How CCTV saved me- Doctor detained for trying to rescue RCCG suicide victim

An Abuja-based medical doctor, Daniel Eitokpah, who was detained after trying to revive a suicide victim, Michael Arowosaiye, has described his exoneration as providential.
Arowosaiye, who was a gospel artist with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, had reportedly hanged himself on Tuesday at Sunnyvale Estate, Lokogoma District, Abuja.
An Instagram user, Eitokpah Henri-Paul, had posted a series of videos on Wednesday, with a caption that read in part,
“My brother, a medical doctor, along with two onlookers were detained for trying to help resuscitate a young man who committed suicide yesterday. The police have him held for no reason; they named them as suspects, and asked them to write statements without any reason for detaining them.”
Daniel, who graduated from Ternopil State Medical School, Ukraine in 2016 and completed his house job at the National Hospital, Abuja, is a National Youth Service Corps member.
The doctor, in an interview with our a PUNCH correspondent, said he lived in Sunnyvale Estate, where the incident occurred on Tuesday evening.

Naira Marley will be charged to court on Monday, 20th of May 2019 where he’d be formally arraigned at Lagos Federal High Court over allegations of card theft and forgery.
In all, the anti-graft agency in the case marked FHC/L/178c/19, has slammed 11-count charge against the musician.
Details of the court papers show that most of the charges border on use of forged or stolen access card to obtain money, offences, which are punishable by the Cyber Crimes Prohibition law of Nigeria.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has reacted to the report that a church minister identified as Michael Arowosaiye, committed suicide.
RCCG in a statement issued on Thursday, said the late Arowosaiye was not a minister in the church.
The statement was signed by the Church’s Head, Media and Public Relations, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi.
While admitting that the late Arowosaiye was a singer and keyboardist in one of the Youth Parish in Abuja, Olubiyi said the deceased had left the church for another ministry in 2017.

Zimbabwe has sold nearly 100 elephants to China and Dubai for a total price of $2.7 million over six years, the country’s wildlife agency said on Wednesday, citing overpopulation.
Parks and Wildlife Management Authority spokesman, Tinashe Farawo, told AFP Zimbabwe’s elephants were overcrowding national parks, encroaching into human settlements, destroying crops and posing a risk to human life.
“We have 84,000 elephants against a carrying capacity of 50,000,” he said, justifying the sales. “We believe in the sustainable use of resources, so we sell a few elephants to take care of the rest.
Farawo said 200 people have died in “human-and-animal conflict” in the past five years, “and at least 7,000 hectares of crop have been destroyed by elephants”.

The average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) decreased by -0.87% month-on-month and -0.57% year-on-year to N2,046.53 in April 2019 from N2,064.45 in March 2019.

Amazon offers Employees $10,000 to Quit their Jobs & Start Package Delivery Business
Amazon announced its plan to deliver packages faster for its customers.
The company made an offer to its employees, telling them to quit their jobs and it’ll help them start a business delivering Amazon packages.
Amazon says it’ll cover up to $10,000 in startup costs for interested employees, adding that it will also pay them three months’ worth of their salary. TIME reports that the program started last year and it’s part of the company’s plan to launch an independent Amazon delivery business.
