2019: Senator Mark Charges Nigerians To Change The Change

Mark made the charge at Ugbokolo in Okpokwu local government of Benue state during the funeral service of the wife of the former minister of Interior, Abba Moro, Mrs Lynda Moro yesterday.
The former Senate President said that the priest had said everything in his sermon and called on the people of the state and Nigerian in particular to heed the advice of the Rev Fr.
Earlier, President of Catholic Diocesan Priests of Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Sylvester Onmoke, had who lamented the security problem across country occasioned by herdsmen killings, kidnapping called on Nigerians to get their voters cards and use it wisely in the coming elections.
The priest had described Nigeria as a country in mourning following incessant killings being witnessed across the country.
He said he was ashamed that the government has become docile as it watches helplessly as the country bleeds on a daily basis.
The Rev Father said that President Mohammadu Buhari had made assurances to do something to stop the killings during the visit of Catholic bishops to him at Aso Rock but regretted that instead for the killings to abate it has continued to increase.
He urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the country to overcome the present insecurity situation, Fr Onmoke also advised Catholics to arm themselves with rosaries.
He advised school owners, educators, including Catholics and Methodists to close their schools early enough to enable children to return home peacefully.
Reverend Onmoke who said the Catholic church will never be silent about injustice, condemned the killings, especially the one going on in Benue state, particularly the recent one in sleepy Omusu village of Okpokwu local government which claimed about 24 lives.
“How would they have driven to Omusu and nobody detected them. It is not enough to send soldiers…A fellow Fulani man will not allow a Fulani soldier to kill a Fulani man.
“We will continue to pray because the God we serve is a warrior and he will never abandon his people.”
“Am not a politician but am speaking the mind of the people, we should all go out and register because our country is bleeding”.
“Thank God that the tenure of elected leaders is four years and three years is gone and we are still dangling with killings and kidnapping without development, we should all go out to register to vote when you vote remain at polling unit until your vote is counted.”
Immediate past Governor of Benue, Gabriel Suswam, also thanked the Rev Father for his timely sermon and called on all eligible voters in the state to get their voters cards to make the good change in forthcoming general elections.Räägi sõbrale... #AFRICA ... spill TEA ABOUT THE TOPIC ABOVE.... Lady Who Embarrassed Olamide In German Hotel Over 20 Minutes Performance Shares Her Own Side Of The Story

The Nigerian lady based in Germany who embarrassed the Nigerian music superstar, Olamide, in Germany told her side of the story.

Jacobs May, whose video on his altercation with Nigerian hip-hop artist Olamide went viral last week, offered an explanation for the reported incident.

She said that everything she wanted when she challenged Olamide in a hotel lounge was an excuse for her rather short performance when fans were expecting "something better" at a show in Germany.

Read her interview below;
What do you do?
My name is Jacobs May. I am a Germany-based Nigerian entertainer. I am a dancer and I own a dancing school which focuses on African contemporary dance. As a Nigerian in the Diaspora, I try to use my dance to promote the Nigerian heritage.
What led to the fight in the video?
I really did not want to talk further about the Olamide issue, but I saw a video on YouTube and this made me realise some Nigerians still have no clue or an in-depth understanding of what exactly happened in the video.
The organisers approached me, six weeks to the show, asking me to invest €6,000 in the show as Olamide will be in Germany to perform. I told them the notification was too short for me to invest that kind of money.
Three weeks to the show, they contacted me again, begging me to use my photograph to promote the show, which I accepted to do. I also posted the photo on my Facebook and Instagram pages and even told my followers and other people to get their own tickets.
So, were you at the event?
Yes, I was at the event. I bought a VIP ticket for €100, though I was not supposed to pay, considering the fact that I was used to advertise the show, but I did it to support them.
What happened between you and Olamide at the event?
Olamide and I didn’t have any confrontation at the show, but his attitude was so annoying that I had to confront him after the show. It wasn’t an Olamide show but he was the main artiste. Some other Nigerian artistes also featured in the show.
What did he do at the show?
I was told that Olamide arrived at the hotel where I also lodged on Saturday and he was scheduled to perform at 1:00am on Sunday. But to my amazement, Olamide came up at 3:30am, having kept people waiting for two hours.
By the time he came on stage, fans were furious. People were already drunk and they started flinging objects onto the stage. I was seated on the VIP section, which was mounted on the stage. I was part of the people who got hit by a bottle and I almost collapsed on stage. People, including me, got so angry after Olamide performed for only 20 minutes. People paid so much to watch your performance and you put up a shabby performance and for just 20 minutes.
So, what happened after the show?
Like I mentioned earlier, I lodged in the same hotel as Olamide. I got to know when he arrived on Saturday because I have been in the hotel since Friday.
Since we were in the same hotel, I walked up to him in the lobby at daybreak to explain what had happened to me as a result of him coming late on stage. I approached him as a civil person and told him what had happened to me. I also told him that it was unfair that he flew seven hours only for a 20-minute show. I confronted him with the fact that it was disrespectful of him to have come late and not to apologise to his fans and to also throw a 20-minute performance for fans that have waited over two hours for him.
I was dazed when he stood up and walked out on me.
What happened thereafter?
I was full of rage when he showed no concern, compassion or remorse. That was when I brought out my phone to record the whole incident. Perhaps if he was polite I would have accepted his apology and walked quietly to my room; but his attitude led to the fiasco.
Just like it is often said that pride goes before a fall, there was no way I would tolerate such an attitude.
Did you contact the organisers of the show?
Yes, I did.
What was their reaction to the video?
They did a video disclaiming my accusations and saying it was a wrong move.
What do you intend doing to them?
I am suing them. I will make sure no show is done here again if the security of the people cannot be guaranteed.
Did Olamide contact you after the video went viral?
No. In fact, I believe there is no need for that. His arrogance would not even let him do such.
The manager said you were only trying to get Olamide’s attention. Is it true?
That is not true, but I’m not surprised because I wouldn’t have expected less; that is so typical of Nigerians. I had no clue he was staying at the hotel before I lodged there.
Of course, what do you expect his manager to say? Sure, they will always make it sound bad for me, but I care less. I just said things the way they are and I am sure next time he wouldn’t try such and other artistes will also learn from this.

Ex-Governor Daniel Challenges Afenifere On Yoruba Unity

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former governor of Ogun State, stressed the need for the socio-cultural organization Yoruba, Afenifere, to broaden its reach and to welcome stakeholders from all political parties and interest groups to to build a solid platform to free the Yoruba. race. Daniel said this by welcoming members of the Ogun Afenifere Chapter led by one of its founding members, Senator Femi Okunrounmu and State President Otunba Kunle Majekodunmi, who were visiting his Asoludero residence in Sagamu Thursday.
According to him, recent developments in the polity have made it expedient for the group to evolve and throw its doors wide open to allow members from different political affiliations come into the fold.
“There’s nothing that is static. We have to take a second look around and see the emancipation of Yoruba race as the centerpiece of our collective goal.
“To liberate the Yoruba race, we must first of all bring everybody back to Afenifere. We have to open our eyes wide and see that there’s is a clear and precise danger ahead which could only be surmounted if we sit down and use our God’s given talent of fighting and winning wars without the use of weapons as we had during the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) days,” he said.
In his own speech, Senator Okunrounmu described Otunba Daniel as one of the pillars of Afenifere who has made and is still making immense contributions to the sustainability of the group more especially after the death of Chief Abraham Adesanya.
Afenifere, as a group, he said, usually gets stronger in times of crisis because that is when all the stakeholders come together under one umbrella and concerted efforts must be made to see that it is firmly on ground to checkmate any unforeseen occurrence.
He also indicted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party that is incompetent to rule the nation going by the level of hunger, high rate of unemployment and insecurity in the nation calling for restructuring as the only solution to the nation’s problem.
“We must go back to the old constitution that recognised the autonomy of each region so that each can exploit its resources and develop at its own pace,” he said.
Earlier, the State Chairman of Afenifere, Otunba Kunle Majekodunmi, who spoke about the importance of the organisation thanked Otunba Daniel for his constant support and hinted that he has identified three key areas as his major projects to move the organisation forward in security, publicity and funding.
Present at the meeting were former Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Otunba Kunle Bolujoko, Chief Jide Sanyaolu, Mr. Kunle Mabinuori, Chief R. K. Majekodunmi, Princess Taiwo Okusaga, Otunba Tayo Onayemi and other distinguished stakeholders.Räägi sõbrale... #AFRICA ... spill TEA ABOUT THE TOPIC ABOVE.... Easy on Shade #jaiyeorie

NASA Plans First Mission To Sun

According to a NASA online statement released on Friday, a microchip that stores all the names collected before April 27 would be installed on the mission, “and your name will go along for the ride’’.
The mission would be launched this summer for a trip to the sun’s atmosphere about 6.4 million km from the surface to study how the star affects space and other planets.
A car-sized spacecraft would approach the sun at a fast speed that would reach approximately over 690,000 km per hour at the closest distance.
The spacecraft has a thick carbon-composite shield of 4.5 inches to withstand the sun’s heat which can reach nearly 1371 degrees Celsius.
Scientists expect the mission could help study the sun’s magnetic fields, plasma and energetic particles, and image the solar wind at room temperature.
“This incredible spacecraft is going to reveal so much about our star and how it works that we’ve not been able to understand,’’ project scientist Nicola Fox said in a NASA statement.Räägi sõbrale... #AFRICA ... spill TEA ABOUT THE TOPIC ABOVE.... Easy on Shade #jaiyeorie

Legalize Abortion, Women Council Begs FG

The National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) has appealed to the Federal Government to remove legal restrictions on abortion to ensure safe services.

Mrs Gloria Shoda, President of NCWS, made the call at a one day sensitisation workshop for women on ‘Unsafe Abortion’ organised in collaboration with IPAS as part of activities to mark the 2018 International Women’s Day in Abuja.

Shoda attributed the failure to reduce the high rate of death from unsafe abortion in Nigeria to lack of access to safe abortion. She said that there have been an increasing number of abortion cases throughout the world. The president said the situation had been fuelled by social and economic vices, adding that unsafe abortion accounted for over 70,000 deaths annually worldwide, Nigeria inclusive.

Shoda said that where enabling laws are available, deaths and disabilities from abortion are greatly reduced. She said most times services are expensive and facilities are often poorly equipped in terms of manpower and materials necessary to handle abortion emergencies.

She urged women to embrace the use of contraceptives to reduce the incidences of unwanted pregnancies, which could lead to unsafe abortion.

“We also encourage our young girls to abstain from sex until marriage,” she said.Räägi sõbrale... #AFRICA ... spill TEA ABOUT THE TOPIC ABOVE.... Easy on Shade #jaiyeorie

MFM FC Set To Compound Heartland Woes

MFM FC, based in Lagos, Sunday, at the football stadium, will try to aggravate the problem of Heartland FC Owerri by facing the match of Day 12 of the Professional Football League of Nigeria (NPFL). The two NPFL wrestlers will fight for the Sunday cracker, which can do a lot to decide their fate. The Olukoya Boys will be looking to rediscover the form that has helped their NPFL 2016/2017 season in second place, while the Millionaires de Naze will also seek to consolidate their position on the relegation waters. It will be remembered that MFM has not won in two NPFL games, home and away, after scoring a goalless draw against the Lobi Stars in the deferred Day 9 match. The team formed by Fidelis Ilechukwu then lost 1-2 against Akure's Sunshine FC in Game 10, ending the fourth defeat of the NPFL this season. On the other hand, Heartland FC's return to the NPFL was not impressive after the demotion of the lower league, which only spent one season. The Owerri-based club have not yet given the spark they need with their comeback by losing two home games so far with the 0-1 loss to Lobi Stars in the match of day 11.
The Obinna Nwoke-tutored team was unable to turn things around with 10 men Lobi Stars succumbing to Samaad Kadri first half strike which left their fans dispassionate.
MFM FC and Heartland FC are tied on 13 points; while Heartland is placed 13th on the NPFL log, MFM occupies the 16th position with a game to spare.
On MFM current form, Chukwuma Onuwa said that there was nothing to worry about, adding that the team would find its rhythm as the league goes on.
“Its too early to be talking about our form in the season. We have more games to play and more fixtures to prosecute, so things might change.
“We need to adapt to the present packed schedules, flights for the continental campaigns and other commitments. So, as the league goes on we will find our rhythm.
“We are committed to doing well in the league and the continent but we don’t think we value one over the other; we just want to play our games.
“Our game against Heartland will improve; we expect nothing but a three points in the match, no bargain over that,’’ he said.Räägi sõbrale... #AFRICA ... spill TEA ABOUT THE TOPIC ABOVE.... Easy on Shade #jaiyeorie

Stop Dancing & Make Meaningful Contributions To National Issues, Group Blasts Adeleke

A socio-political group, Movement for New Nigeria, said that Osun West's senator, Ademola Adeleke, takes the dignity of a legislature for granted with her penchant for dancing to the sound of music at every opportunity.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator Sunday Kilani, the group chided  Adeleke for ‘dancing’ instead of making meaningful contributions to national issues.

The group said the Senator’s routine dance steps are no longer eye-catching.

“The routine dance of the Senator representing Osun West senatorial district is becoming a big embarrassment for people of his constituency and Nigerians as a whole.

“The place of legislature in a democracy is too important and serious for any of its member to resort to a mere entertainer and official dancer.

“This attitude of the lawmaker is highly unbecoming of a man with that political stature, this must stop as a matter of importance and exigency.

The group also warned the Senator that “there is a limit to how a politician could go to impress the people outside the specified statutory obligation through performance; the earlier the senator knows that his dancing step is no more catching the fancy of anyone the better for him." TOO SOON : Sahara Reporters Publisher Omoyele Sowore says he’s Running for President in 2019

Sahara Reporters Publisher Sowore says he's Running for President in 2019 - BellaNaija

The publisher of news website Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has revealed that he intends to run for president in 2019.
In an interview on the website, Sowore explains how he intends to defeat incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking on why he believes Buhari should not be reelected, Sowore said:
Just a little over a week ago – over 100 young girls were taken by Boko Haram in Dapchi. Buhari’s appeal was supposed to be a tough stance against corruption and an ability to address the security crises posed by Boko Haram. No single major victory has been notched in the anti-corruption fight. Boko Haram is still alive and kicking. And the president’s inaction and lack of leadership are causing the herdsmen-farmers conflicts to take on an even more dangerous dimension. The Nigerian state is in shambles.
When asked what his plans for Nigeria are, Sowore listed three issues that included fighting corruption and ridding the civil service of favouritism and nepotism. He said:
Nigeria struggles because past presidents have had three major issues.
Firstly, there is an abject absence of a clear vision as to where the country should be headed. Where should Nigeria be in the next five, 10 or even 50 years? Where are the national plans that map out the country’s vision and the paths to their actualization aside from the propaganda we see on NTA? Today, we are impressed by China’s sustained growth, but since 1953 China has produced a series of 5-year plans that has guided their growth. Now they are on their 13th five-year plan (2016-2020). With that China became the most powerful and prosperous nation on earth using its populace as its best resource. China solved its housing crisis and even now boast of unoccupied apartments in “ghost cities” built in the last 10 years. China built one of the fastest rail services with an amount of money equivalent to the sums stolen during the oil imports scam. Same goes for the UAE. Dubai was built into the architectural marvel that is now a magnet to Nigeria’s thieving elites. I will be instituting a series of four-year plans to overlap with Nigeria’s political tenure system that will chart our path to growth and progress.
Secondly, even where a clear vision might exist, nepotism, tribalism, and favoritism has robbed us of the service of our best people. I am a completely detribalized Nigerian. My antecedents are that of an activist that has worked to build alliances and networks across this nation over the last 30 years.
I understand first hand the value of having competent and capable people in the right positions. I’ve created a world-class media company in the last 12 years and taught in a private college for eight years helping to mold some of America’s greatest minds.
Thirdly, corruption has crippled us as a nation. Where past presidents have been slow in tackling this issue and sometimes even complicit through their actions or inactions in promoting corruption, I will be decisive in dealing with this cancer that has ravaged the Nigerian nation.
Sowore said he’s in talks with some political parties, as he plans to launch on the platform of a coalition of several parties.

NRC Confirms Miscreants Attack On Abuja-Kaduna Train

The Nigerian Railway Company (NRC) has confirmed that some unbelievers pulled stones on the Abuja-Kaduna train on Tuesday. The company, however, denied the story that the train was attacked by thieves.
Mr Yakub Mahmood, the Deputy Director, Public Relations of NRC, said there was no gunmen attack on the train, “but an act of stoning by miscreants’’.
“There was an incidence of miscreants along Abuja-Kaduna railway corridor who engaged in an unwholesome act of stoning our passengers’ trains, as against the unsubstantiated and purported media report of attack by gunmen.
“The does not constitute security threat to the operation of the train service. It is a deliberate attempt by unpatriotic individuals to damage federal government’s asset and property.
“These properties are provided to alleviate the transportation problems of Nigerians, besides being a source of employment to the people residing in the environment. “
He assured passengers on Abuja-Kaduna train services that their security and safety would not be compromised.
He appealed to the youths, parents, guardians and especially the traditional rulers along Abuja-Kaduna railway corridor to assist in enlightening their subjects to desist from stoning moving trains.
The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has denied the reports that robbers attack train on Tuesday at Rigasa.
Amaechi told newsmen in Abuja on Friday that there were security personnel on board and it was impossible to rob the train.
“I saw one fake news story that robbers attack the Abuja-Kaduna rail line. This is not correct. Nigerians on their own fabricates stories.Räägi sõbrale... #AFRICA ... spill TEA ABOUT THE TOPIC ABOVE.... Easy on Shade #jaiyeorie

Women Day's: Pass Equal Opportunities Bill, Says Labour Group

The United Labour Congress (ULC) has urged the National Assembly to revisit the Gender Equal Opportunities (GEO) bill that was rejected. NLC president Comrade Joe Ajaero, while speaking at an event to mark this year’s International Women Day yesterday, said all acts of discrimination against women must end.

ULC wants all forms of child marriages to be outlawed and criminalised, adding that maternal mortality and violence against women must be tackled decisively.

“Laws must, therefore, be made that not only protect women and outlaw discrimination based on gender but also penalises it. All laws that encourage child brides must be abrogated and the act actively criminalised,” Ajaero said.

According to him, behaviours or policies that subtly deny women unfettered participation in national life were not only unpatriotic but must be held in contempt by all men of conscience.

“That is why we view the action of the National Assembly that hurriedly threw away the Gender Equal Opportunities(GEO) bill seeking the empowerment and protection of women last year with ignominy as not only unpatriotic but a disdain to our quest to shake off the shackles of underdevelopment keeping us marooned in the cesspit of poverty and deprivation. The GEO Bill must be resurrected and fast tracked through the legislative processes to become law,” Ajaero said. Räägi sõbrale... #AFRICA ... spill TEA ABOUT THE TOPIC ABOVE....
