NAFDAC Fines Guinness N1 Billion
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has given Guinness a fine of N1 billion
Vanguard reports.
A source from the Enforcement Department of the agency, who pleaded anonymity, is said to have told the publication that the agency conducted a routine check on the company’s factory in Ikeja, Lagos on November 5, 2015, and “shocking” revelations were made.
The NAFDAC team came reportedly had unsatisfactory appraisals about how some of the materials used in the production processes were being handled. Also, team that visited Guinness was worried about the manner in which the raw materials used in the factory were stored.
“The unhygienic storage condition of the raw materials was a major source of worry for the agency,” the source said.
“Our team visited Guinness and the reported findings were true. The agency is, however, going to make a public statement to this effect at the appropriate time, as the management is still studying the reports submitted by the team,” the source noted.
Reacting to the reports, Peter Ndegwa, Managing Director of Guinness said the said raw materials store is not a production facility and that “we are engaging National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, for clarifications and resolution of the issues.”

On awards: My real fans know I am not really about that kind of thing. That was not the reason why I fell in love with music.
On ‘Ojuelegba’: I knew it was a good song but I didn’t expect it to blow up the way that it did. My parents still live there. We have a house there.
On house music: I like the way house music is produced. In Africa, house music artists are the ones most likely to cross over internationally. There are very few African artists who can do that
On his upcoming EP ‘Sounds from the Other Side’: I’m a perfectionist. I can listen to the music now and tomorrow I’ll be like, ‘Yo, I feel we need to change this’, and then we have to go back to the drawing board.

The Innovator honor recognizes an artists whose masterful body of work has consistently broken new ground in pop music.
Read excerpts from her interview below.
On making a comeback: I have to be very careful. It’s different now. People are quick to be like, ‘You’re irrelevant, you’re a flop, you’re washed up.’
On her break from music: If I wanted to do The Missing Files of Missy Elliott, I have probably six albums just sitting there. But it was much needed. People hadn’t realized that I haven’t just been an artist, I’ve been a writer and a producer for other artists. When you’re writing that much, your brain is like a computer. You have refresh it.
On having Graves’ Disease: It causes hair loss, your eyes bulge,. My blood pressure was always up from just overworking. It started to change [my] way of life. There were physical changes, extreme headaches, extreme weight loss. What that does to a person, being a public figure and knowing people are looking, judging? That’s a tough thing.
