Saheed Arogundade got the sentence for the murder of a 32-year-old policeman, Gbenga Oladipupo.

Justice Olabisi Akinlade discharged and acquitted Arogundade’s five co-defendants Mustapha Layeni, Adebayo Abdullahi, Seyi Pabiekun, Sikiru Rufai and Yusuf Arogundade of a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
In a 3-hour judgment, the judge at a Ikeja High Court, held that the prosecution was able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Arogundade murdered the policeman.
Before delivering the judgment, for security reasons and to avoid disruption of proceedings, the judge ordered that the courtroom should be locked and the keys kept in her possession.

“The prosecution has been able to prove beyond reasonable doubt, the ingredients of conspiracy to commit murder and murder against the first defendant (convict).
“I therefore pronounce the first defendant guilty as charged on the counts of conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
“I hereby pronounce the sentence of the court upon you Saheed Arogundade – that you be hanged from the neck until you are dead. May God have mercy upon your soul,” Akinlade said.

APC Has No Candidates in Rivers State - INEC

The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt had on Monday ordered a stay of execution of the Federal High Court’s ruling, which barred the APC from fielding candidates in the forthcoming general election in Rivers State.There is no reprieve for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that it has not reversed its decision that the party has no candidates in the impending general election in the state.
INEC’s declaration coincided with another decision Wednesday by the same Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt granting stay of execution on the judgment of the Federal High Court barring the commission from listing candidates of the APC in the state on the ballot in the coming general election.
This came as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to INEC for extension of time by three days for collection of Permanent Voters Card (PVCs).

He, however, pointed out that the team’s finishing should be worked on ahead of their next encounter, saying the improvement in their scoring abilities would make them the team hard to beat during the tournament.

Can this just happen in one night raid? No, no bank ATM can house such a huge amount of money. In fact, the average sized ATM machine can hold as much as $200,000, although only few machines do. But in off hours, most ATM machines contain less than $10,000. This is as a result of withdrawal during the day and a good security measure. For most ATM thefts happen during off hours.
Back to the question “how was he able to withdraw such a huge amount from a machine with limited cash deposit”. Could he possible had stolen the money from several machines and accumulated the sums? No, he actually did find a loophole and exploited his discovery for years.

FRSC To Ban Sale Of Alcohol Nation-Wide

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said that it has begun plans to ban the indiscriminate sales of alcohol and other drug-related contents in the country.
The road safety corp declared this on Wednesday, February 6.

The corp said that the plan is to see that road users, drivers are free from the claws of alcoholism while driving on Nigerian roads.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Imo state, Joseph Aremu, said the outright ban of alcohol will be restricted to motor parks in the country.
Aremu made the call on Wednesday at the launch of its “Don’t Drink and Drive Campaign,” involving members of the state chapter of the National Association of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Owerri, Imo state.

The State Minister for Tourism, Mr Godfrey Kiwanda, said Tuesday that a beauty pageant dubbed ‘Miss Curvy Uganda’ has been launched to select sexy curvaceous women with the finalists being picked in June.
Mr Kiwanda was speaking at the unveiling of the initiative at Mestil Hotel in Kampala where women in sleek revealing clothing moved around the poolside taking pictures with the event organisers including the deputy minister.

Alleged N4.7 billion fraud: Court declares Ladoja 'Not Guilty' of all 11 counts

The Federal High Court in Lagos has declared Rasheed Ladoja and a former Commissioner for Finance, Waheed Akanbi, not guilty of the N4.7 billion fraud allegations leveled against them by the EFCC.

At the hearing of the case on Friday February 8, Justice Mohammed Idris stated that the prosecution was not consistent with the amount of money missing from the sale of the Oyo State Government’s shares.

The court found them not guilty of all the 11 counts.

The annual panel discussion which seeks to showcase different issues relating to the black community, was held at the Sheikh Zayed Theatre and “The Role of Arts, in the Black Community” was the topic of the day.On the 1st of February 2018, Tomi Badejoko and DJ Cuppy, music producer, Julz and filmmaker, Dami Vaughn were invited to speak at the Black Ascent event which is hosted by the London School of Economics.
