How INEC Can Tackle ‘PVC Buying’ In General Elections — Saraki

Saraki has recommended steps to take in addressing the issue of politicians allegedly plotting to buy Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) in the general elections.He advised the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, to immediately convene a stakeholder meeting in the upcoming polls. Senator Saraki gave advice on Thursday in a statement by his Special Adviser to Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu. The meeting, he noted, should be convened for the sole purpose of formulating plans and ideas on how to make the intention of the alleged politicians to use for the purpose of purchasing PVC unprofitable.

Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC National Publicity Secretary, who disclosed this in a statement, said he had directed for the site to be taken down.

Keji Ayanda wins the Jack Petchey’s “Speak Out” Challenge!

               

                          

Keji, a student at the Faculty of Arts and Media Islington in the United Kingdom, won the challenge with his "My accent" speech. We can all resonate with Keji's speech because it is about how people judge others for something as fugitive as their physical appearance (in this case, the accent) and not their potential.The Jack Petchey Foundation recognizes the positive contributions young people make to society and to support them in achieving their potential.
“When people first see me, they see this beautiful, this gorgeous, stunning chocolate goddess, but when they here me, they suddenly have this look of confusion or suddenly have something offensive to say”, she said.
Being an immigrant in the United Kingdom, Keji's speech reveals his experiences and the wrong ideas he has over her because he is African. She recalls a meeting with a student who told her that she did not know she could speak English, Keji said that the words of this student remained with her.




“Do you think because I have an accent, I live in a hut? Do you think, cause I have an accent, I sleep next to a lions and I have to fight them to survive? Does your accent makes you sound smarter or employable?” Keji confidently asks, as she notes that her accent promotes diversity.
