The Canadian government has made a declaration amid the rumour of an #EndSARS supporter, DJ Switch, seeking asylum over threats on her life.
Obianuju Catherine Udeh aka DJ Switch had been a target since the live stream of the Lekki toll gate shooting on Instagram.
A statement released on Wednesday, November 11 by the Office of the High Commission of Canada to Nigeria stated that it does not accept refugee applications directly from individuals.
The statement further noted that only the United Nations Refugee Agency, other designated referral organizations, or a private sponsor can grant such an asylum.
The statement reads in full;
‘A message from the Government of Canada’
“Canadian Embassies, High Commissions, Consulates, Consulates-General or Honorary Consulates do not accept refugee applications directly from people.
“Canada works with the United Nations Refugee Agency, other designated referral organizations and private sponsors to identify individuals in need of resettlement, and who are outside their home country.
“You cannot apply directly for resettlement. You must be referred to Canada by a designated referral organization or a private sponsor.
“No one can guarantee that your immigration application will be fast-tracked or approved. Only a Canadian migration officer can decide if you can come to Canada.

David Adedeji Adeleke, professionally known as Davido has narrated how he got a collaboration with American Rap legend, Nas.
The Gobe singer disclosed this in an interview with Reece Parkinson on BBC Radio 1Xtra.
When asked about how he met Nas, Davido said:
“Everything in this album really just happened with the Grace of God and it was just luck. I was at on of Hitboy’s studios working and I’m like ‘let me go to the bathroom real quick’. I use the bathroom and as I come out I’m washing my hands and I look to my right and I just see Nas. True story!
“He was like ‘Are you Davido?’ and I’m like ‘Yeah’. It was crazy.
“I went back to the studio recording and I look behind me and just see Nas comes in the studio, he’s bumping his head.

A viral video has captured moment Mrs. Zaheera Baba-Ari, the Managing Director of the Nigeria Exchange Commission, was unable to tell the current market prices of food items in the country.
Senator Tolulope Odebiyi had asked Mrs. Zaheera the current market prices of some food commodities but she was seen asking her subordinates for answers.
When pressure was mounted on her, she said in defense that she only gets updates of market prices of food items on a weekly basis.
However, when queried further to at least state what food commodities such as cocoa and soya sold in the previous week, she could not.
Reacting to the situation, Senator Odebiyi expressed utter disappointment, stressing that as the MD of the Nigeria Exchange Commission, she should at least have an overview of the market prices of food commodities in the country.

President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has declared 7-day national mourning as he suspends his re-election campaign over the demise of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
Rawlings passed on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital from coronavirus complications.
In addition to the national mourning, which will start from Friday, November 13 to November 20, all national flags will fly half-mast for Rawlings.
In a statement confirming the death, the Ghanaian President expressed his deepest condolence to the family and the entire nation over the loss.
President Akufo-Addo pledged his support to the family throughout their difficult moment, adding that the nation will be informed of the preparations for his befitting state burial.

It is with great sadness that I announce to the nation that the 1* President of 4th Republic, His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings, has joined his ancestors.
This tragic event occurred at 10:10am on Thursday, 12th November 2020, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where the former President was receiving treatment, after a short illness.
I convey the deep sympathies of Government and the people of Ghana to his wife, the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the children, and family of the late President in these difficult times.
I have directed that all national flags should fly at half-mast for the next seven (7) days in all parts of the country, and have declared seven days of national mourning from Friday, 13th November to Friday, 20h November. In honour of the memory of former President Rawlings, the Vice President and I have suspended our political campaigns for same period.
Government will work closely with the family of President Rawlings on the arrangements for a fitting State Funeral for the late President, and will keep the nation informed accordingly.

Apple has unveiled its latest MacBooks: the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro as well as Mac Mini on November 10 during its hardware event tagged ‘One More Thing’.
The event was Apple’s third in three months, following its iPhone event in October and the unveiling of its new line of Apple Watches in September.
The new laptops are the first to contain the M1 chip, Apple’s new homemade chip that will replace Intel chips in its Mac line.

The short film took home an Academy Award in 2020 for best animated short film. Last May, it was released as a children’s book with illustrations by Vashti Harrison.

Wentworth Miller has confirmed he will not be returning for the sixth season of Fox Network’s ‘Prison Break’.
In January, Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn said that there was a possibility of a new season of Prison Break. However, if that becomes a reality, Miller made it clear that he would not be involved.
On Instagram, Miller who played star actor ‘Michael Scofiled’, thanked fans for his support and spoke out against bullying of the LGBTQIA+ community – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, asexual and many other sexual/gender identity.
Miller then went on to talk about the potential of a new season of Prison Break but revealed that he is quitting the show because as a gay man, he doesn’t want play heterosexual character anymore.

Benue State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Emmanuel Ikwulono has passed away on Wednesday, November 11, three months after being sworn into office as Commissioner.
He was sworn in on August 5, 2020, after his predecessor, Dr Sunday Ongbabo resigned his position as a member of the State Executive Council.
His death as announced on Radio Nigeria, Harvest FM located in Makurdi occurred in Jos, the Plateau State capital where he was taken to for medical attention.
Though no formal statement has been issued by the family of the deceased, a Government House source confirmed that the Commissioner died of complications at a Jos hospital after undergoing surgery for an undisclosed ailment.

A lady identified as Chinasa Sophia has been found dead inside a drainage at Odikpi village, along Osumenyi/Akwuihedi road, Osumenyi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The deceased, who is said to be a graduate of the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Enugu State, was found with her hands and legs tied with rope and mouth gagged.
According to police report, she was found lifeless with marks of violence on her body inside the gutter by residents in the area.
She was rushed to Visitation Hospital Osumenyi where she was pronounced dead by a Doctor.
Confirming the incident, Haruna Mohammed, spokesman of the State Police Command on Wednesday, November 11, said efforts are being made to apprehend the perpetrators.
He expressed;
On the 10/11/2020 at about 12pm, there was a report by a good Samaritan from Osumenyi in Nnewi South LGA that a girl whose name and address is yet to be ascertained, aged about 22years was seen lying lifeless inside a gutter along Osumenyi/Akwuihedi road Osumenyi with mark of violence on her neck, mouth was sealed with tape while her legs and hands were tied with rope.
Mohammed stated;
Scene was visited by Police operatives attached to Nnewi Area Command and victim was rushed to Visitation Hospital Osumenyi where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Corpse was photorgraphed and deposited at the same hospital morgue for autopsy and effort being intensified to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident in order to apprehend perpetrators and bring them to book.
However, shortly after the news of her death became public, the identity of the lady was known, as friends familiar with her mourned her on social media.
According to one David Azubike Chikwunyelum who knew the victim, said late Chinasa was a sales girl until her death.
He expressed;
Some time on Sunday evening or Monday this week i came across this post (Only the victim as her lifeless body lays on the drainage), I by passed it, reason I can’t Identify the face, secondly I don’t have come to believe that some whom i know will be a such victim, it never occurred in my mind. Today as I arrive for normal business my neighbors greeted that a lady was killed in Nnewi by unknown people and dump in the gutter and was in Facebook, I remembered I came across such! I ask for her identity , oh my God it’s Chinasa, she is a sales girl, I use to buy from her Bullet energy drink, Pure Heaven fruit juice and Vitasoy soya drink. May her soul rest in peace.
Other friends and former classmates of the victim taken to Facebook to mourn her, cursing the perpetrators of the act.

Johnny Depp will reportedly pocket his $10 million salary from his work on Fantastic Beasts 3 despite being axed after only filming one scene.
The 57-year-old Hollywood star was cut from the film by Warner Bros. after he lost a libel suit against The Sun in which they alleged he was a "wife beater."
The actor has only worked for one day on the new sequel to Fantastic Beasts, since filming began in London on September 30.
The Hollywood Reporter has said that Depp will still receive his full salary for playing Gellert Grindelwald in the JK Rowling series, despite being told that he would be leaving the franchise with immediate effect after the verdict in the libel trial.
The movie has also been delayed until July 15, 2022 due to the coronavirus pandemic, after originally being slated for a November 12, 2021 release.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star reportedly had a pay-to-play provision in his contract, which meant that he would be paid in full regardless of what happened with the movie.
This included if the film was scrapped altogether or if Depp's character was played by another actor, with Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne among the favourites to replace him.
It has been reported that Warner Bros. did not axe Depp from the film but, instead, asked him to step down from his role in the franchise, which has taken $1.4 billion at the box office worldwide.
Depp took to Instagram last week to share his feelings on the issue and stated that "the allegations against [him] are false."
He added that his "life and career will not be defined by this moment in time".
Speaking to his fans, Depp added: "I’d like to thank everybody who has gifted me with their support and loyalty.

Toke Makinwa said what she is going through is no longer funny as she spends about N30,000 a week on electricity alone and N120,000 a month in total.
She says the Government is doing everything to make her citizens not have peace.
She took to twitter just now to lay her complain. What she tweeted;
''Damnnnn the government just makes it tough for its citizen to have peace, this increase on PHCN tariff is ridiculous, how do I spend 120k at 30k a week on light alone? That’s it I’m going back to my village, idanre here I come
''You spend 30k per week to recharge Nepa card, that’s 120k a month and 1.2million a year to keep the lights on in Nigeria. Jokessssssssssss phew Smiling face with open mouth and cold sweat'', her second tweet read.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has stated that one of Nigeria’s top priorities now is getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
Prof. Osinbajo said this on Thursday at the opening session of the virtual edition of the Paris Peace Forum which featured presentations by some Heads of State & government alongside international organisations, on a collective response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ChannelsTV writes.
Listing Nigeria’s priorities in its COVID-19 response, the Vice President said “the priorities of Nigeria in the post-COVID-19 era include improved healthcare and the economy. First, we need to keep the virus under control. While our guards are still firmly in place, getting the COVID-19 vaccine is a matter of utmost concern.”
