He was shot dead on Saturday night by gunmen in Oluyole area of Ibadan.

Badejo, who worked with Space FM and later Naija FM in Ibadan, died a week after he celebrated his 40th birthday.

Sports ministry appoints Mikel youth ambassador

Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has named former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi as the country’s youth ambassador to help promote sports in the country.

The appointment marks Mikel’s return to national duty since his retirement from the national team after the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in 2019 where he led the team to a third-place finish.

Dare, while addressing journalists at the National Stadium, Lagos on Friday said the appointment of the former Chelsea midfielder would benefit the country’s youths.

Lala Anthony has filed for divorce from her basketball player husband, Carmelo Anthony.

The CHI actress and mother of one filed documents to end her 11-year marriage to the NBA star following three years of separation.

TMZ reports that Lala filed for the papers on Thursday in New York, citing irreconcilable differences.

According to inside sources, the split is amicable and the parents to 14-year-old Kiyan are trying to make the transition as smooth as possible for their teenage son.

The actor, 34, paid tribute to the late Glee star in an interview with Glamour published Wednesday, calling Rivera his “first celebrity crush.”

Mowry – who co-starred with Rivera in the sitcom Smart Guy and dated her between 2000 to 2004 – said the news of her death last year “was really, really rough.”

“I have so much respect for her family,” he said. “I still am in communication with them, so I just want to make sure I’m respectful of that and what her family is going through. She was definitely my first everything. I think subconsciously it’s why I never really date like that because no one really ever… I know someday someone might, but it’s hard to measure up to the type of girl and woman she was.”

In her 2016 memoir, Sorry Not Sorry, Rivera revealed Mowry was her first boyfriend.

Mowry told Glamour he still has a hard time talking about Rivera and trying to encompass all that she meant to the people who loved her.

“It’s a hard thing to talk about, because to think about her mother and her ex-husband, her child and her sister and her brother…the height of what they went through is times a thousand,” he said. “I almost feel like I can’t even talk about my feelings because they don’t even measure up to the pain that they went through and are still going through. Kidnapped Nigerian football coach freed

The Head Coach of Rivers United Football Club, Stanley Eguma, has been released by his abductors.

This was confirmed by Okey Kpalukwu, the general manager of the club, on Friday.

Mr Eguma was allegedly kidnapped along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway at about 4.00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, while returning from Gombe to Port Harcourt, after a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game.

Mr Kpalukwu confirmed the release of Mr Eguma in a post on the club’s WhatsApp platform.

“We are grateful to God for His mercy. Our Technical Manager, Stanley Eguma, has been released by his abductors. Our God is gracious,” he posted.

Details of Mr Eguma’s release from his abductors were not disclosed in the post.

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, Mohammed Aliyu, had earlier said that the police would ensure Mr Eguma is freed by his abductors.

Kidnapping for ransom is commonplace in many states in Nigeria.

Melaye blows hot after being exposed for owing car dealers

Senator Dino is making a threat to sue an automobile sales company that called him out over balance payment for a car he flaunted on social media.

Melaye, who represented the Kogi West district in the 8th National Assembly, stated this after the automobile company, identified as Unique Motors, begged him to offset his debt on the Rolls Royce Cullinan he flaunted.

The maverick politician had taken to the media sharing platform to show off his new car with the caption: “As usual, talk your rubbish while I cruise The RR.”

But Unique Motors followed with a demand of the balance payment for the car right on his thread.

“Sir, you still have outstanding balance to pay unique motors. All efforts to reach you and Moses prove abortive. Please pay up sir,” it said.

Melaye, however, responded a threatening to sue Unique Motors, arguing that the car vendors were trying to use his name to promote their business.

Former Zambian President and independence leader Kenneth Kaunda has died at the age of 97.

His death was confirmed by Zambia’s current President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, who said in a Facebook post today:

“I learnt of your passing this afternoon with great sadness. On behalf of the entire nation and on my own behalf I pray that the entire Kaunda family is comforted as we mourn our First President and true African icon,” the President added.

Kaunda was Zambia’s first president following the southern African country’s independence from Britain. He ruled from 1964 until 1991 and is known as one of the giants in the continent’s fight against colonialism.

Pastor beats wife to death over alleged infidelity

Residents of Ikot Abia village in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State are shocked following the murder of one Patience Christopher, aged 40, by her husband, Pastor Ukachukwu Christopher.

Christopher, 49, the General Overseer of Omega World Global Ministry (Fellowship Church), in the area and an indigene of Ebonyi State, allegedly beat his wife, a mother of five to death on Wednesday after accusing her of infidelity.

It was gathered that he buried her corpse in a shallow grave in his compound to cover his tracks.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon on Thursday said the suspect was arrested after credible information by youths of the area.

MTN warns of service disruption in Nigeria

MTN has warned that its service in Nigeria could be disrupted as a result of rising insecurity in different parts of the country.

The South African network provider on Tuesday in a message seen by Reuters said: “Sadly, we must inform you that with the rising insecurity in different parts of Nigeria, service delivery to your organization may be impacted in the coming days.

“This means that in some cases, our technical support team may not be able to get to your site and achieve optimum turnaround time in fault management as quickly as possible.”

MTN generates a large amount of its revenue from the Nigerian market out of the 22 countries the company operates in, across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

MTN also describes Nigeria as its most problematic market.

The police said on Wednesday that they recovered from the Nigerian cocaine valued $973.

CBN to print Gambian Currency

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, says it is ready to mint the Gambian Dalasi at the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting PLC (NSPMC) facility when both parties sign the deal.

Mr Godwin Emefiele, the CBN Governor accepted the proposal by the Governor of Central Bank of Gambia, Buah Saidy to mint the country’s currency.

The CBG Governor made the proposal on Tuesday when he led a top delegation of the Gambian apex bank to Godwin Emefiele in Abuja.

Production for Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid was put on pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With restrictions lifting across the globe due to vaccine numbers rising, The Little Mermaid cast and crew are back to work in Italy.

Singer Halle Bailey - from the R&B duo Chloe & Halle - was chosen to play Ariel, the role every young "It Girl" in Hollywood was vying for a few years ago. This this will mark the "Grown-ish" star's feature film debut and we're excited to see her flex her acting AND singing skills in an iconic role many of us loved as kids.

In the pictures, Halle is seen wearing a wetsuit and a mermaid tail while on the beach with her co-star Jonah Hauer-King (who will play Prince Eric), leading fans to believe the cast is currently in rehearsals. It appears the actors could have been portraying the scene when Ariel and Prince Eric first met on the beach.

It's worth noting CGI may be used for costumes in certain scenes of the movie, however, that hasn't been confirmed by Disney.

Joining Halle are Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian, Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and Emily Coates as an unknown character. There's speculation Emily will play Vanessa - the human form version of Ursula.

The Little Mermaid remake will incorporate original songs from the 1989 animated hit as well as new tunes from original composer Alan Menken and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda is also producing the film along with the film's director Rob Marshall, Marc Platt and John DeLuca.

We don't have an official premiere date, but when we do, we will surely let you know! We can't WAIT to hear Halle's vocals on "Part of Your World," if the song makes the cut for the remake.

Jamie Foxx To Release New Book ‘Act Like You Got Some Sense’

Jamie Foxx took to social media to announce his forthcoming book, “Act Like You Got Some Sense: And Other Things My Daughters Taught Me.” 

The book, inspired by his relationship with his daughters, Corinne and Anelise, is slated to be released on October 19, 2021.

Jamie Foxx wrote: 

Yoooo I cannot wait for you to read a book that is so special to My heart mind and soul… A book about the relationships between two of the most important people in my life… My beautiful daughters… @corinnefoxx and Anelise Foxx… while writing this book I discovered feelings and emotions that I didn’t even know existed… 

There would be times that I would break out laughing and also times that I would shed tears… my book gives you a bit of history of my own upbringing with my incredible grandmother Estelle Marie Talley A.K.A. “ the first Madea”… and my grandfather Mark Talley “the black John Wayne “… “act like you got some sense” is not only the title of my book but also what my grandmother used to tell me when I was a kid…

The Northern wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), otherwise known as Northern CAN, has said that the worsening security and economic situation in Nigeria has plunged majority of the people into hunger, poverty, frustration and fear.

Northern CAN, in its reaction to June 12 Democracy Day celebration stated that celebrating June 12 as Democracy Day makes no meaning to the Nigerian populace in the face of the kidnapping of school children and attacks on the farming community, a situation which, it fears, may lead to school apathy and food crisis.

Youths are the most affected by injustice in Nigeria – Charly Boy

Charly Boy, says Nigerian youths have not been treated with fairness in the country.

He said injustice is pervasive and, as such, cuts across every ethnic group and region in Nigeria.

Oputa said this on Tuesday at the launch of ‘Project YIGBA’, themed ‘First Non-violent Line of Defence’, in Lagos.

‘Project YIGBA’, convened by Ladi Thompson, a pastor and security consultant, is focused on promoting peace-building efforts in the country.

Speaking on security challenges and the agitations for secession, Charly Boy said youths can no longer be referred to as future leaders, unless the menace of injustice is strategically curtailed.

“The group of people who have been most affected by injustice are young people — the youths, more than the Igbos, more than the Yorubas, more than the middle belt — because this is not the country where you say the youths are the future leaders,” he said.

Ogun Policewoman, Bolaji Senjirin has given birth to triplets, even as the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun paid her a visit.

Ajogun, in company of executive members of Police Community Relations committee (PCRC) visited the Kemta residence of Senjirin on Wednesday.

Ajogun expressed gratitude to God for the safe delivery of the the babies and assured the family of his continued support towards the upkeep of the babies since the mother who is an orderly to his wife is regarded as a member of the CP’s family.

He made a cash donation to the babies and prayed that they would live to fulfill their destiny.

In the same vein, the Chairman, PCRC in the state, Arch. Samson Kunle Popoola and the spokesman for the command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi supported the family with cash donations, while the women wing of the PCRC also pledged to support the family.

Other officers in the company of the CP are: the DPO, Kemta Division, CSP Grace Ejiofor and the Personal Assistant to the CP, DSP Ade Akiti.

VS formerchief marketing officer Ed Razek left the company in 2018 after claiming transgender and plus-size models were not part of the Victoria’s Secret “fantasy.”

JAY-Z Files Lawsuit Against Hip-Hop Photographer Jonathan Mannion in Likeness Dispute

JAY-Z is suing Jonathan Mannion in a lawsuit concerning the use of his likeness in photographs sold and used by the hip-hop photographer, as TMZ reports and Pitchfork can confirm via court documents. The rapper is accusing Mannion, who shot the iconic cover of his debut album Reasonable Doubt, of “exploiting” his name and image “without [his] consent.” He’s seeking an injunction requiring Mannion and his camp to cease using his name and likeness, as well as “compensatory damages, consequential damages, lost profits, and/or disgorgement of Mannion’s profits,” among other damages.

The complaint, filed today (June 15) in a California federal court, reads: “Mannion’s use of JAY-Z’s name, likeness, identity, and persona was, and is, in conscious disregard of JAY-Z’s right of privacy and publicity, and of his exclusive right to control the use and exploitation of his name, likeness, identity, and persona.” The lawsuit accuses Mannion of thereby violating section 3344 of the California Civil Code, as well as JAY-Z’s common law privacy rights.
