Armed robber wearing a wig killed during shootout with security operatives in Edo state

A suspected armed robber was on Saturday night, killed during a shootout with vigilante group in Ubiaja Town, in Esan South Local Government Area of Edo state.

It was gathered that the deceased and his gang members have been terrorizing the community.

The robber met his waterloo when he and his gang went to rob the popular Ogbeide Hospital on Saturday night, December 5.  A distress call was sent to the local vigilante group. 

The robbers, on sighting the vigilante, opened fire on them. The one pictured wearing a wig was killed while the rest were reportedly arrested.

Judge Gives EFCC March 3 Deadline To Produce Diezani

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday fixed March 3, 2021, for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to fully comply with orders in the money laundering trial of former minister of petroleum resources Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu fixed the date after EFCC counsel Farouk Abdullah prayed the court for more time to enable the anti-graft agency ensure full compliance with the court orders. “The court made some orders in the last date that this matter came up. The prosecutions has taken steps to ensure that the orders are complied with; that has not come to fruition yet but steps have been taken. “In view of this, may I humbly apply that this matter be adjourned to enable the prosecution comply fully with the order of the court,” Mr Abdullah said. Justice Ojukwu adjourned the matter until March 3, 2021 for report on the prosecution’s effort and for possible arraignment of the former minister. The judge had on October 28 refused to grant the EFCC’s application seeking the court order on the issuance of warrant of arrest against Diezani. Justice Ojukwu held that an affidavit with evidence in support to proof that the earlier court summon granted the agency had failed in the extradition of Diezani must be filed by the commission before another request could be made. The EFCC had accused the former minister of fleeing the country for the UK in order to escape justice.

795 houses to be demolished for Lagos 4th Mainland Bridge

The federal and Lagos State governments, on Thursday, said about 795 houses might be demolished to pave the way for the construction of the 37-kilometres Fourth Mainland Bridge.

They said a lot of efforts were made to reduce the number of affected houses from the initial 9,000 to 795.

This was revealed at the Environmental Social Impact Assessment Stakeholders’ Scoping Workshop on the project in Lagos.

Court frees nurse accused of killing Davido's uncle, Isiaka

Alfred Aderibigbe, a personal nurse to Davido's uncle and ex-Osun State Governor, Isiaka Adeleke, arraigned for killing the politician was on Thursday  discharged and acquitted by the court.

Aderibigbe, who treated the late Adeleke before his death, had been dragged before an Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo, after a coroner inquest indicted him of administering drug overdose on the deceased.

But Justice Ayo Oyebiyi in his judgement , after the trial that lasted almost two and half years, declared that the prosecution could not prove that Aderibigbe killed the deceased and subsequently discharged him of any wrongdoing.

Upon his first arraignment before the court on on June 8, 2018, Aderibigbe pleaded not guilty to murder charge pressed against him.

Reports suggested that Obasanjo finally reconciled with Adams at the residence of Chief Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos.

But Obasanjo, in a statement issued by Kehinde Akinyemi, his Special Assistant on Media, said his attention had been drawn to some publications reporting an acclaimed reconciliation between Adams and himself at the residence of Chief Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos on Wednesday.

India Police arrest three Nigerians with 220g of Cocaine

The Mumbai Police Special Squad in India on Thursday, December 3, busted a drug peddling syndicate and arrested three Nigerian nationals in the Malad and Royal Palm areas of the town.

The Nigerians were found with 220 grams of cocaine worth over Rs 22 lakhs ($29,833.32).

They were arrested by the Special Squad of Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone XI along with the Bangur Nagar police.

According to an official, the police, while acting on a tip-off, laid a trap at Link Road in Malad and first apprehended 38-year-old Uche James after he arrived to deliver the contraband on Wednesday, December 2.

Court grants Fayose permission to travel abroad for medical treatment

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Friday granted permission to former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Fayose is standing trial for alleged money laundering of N2.2 billion.

The judge, Chukwjekwu Aneke granted the order following an application filed before the court by Fayose’s lawyer, Ola Olanipekun (SAN).

The EFCC’s prosecutor, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) did not oppose the request, thereafter, Justice Aneke adjourned the case till January 22, 2021 for continuation of trial.

Fayose is standing trial alongside a company called Spotless Investment Limited, for alleged laundering of N2.2 billion.

A fan of Laycon, has advised the singer to stop featuring upcoming artistes in his songs.

This is coming after Laycon shared a tweet asking his fans what they think is the best scene from one of his recently released music videos.

“So, my team and I have been arguing for an hour over which we think is the best scene in HipHop video. Decided to ask you, my family members…. What’s your favorite scene in HipHop video? These are mine… Share screenshots of yours,” the BBNaija winner wrote.

In reaction to his tweet, a fan took to the comment session to warn Laycon about featuring upcoming artistes in his songs.

Woman Arrested After Setting up Dating Profile Offering Free Meth Using Ex's New Girlfriend's Info

Floridan woman was arrested on Saturday for sending threatening texts to a woman and posting the victims address on a dating website.

A Florida woman has been arrested for creating a fake dating profile in an attempt to ruin another woman’s life.

Vanessa Marie Huckaba allegedly created a dating profile saying there was “free meth tonight” at the woman\s home, the New York Post reports. The profile, set up on the website Seeking Arrangement, included the 36-year-old victim’s name, photo, cell phone number, and address. The victim was dating Huckaba’s ex-boyfriend.

“Multiple strangers began arriving at the victim’s residence thereafter,” said Adam Linhardt, a spokesman for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Some even sent the woman naked photos of themselves.

The victim said that Huckaba began harassing her on Oct. 21, after she started dating Huckaba’s ex, whom she had been with for six months. The victim and the 29-year-old Huckaba had never met before.

Huckaba allegedly threatened the victim over the phone and through text messages, with one text reading, “You think texts are bad, next is your house and your job.” The victim blocked Huckaba on her phone, but she ended up calling back on a different number.

The victim filed for a restraining order, which was authorized on Oct. 28, after which Huckaba set up the dating profile. She was apprehended on Saturday and charged with cyberstalking and harassing, both misdemeanors. She was released the same day on a $5,000 bond and will have to appear in court on a later date.

Anti-Gay Hungarian Politician Jozsef Szajer Resigns After Being Caught By Police Leaving a 25-Man Orgy Through a Window

Jozsef Szajer,59 a member of the European Parliament representing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party known for pushing anti-LGBT legislation, has resigned from his position in Brussels after he was caught leaving a 25-man gay orgy.

According to reports, he ignored Belgium’s COVID-19 lockdown to attend the sex party. The police found 25 naked men at the gathering, including Szajer and some diplomats, the Belgian newspaper La Dernière Heure reported.

The newspaper quoted a local police source as saying, “We interrupted a gang bang.”

Jozsef climbed out a first-floor window and was spotted “fleeing along the gutter,” the public prosecutor’s office said.

A source close to the investigation told Politico that officers were called after a complaint about a “night-time disturbance.”

‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ CAST Resumes Filming With New COVID-19 Rules

Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” has resumed filming after being forced to shut down when a crew member contracted COVID-19 last month.

The production resumed filming, “soon after Thanksgiving,” with new enhanced COVID-19 safety measures, an insider told Page Six.

The ladies will now be “spending more time together outdoors, avoiding crowds and having daily health checks and getting tested regularly,” the source said.

We’re also told the cast and crew have been practicing “enhanced hand hygiene,” and “enhanced sanitization protocols for the equipment,” used at locations where they’re filming.

Meanwhile, leading cast member Kandi Burruss is already apparently putting herself in risky situations: She and her husband, Todd Tucker, were spotted out at a nightclub celebrating family friend Reginae Carter’s 22nd birthday at a maskless gathering on Sunday, we previously reported.

Reps for Burruss and Bravo did not comment on the bash, but Burruss seemed to acknowledge it wasn’t the best decision. “Lord, we ain’t supposed to be outside! Only in Atlanta,” she said in a video posted on Instagram. She later assured her followers that she gets tested “multiple times” per week.

In a new interview for Elle’s special digital holiday edition, Mariah Carey discusses on why Christmas is such an important time for her. The singer, 50 — whose Magical Christmas Special hits Apple TV+ on Friday — described herself as “eternally 12” and said the holiday season is “maybe the one time that I got to breathe for a second.”

“After I kind of emerged from my first relationship-slash-marriage [to Tommy Mottola] I created the Christmases that I wanted to have,” she told the magazine, adding of her troubled childhood: “A lot of very bad stuff happened to me when I was 12. But also, there is the spirit of that kid, that fighter who doesn’t give up, who does embrace who she is, even though the world didn’t understand that from my point of view.”

As for her annual Christmas celebration, she explained: “I literally go to a snowy place. Reindeer are there — I’m not making this up. Santa Claus comes, hangs out with the kids. And by the way, even if I didn’t have kids, I would be doing this.”

“I think it’s just that longing that I had as a child, that I always wanted things to be perfect for the holidays. And they never were,” Carey added to the magazine. “It was always somebody ruining the moment, always these dysfunctional family members who came around and foiled everything. And so I just made a pact with myself that I wasn’t going to allow that to happen anymore.”

With her perennial hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and her new star-studded special, Carey said she hopes to supply some much-needed holiday cheer after a rough 2020.

“It’s been such a hard year, and I really feel like people so need a celebratory moment. At every turn, it’s like, ‘We can’t be [together]; you can’t celebrate. This is canceled; that’s canceled,’ ” she told Elle.

“I came to [the new Christmas special] with the spirit of ‘Let’s make it festive no matter what,’?” Carey said. “If you go into anything with that kind of hopefulness, then it’ll happen.”

Russian TV Station Runs Obama Blackface Skit

A pro-Kremlin television channel is facing backlash for a racist parody of Barack Obama by an actor in blackface.

A Russian TV station has generated outrage over a skit it aired in which an actress donned blackface to play Barack Obama. The caveat to that statement is that most of that outrage seems to be based in America, which is to say it’s unlikely to matter in any way to the actual station.

According to TMZ, the bit ran on a satirical show broadcast by Russia’s NTV channel. In the footage, an actress can be seen wearing gold chains, a red bandana, and black gloves.

Brandon Blackstock Wants $436K In Monthly Support In Kelly Clarkson Divorce

 Brandon Blackstock is looking for a hefty amount of spousal and child support. The music manager, is seeking $436,000 in monthly spousal and child support after an L.A. County judge granted Clarkson primary physical custody.

The "Break Away" singer, 38, was granted primary physical custody of her two children with estranged husband Brandon Blackstock on Monday, and now People is reporting that the music manager is requesting $436,000 in monthly spousal and child support.

A source told the publication that Blackstock, 43, has “been equally unreasonable in his requests for child and spousal support, as well as attorney fees. Kelly’s offered to pay for all the kids’ expenses, but Brandon seems to think he is entitled to and needs $301,000 in spousal support and $135,000 in child support per month.”

If Blackstock is granted his request, he would pocket more than $5.2 million per year to care for himself, their daughter River Rose, 6, and their son Remington Alexander, 4.

The source continued, “Additionally, he’s already asked for $2 million for attorney fees when he’s the one driving up the cost of the divorce with seven attorneys just representing him alone.”

The “Since U Been Gone” singer first filed for divorce from Blackstock in June after seven years of marriage.

She  spoke out about the split on an episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” telling viewers, “My mom has been telling me since I was a kid: You are who you surround yourself with. You want to make sure you’re surrounded by people that also want to be the best versions of themselves and also want a good common goal for everyone, not just themselves, right?”

“People, like, could be bad for you in a certain time. And I think that everybody just goes, ‘Oh, well that means they’re bad.’ Well, it doesn’t necessarily mean that, it just means that you’re on different paths. And I think that that’s OK… Everybody’s on a different learning curve.”

After receiving backlash for coming out as lesbian, South Sudanese supermodel Aweng Ade-Chuol is embracing her sexuality on the January 2021 cover of ELLE UK.

The former refugee, 21, was photographed kissing wife Alexus Ade-Chuol (whom she married at New York City Hall in July) for the striking cover and poses topless with the nail artist entrepreneur inside the issue. The couple slayed matching black-and-white polka dot looks, head-to-toe leather ensembles and straight-leg denim for the shoot.

In the cover story, Aweng speaks about her suicide attempt, mental health and criticism she received from the South Sudan community after getting married.

“That is really baffling to me, and I’m still processing it,” she told ELLE UK of the backlash. “We got married and the whole world, literally the whole of my community, were wishing that I passed, in a way… A few months later, I attempted [suicide]. It was really absurd, because subconsciously I felt I was maybe drained by the fact we’d got married. It’s still a discussion now, like, ‘How dare she marry a woman?'”

The supermodel continued: “You can’t control what people say, and there were tabloids and newspapers back in Sudan… It was a whole thing. For me, it was like, with the political climate that’s going on, you really think that my marriage is the most significant thing in your life right now? It was saddening, because it was the happiest day of my life, and they couldn’t let me enjoy it.”

Aweng opens about the impact of COVID-19 and being in lockdown, explaining that the events of the last few months gave her a “reality check” about the importance of mental health.

“I’ve always been outspoken, and mental health has always been something that I’ve spoken on. But I guess I didn’t experience the other side of it until this year, when lockdown impacted my life directly, actually [put my] life at risk. When that happened, it was a reality check. Before, it was like, mental health is important, but now, it is the most important thing. Where you’re at mentally is the most important foundation.”

Lifetime released the trailer for the upcoming Wendy Williams biopic, ‘Wendy Williams: The Movie’ will include Wendy’s rise to fame, issues with drug addiction and the end of her marriage to Kevin Hunter.According to Deadline, the feature-length documentary sheds light on her private life as she speaksto the camera about the joy and the humiliation she has experienced since childhood.

Wendy is an executive producer on the biopic, which features Ciera Payton (The Oval, She’s Gotta Have It) and Morocco Omari (P-Valley, Empire).

The script was written by Leigh Davenport (Run the World, Boomerang) and Scarlett Lacey (Magnum P.I., The Royals), and the TV movie was directed by Darren Grant (The Chi, God Friended Me).

“Before I had you, I had me, and not you, nor anyone else has the power to take away my gifts!” Payton’s Williams yells in the trailer, before declaring she’ll “turn this city out.”

Emily Bauer had only been working at the Red Hook Seafood and Bar in San Antonio for about two weeks when she was scheduled for a busy Sunday shift, per KVUE. Bauer said she kept apologizing to every table for “being slow,” but there was one customer in particular who understood her circumstance. “He was just like, ‘I understand.’ He also mentioned he owned restaurants. So he knew how hard it was to be a server,” she recalled.
