Kanye West Sparks A Global Outrage After He Said Black People Chose To Be Slaves

 Kanye West, has dropped another controversial statement about the racial divide in America, and this time, he claimed that the black Americans – who were forced into labour for over 400 years in America – chose to be slaves.
Speaking in an interview to promote his upcoming albums, Kanye affiliated slavery to Black people, in the same way Jews can be affiliated to the Holocaust. He said: “You hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years? That sounds like a choice.”

I Have No Beef With Toyin Abraham – Eniola Badmus

Eniola Badmus, in a recent Instagram post she made about her on-coming movie, said that some persons are using the title of her movie to promote theirs.
This made most fans to have the believe she was referring to Toyin Abraham, because she was promoting her own movie too at the same time.
It seems the movies produced by the two actresses have the same theme and thrust. Abraham’s movie is titled, The Ghost and the Tout and she has been promoting it for months now. Meanwhile, Badmus’ movie is titled, Ghetto Bred, and she only started promoting it sometime after Aimakhu had been doing hers.
In the course of her (Toyin) promoting her movie, she made use of the term Ghetto Bred. Many felt that Badmus wasn’t pleased that Abraham was portraying herself as a ‘ghetto bred,’ hence her social media updates.
She had written on Instagram:
“There is no point sugar coating or stealing title…ema lo wa o (don’t come).” Shortly before that, she had written, “There can only be one ghetto bred produced by Eniola Badmus.”
However, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Badmus denied that there was any rift between her and Abraham. She said:
“There is zero beef between me and Toyin. We are very good friends. People always read different meanings to things but it’s not always as it seems. All I am doing right now is to promote my movie and I have gotten a lot of love from colleagues.”
Explaining the concept behind the movie, Eniola said:
“I play the role of a dramatic taxi driver with the soul of a tomboy who lives in a ghetto with her educated elder brother. My character is an energetic and aggressive lady that never thought of having a boyfriend but later fell in love. The movie, which cost millions of naira, features top comedians and Nollywood actors.”

Kesha opened up to the women’s magazine about her rise to fame, body issues and music career, said she’s “taking control” of her life following her long legal battle with former producer, Dr. Luke. Cosmopolitan‘s upcoming June 2018 issue hits newsstands on May 8.

On her initial rise to fame in 2009: “I thought I had to be very tough and really strong and portray that I didn’t give a f**k, and that just was not the case. I was pretending like everything was great all the time.”

On overcoming body issues and an eating disorder: “The final straw was when I was with my mom at a family dinner party and I was so anxious. Singer Seyi Shay “Happy” About Hosting Headies 2018

Seyi Shay and Bovi were announced as the hosts for Headies 2018 last month.

The  BIA singer is happy about hosting the most decorated Nigerian music awards ceremony which will hold on May 5 at Eko Hotel & Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.

“I’m happy about it. It is going to be fun,” Seyi told KokoLife. She adds that her co-host, comedian Bovi is a “cool friend,” and they know each other.

I Will Restructure Nigeria Within 6 Months If Elected – Atiku Abubakar

Atiku Abubakar, has said he would restructure Nigeria in six months if elected president in the 2019 elections.

Mr Abubakar stated this during a question and answer session at the Chatham House in UK after delivering a lecture titled: “The Importance of Strengthening State Economic Management Systems”.
He also said he would offer a matching grant of $250 million each to the 36 states of the federation to challenge them to enhance their Internally Generated Revenue.
He said he was not surprised by President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement that Nigerian youth were lazy because he (Buhari) had never managed a business.
“It is doable. In fact, what I’ve told many Nigerians at home is that if you give me six months, I know I will be able to achieve a fast level of restructuring, otherwise the concurrent list issue.
“It’s very easy to deal with it because there is no state that you will call and say ‘I want to give you this responsibility together with the resources’, and will say ‘no’.”
He said he wants people of every state to be able to hold their leaders accountable because of how the Federal Government “is being accused of everything, even when it’s not in its area of responsibility.”
“I want to be able to resolve that so that citizens can hold their local leaders responsible for lapses and maladministration.”
Asked if he would consider running as an independent candidate should he fail to secure the ticket of Peoples Democratic Party, which he recently defected back to, he said, “We’ll wait until that time”.
He added that he would make Nigeria attractive for those living in diaspora to return.
On President Muhammadu Buhari’s description of some Nigerian youth as lazy bunch, Mr Abubakar said the president would not describe Nigerian youth as lazy if he (Buhari) was an employer of labour.
“On the issue of youth, I am an employer of labour and most of that labour is youth-dominated and I make a lot of profits from my businesses.
“I don’t agree with the assumption that the youths are lazy or they are indolent. Certainly, I don’t. But I’m not surprised with the fellow (Buhari) who made that remark because he’s not an employer of labour, he has no business, he has no educational institution so he doesn’t relate with youth in schools so I don’t blame him.”
He criticised the multiple exchange rate in the country, saying it does not encourage foreign investors to put their money in Nigeria.
He said “his federal government” will continue to offer support, despite the $250 million grant for states that rank below the average development index, until such a time as they are able to become self-sufficient and sustaining.
“Beyond institutional and administrative reforms to improve operational efficiency of the revenue agencies, the federating units will be challenged to double their efforts in rebuilding the fiscal-social contract, by enhancing service delivery in key areas such as health, education, water supply and infrastructural development.
“Only this would change the predominant perception that government revenues are diverted to the private bank accounts of politicians and their cronies.”
Mr Abubakar who defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the opposition PDP, on whose platform he served as vice president, is seeking the party’s nomination to serve as its presidential flag bearer in upcoming 2019 presidential election.
He criticised senators of his former party, APC, of betrayal following the “shocking and saddening” decision of the Senate not to grant devolution of power to the states during the constitutional amendment last year.
He said the decision by the APC-controlled Senate was “a lost opportunity to honour one of the party’s election promises to bring about change by shifting power closer to the people in the remotest regions of our country”.

Ramsey Nouah is back with a new movie, and this time he teamed up with filmmaker, Moses Inwang.

The new project titled “Crazy People” featured popular Nigerian entertainers including Ireti Doyle, Desmond Elliot, Sola Sobowale, Chigul, Funny Bone, Bryan Okwara, and Kunle Afolayan. Others include Kelechi Amadi Obi, Monalisa Chinda, and Mr. Patrick.

K1 De Ultimate “embraced” Olamide despite his negligence to request approval to use “Anifowose” in 2013.

The Fuji icon revealed that rapper Olamide did not seek for his permission before releasing “Anifowose,” which featured on the rapper’s 2013 album “Baddest Guy Ever Liveth.” The song originally written by K1 was first released over 25years ago, off his “Orin Abode Mecca Medley” music project in honour and reverence for his father.

”We want to see the younger ones taking over from us and doing very well, even though he didn’t directly come to me before he did that song, but I’m happy, I’m happy and I exempt him of any punishment or lashing because he did it nicely,” K1 The Ultimate told Pulse in an interview.

K1 further revealed that a lot of his songs have been done in the past and the artistes never came to him to ask to get approval to use the materials.
”If I had rebuked him (Olamide), If I had taken it personal, If I had said because he didn’t come to me to seek for direct approval for the redoing of that number, Omo Anifowose is me, Anifowose is my father’s name,” the “Talazo” singer adds. K1 De Ultimate has concluded work on his “Fuji: The Sound” EP produced by Mystro. The studio work was earlier announced to drop in 2017, but the release date was later moved to 2018.

The last scientific advisor to grace the White House, John Holdren, served President Obama for eight years. The science advisor vacancy is surely better filled by a practicing scientist. “Why Nigerian Youths Must Participate In 2019 Elections” – Ramsey Nouah

#MuteRKelly Ava DuVernay, other Black women call for R. Kelly to be dropped from his recording contract after multiple women accuse him of sexual assault

Director/film maker, Ava DuVernay has joined forces with women of colour to declare support for #MuteRKelly, an online call to action demanding that Live Nation and Sony Music drop grammy award singer R. Kelly from his recording contract and cancel his tour dates.

  Lena Waithe and Shonda Rimes are also joining the cause, according to a statement released on April 30.

For decades, multiple women have accused the popular singer of aggravated assault, statutory rape, and harassment. However, the behaviour of the R&B singer has been largely ignored.

In 2000, R. Kelly was accused of statutory rape and numerous. The accusations continued in the years after. Most recently, reports surfaced of Kelly running a "sex cult", with young girls, some of them underage, held against their will, brainwashed and controlled by the singer.

Most of R. Kelly's victims are blackwomen and they never got justice till date. But DuVernay and other women of color are now saying #TimesUp for R. Kelly.

Finally, calls to investigate Kelly and bring him to justice for his sexual misconduct appear to be sticking. The singer was recently dropped by his publicist, lawyer, and assistant. Slowly people are distancing themselves, and DuVernay and other women of color are pushing that further.

The CEO/co-founder of WhatsApp, Jan Koum is leaving the company over disagreements about privacy and encryption.

WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum quits over privacy disagreements with Facebook

Jan Koum steps down from Facebook’s board of directors, a role he negotiated when WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook for $19bn in 2014, according to the Washington Post.

Koum and his co-founder Brian Acton developed WhatsApp with a focus on user privacy and a disdain for advertising. When it was bought by Facebook, he promised users that these values wouldn’t be compromised.

"You can still count on absolutely no ads interrupting your communication. There would have been no partnership between our two companies if we had to compromise on the core principles that will always define our company, our vision and our product,” he said at the time.

However, Facebook has been under pressure to make money out of WhatsApp, which now has 1.5 billion monthly users. Facebook has been taking steps that have chipped away at some of WhatsApp’s values. And Koum has a problem with this.

Koum announced his departure from the company via his Facebook account, writing: “It’s been almost a decade since Brian [Acton] and I started WhatsApp, and it’s been an amazing journey with some of the best people. But it is time for me to move on.

“I’m taking some time off to do things I enjoy outside of technology, such as collecting rare air-cooled Porsches, working on my cars and playing ultimate frisbee. And I’ll still be cheering WhatsApp on – just from the outside.”

In 2016, After Facebook acquired the messaging app, WhatsApp announced it would start sharing some user data, including phone numbers, with Facebook – a move that goes against WhatsApp's values and was deeply unpopular among European regulators, who ordered Facebook to stop collecting data from WhatsApp users and fined the company.

Since then WhatsApp has started building and testing free tools to help businesses use WhatsApp to reach their customers, with the view to later start charging businesses - another move that goes against WhatsApp's disdain for advertising.

According to the Washington Post, which spoke to “people familiar with internal discussions” over Koum’s departure, there were tensions with Facebook over WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption, which ensures that messages can’t be intercepted and read by anyone outside of the conversation, including by WhatsApp or Facebook. WhatsApp executives believed that Facebook’s desire to make it easier for businesses to use its tools would require weakening some of the encryption.

After Koum announced his resignation, the first comment was from Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

It reads: “I’m grateful for everything you’ve done to help connect the world, and for everything you’ve taught me, including about encryption and its ability to take power from centralised systems and put it back in people’s hands. Those values will always be at the heart of WhatsApp.”

A spokeswoman for WhatsApp declined to comment but pointed to Koum and Zuckerberg’s posts on Facebook.

FIFA announces plan to pay an advance fee of $2m to each of the 5 African teams that qualified for the World Cup in Russia

FIFA will advance $2 million in prize money to each of the 5 African teams that have qualified for the World Cup to help them prepare for the tournament, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said.

 Nigeria, Senegal,Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia have qualified for the tournament in Russia, and CAF president Ahmad Ahmad said in a statement that the money would be used “to settle beforehand the question of bonuses due the players.” 

Disputes over past tournaments "have led to situations that have little impact on the football image in Africa, which has a major impact on team performances," he added.

Last year, Nigeria's football federation (NFF) has signed an agreement with the players who pledged to avoid bonuses and pay the rollovers of World Cup campaigns. The Super Eagles are involved in a long-term dispute ahead of the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil and a bonus row also disrupted their World Cup campaign in 2014. Similar problems affected by other African teams.
The 32 teams participating in the June-July tournament receive $ 1.5 million each from FIFA in the form of a paid prepaid and are guaranteed a minimum of $ 8 million more than the cash prize after the tournament ends.

Kanye West has joined the Kardashians in getting cosmetic surgery done because he didn't want to be ridiculed.

The "Golddigger" rapper stopped by TMZ TV and shared information about what led to his hospitalization back in November 2016. He revealed that he got liposuction and was addicted to opioids after getting the procedure.

He said: "Two days before I was in the hospital, I was on opioids. I was addicted to opioids.”

Giving his reason for getting liposuction, Kanye said he just didn’t want anyone calling him fat like they did with his brother-in-law Rob Kardashian.

“I had plastic surgery because I was trying to look good for y’all,” he said. “I got liposuction because I didn’t want y’all to call me fat like y’all called Rob at the wedding and made him fly home before me and Kim got married. I didn’t want y’all to call me fat so I got liposuction.”

He said they gave him opoids following the surgery and he got so addicted to it that at a point he was taking up to seven pills a day.

“They gave me opioids, right? And I started taking two of them and then driving to work on the opioids,” he said.

He added that it was caused by “fear, stress, being controlled and manipulation.”

He then adds that he’s now in a better place.

“I think I’m in a stronger place than I ever was after the breakdown, or I like to say the breakthrough,” he said.

He adds: "I’m happy it happened. I’m happy to have gone to the other side and back."

Adichie while hosting the PEN World Voices Festival lecture at the Cooper Union in Manhattan on Sunday, April 22, 2018, asked the 2016 US presidential candidate why her Twitter bio describes her first as a Wife, mother, a grandmother, before other things followed .

"You are mentally retarded" Nigerian man calls out women who listen to advice of Beyonce,Rapper Cardi B and Chimamanda Adichie

A Nigerian man has criticized women who heed the advice of successful women like Beyonce, Cardi B, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

He said those women come out to advise other women on how to run their relationships and marriages, but they do not live by their own advice, instead, they go home and "swallow all sorts of crap from their spouses" to keep their relationships, whereas the women who take their advice end up with broken relationships.
