiden sparked the impeachment inquiry.

The Puerto Rican princess had been invited on the Wendy Show and didn’t hesitate to gather the host for all she could in the space of a little over 2 minutes.

Joseline Hernandez dug into Wendy Williams, telling her that as an older woman, she’s expected to be rooting for the younger generation of women who are working really hard especially in pop culture.

She berated Williams, citing that the latter is no longer in an abusive relationship with her ex and hence, has no excuse to come off as she does.

Hernandez continued that Wendy who made her TV career via gossip, could do a lot better especially as she treats women of other races better than black women.

Wendy Williams was however not feeling the ambush on her show and told Hernandez that she’s only doing her job and wasn’t going to apologise for anything.

The interview finally went on after the dragging session.

In a cute video he put up on Instagram, Ndidi who noted that Iheanacho’s walking style has changed, beseeched him yet again to ‘cut soap’ for him to which the latter replied that he had quit using bathing soap and has resorted to shower gel. The Nollywood actor had shown solidarity for his colleague, Baba Ijesha, accused of defiling a minor.

Fabiyi’s stance had been that of a rape apologist, demanding for video evidence of Baba Ijesha’s alleged crimes and that folks hear the accused’s side of the story before casting aspersions.

Makinwa could not hide her disgust for the stance and had no qualms calling out Tomi Fabiyi.

The media girl and budding business mogul called Fabiyi a disgrace, a complete fool and one of the reasons why the fight against sexual violence gets harder.

She asked why he would want to watch a video of a child being sexually assaulted and poi Ted out that the perpetrator already confessed to the crime as confirmed by the police in their statement.

‘We don’t have a government at the Federal level’- Governor Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has condemned the killing of seven IDPs in the state.

According to him, the killings were carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen. He opined that the incessant killings of Nigerians in many parts of the country point to the fact that there is no government at the Federal level in Nigeria.

Addressing newsmen when he visited the IDP camp today April 27, Ortom said

”It is an unfortunate development that what is happening, if the Federal government had taken proactive steps, today we would not be where we are.

In the last two weeks, we have buried over 70 persons in this local government alone.

This is an unfortunate development and this is not acceptable.  The Federal government has refused to take proactive steps to arrest this ugly situation that we are witnessing.

You will recall that I alerted the entire nation when Fulanis met in Yola and declared that except we repeal the prohibition of the Open grazing law, Benue will not know peace. I was targeted for assassination. That was done on me. It is only God that saved me.

I did say they were going after my people and that the Federal government should arrest the leadership of Miyetti Allah that hosted that meeting. Up till today, nothing has been done. This is really unfortunate. It means we don’t have a government in place at the Federal level. We don’t have a government because if proactive steps were taken by arresting the Miyetti Allah leadership, this will not happen.

For several years we have been calling on the Federal government to take proactive steps to address this matter, they have refused to.”

LAUTECH launches investigation into the death of final year student who fell into soakaway

The Management of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Tuesday”April 27, said it is committed to a full investigation into the death of a final year student of the institution, Asefon Nifemi Bernard.

It was gathered that the graduating student of the Department of Animal Nutrition and Biotechnology, died after falling into a soakaway in his hostel on Thursday April 22, while attempting to switch on electricity.

Acting Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH, Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu, gave this assurance while ddressing the leadership of the South West Zone of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by the Deputy Coordinator, South West, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman.,

Speaking, Liasu observed that the death was unfortunate and a rude shock, noting that management members were pained at the occurrence and have therefore committed to getting to the root of the matter to guide against future occurrence.

Liasu called on the students’ leaders to educate their members on responsible unionism and discourage the destruction of public property at the slightest opportunity.

Kunle, who was the winner of the seventh reality show edition of Gulder Ultimate Search (2010), penned an appreciation note to his parents via his verified Instagram page, revealing that his parents are the ‘Best he could ever have prayed for’

“Happy wedding Anniversary to my parents. Thank you for being an example. Thank you for Being the best parents I could ever have prayed for. ❤” he gushed.

 Kunle said, “In Nigeria, there are a few people I look forward to working with. I have, at different times, worked with some of the people I dreamt of working with.

Remi also stated that contrary to what some people think, being an actor does not make life easy for anyone. He told Sunday Scoop, “Being an actor does not make life easy. I actually work very hard, almost round the clock. However, there are a few perks that come with being a public figure.”

The actor also noted that he started making Tiktok videos because he wanted to keep himself busy. He said, “I started doing TikTok videos because the world was at a standstill and I did not want to be idle. So far so good, being a ‘tiktoker’ has been an amazing experience.”

Commenting on the quality of Nollywood movies at the moment, Remi said, “The quality of Nollywood movies has generally become better. It is not where it used to be years ago. There is obvious growth and development all round.”
