So I’m like hmm. Okay, the business hat comes on. ‘You’re about to graduate with a master’s in acting, You’ve dabbled a bit in acting in the industry in New York and a lot of the auditions, the girls look like me, I look like a lot of the girls’. So what exactly is gonna put me outside of the box of African-American, black. Like what’s setting me apart. So I said to myself, ‘Okay, I need money for tuition and having this title will actually help my career’, which it has, Thank God. That was really the premise for doing miss black USA and at the end of the day, I was the first Nigerian-American to be crown Miss Black USA. On her debut as a producer with REDTV’s web series “Assistant Madams: Dark Hearts”: It was a great set, a great experience. I see that my love is in front of the camera. On playing Amara is “Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story”: Amara is an evil girl. She has accents. All of that, most of what I don’t have naturally. He (Charles Okpaleke) pushed for me to play this role, and it really stretched me in a way I never thought could happen. I’m really grateful that I’m able to hone my craft and people are appreciative of that so I really, really appreciated “Rattlesnake” and love how everyone is so receptive to the film. Toyin Abraham, broke down in tears as ‘Oniduro’ singer, Adeyinka Alaseyori, made a surprise birthday appearance at the actress’s home.
The singer took to her Instagram page to share a live video of herself singing at Abraham’s residence.
As the actress is set to celebrate her birthday on Sunday, Alaseyori’s surprise visit to the celebrant’s home on Saturday ushered in a pre-birthday celebration.
Surprised Abraham looked on as the singer sang worship songs while calling her name.

All assets and funds to the tune of N19.1B belonging to Francis Atuche, the convicted former Managing Director of the defunct Bank PHB Plc have been frozen by a Lagos High Court.
Justice Lateefat Okunnu gave the order on Tuesday, following an ex parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on August 17, 2021.
The funds, investigation showed, were domiciled in 24 different banks in Nigeria, including Citi Bank Limited; Ecobank Nigeria Limited; First Bank of Nigeria Plc; First City Monument Bank (FCMB); Globus Bank Limited; Fidelity Bank Plc; Keystone Bank Limited; Lotus Bank Limited and Mainstreet Bank Plc.

American Ninja Warrior commentator Akbar Gbajabiamila will fill one of The Talk‘s vacant chairs, having been named a permanent co-host for Season 12 of the CBS series.
CBS announced Thursday that Akbar Gbajabiamila will be the latest co-host of the daytime talk show, two days after Elaine Welteroth exited the series following one season. The American Ninja Warrior star and former NFL player will join current co-hosts Amanda Kloots, Sheryl Underwood and Jerry O’Connell for the upcoming 12th season.

On Friday (Sept. 3), the “Caught Up in the Rapture” singer took to Twitter to reveal the great news. “All My Children Are Coming Home,” she wrote, along with a photo of five of her albums. “Catalog. Impossible Things Happen…Every. Single. Day. Gratefully.” A fan retweeted her and asked, “ARE WE IN THE CLEAR?!?!?” to which Baker replied, “Yes. Chil’ren….STREAM. ON. ABXO.”
A REVOLT reported, the legendary singer asked her fans not to stream or buy her music because she did not make any money from it. “Miraculously… I have out-lived ALL, of my Artist Contracts,” the Rhythm of Love songstress tweeted back in March. “They no longer ‘Own’ My Name & Likeness. And, by Law…30-year-old masters are to be returned to Me. Unfortunately, they’re gonna make me Fight 4 it. I’m Prepared 2 do that. Please Don’t advertise/buy them. ABXO.”
After a fan said that they would dedicate a Spotify playlist to Baker, she told the person not to advertise the streaming company because it “doesn’t pay artists/creators what they’re worth.”
Baker then gave fans a lesson on how the music industry really works by breaking down what each artist actually makes from streaming. “2020 Streaming rate: $0.003 – $0.005, [which is] 1/3 – 1/2 A PENNY Per Stream for Artists minus… *fees *taxes *ect. ect. They need to leave me alone fr,” she tweeted.
Many artists have acquired their masters from record labels. Last month, 21 Savage revealed that owning his masters actually made him more money than touring. The 28-year-old said he learned from all of the older rappers “who fucked up” and “ain’t do it the right way.”

While flashing back at memories of Toke Makinwa in a recent chat with Chude Jideonwo narrates the good old days when Wizkid used to work extra hard to have his songs played on the radio where she worked.
“You don’t know the years Wizkid put into becoming who he is today. Young newbies try music for a year or two and are frustrated because it is not working…dude, when I tell people.
I was at Rhythm and Wizkid used to carry speakers and he will be sent by DJs to buy Amala and he will do it, he was the studio rat, just help me play my song he will say. People look at him now and say he is arrogant not knowing the work he had put into this journey.”
Speaking further, she said “it is the same way people can look at me now and say I got it all easy but if you have been following my career, and seeing the hardwork I put in, you should ask me what I am doing with my life if by now I am not enjoying all I am enjoying now from my hard work,” she wrote.

Drake’s new album titled: “Certified Lover Boy” was released on Friday, 3rd September, 2021 internationally.
The 21-track album features well-known artistes such as Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Young Thug, Future, 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Kid Cudi, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Baby, and Tems.
Meanwhile, Tems was featured on track 16 of the album titled ‘Fountain’.

The Director-General of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has been appointed as the World Health Organization‘s (WHO) Assistant Director-General in charge of Health Emergency Intelligence in Berlin and as the head of the pandemic and epidemic intelligence hub in Germany.
He will take on the new position on November 1, 2021.
President Buhari appointed him as the head of the NCDC in August 2016. As Director-General, Ihekweazu has guided the agency through a time of transformation. He has directed the response to significant outbreaks of viral diseases, as well as the re-emergence of monkeypox and yellow fever, and has been at the vanguard of Nigeria’s COVID-19 response and management.

Top Ivory Coast television presenter, Yves de M’Bella, has received a
12-month suspended sentence for promoting rape during a live broadcast.
During the controversial live show on Monday, August 30 , M’Bella had invited a man described as an ex-rapist to demonstrate on a mannequin how he had assaulted women.
The segment of the programme, broadcast at primetime on a private TV channel, NCI was supposed to be about condemning sexual assault
But M’Bella appeared to laugh and joke as he helped Traoré lay the mannequin on the floor. Afterwards the guest was invited to give women advice on how to avoid being raped.
An online petition demanding that M’Bella be punished had got nearly 50,000 signatures by Wednesday evening, September 1.
Following the widespread criticism of the live broadcast, he was suspended from TV and radio whike Women’s Affairs Minister Nassénéba Touré said hus broadcast had undermined efforts to eradicate rape in the country.

In March,Kunle Afolayan announced his partnership with Netflix to produce and premiere 3 new diverse films: a historical drama, a folklore fantasy and a character drama.
The first film from Kunle Afolayan’s multi-title Netflix slate is a film adaptation of Nigerian-American novelist and screenwriter, Seffi Atta’s third novel, “Swallow” which tells the story of a naive secretary who, after a series of career failures, considers her roommate’s offer to work as a drug mule in mid-1980s Lagos, according to Nexflix.
The drama-thriller explores the burgeoning drug trafficking trade, set against a backdrop of 1980s Lagos, struggling under the weight of austerity measures and the infamous War Against Indiscipline.
In “Swallow“, music sensation Eniola ‘Niyola’ Akinbo makes her feature film debut as she plays the lead role of Tolani Ajao – a bright-eyed young woman who tries to make it in the obstacle-ridden Lagos.
The retro-themed film that pays homage to a nostalgic past also features a stellar cast including Ijeoma Grace Agu (as Rose), Deyemi Okanlanwon (as Sanwo), Eniola Badmus (as Mrs Durojaiye), Chioma Akpotha (as Mama Chidi), Kevin Ikeduba (as OC), Offiong Anthony Edet (as Johnny) and veteran Olusegun Remi (as Mr Salako).
Director Kunle Afolayan describes how he proposed the making of “Swallow” saying, “This is the very first book I am making into a movie. Once I read the book, I had to decide on what aspect of the book I wanted to focus on and whose perspective I wanted to share based on the story, because Swallow as a book focused on the life of Tolani’s mother and Tolani herself. Once that was sorted every other thing was put in place.”

Henry, the host of radio show Leah’s Lemonade. “It’s crazy to me, like, I’m No. 1. I’m the star. I’m this blue-black, you know, all of the things that I was laughed about in the ‘hood.”
The rapper-turned-actor added, “And then you look at Lupita [Nyong’o] and the Viola Davises of the world, and there is this kind of, this shift that has happened. I think we should all stay humble because it’s interesting how white people created this kind of colorism. The mixed-race gets to be in the house and the black blacks get to work in the hot sun and pick cotton.”

Rose McGowan is calling out Oprah Winfrey, accusing the mogul of faking her support of the #MeToo movement.

“I am glad more are seeing the ugly truth of @Oprah,” the “Charmed” alum, 47, tweeted Sunday along with an old photo of the talk show host, now 67, smiling alongside convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein. “I wish she were real, but she isn’t.”
McGowan, an outspoken survivor of sexual assault, continued, “From being pals with Weinstein to abandoning & destroying Russell Simmon’s [sic] victims, she is about supporting a sick power structure for personal gain, she is as fake as they come. #lizard.”
Weinstein’s long list of alleged sexual assaults dating back to the 1970s was the catalyst for the #MeToo movement in October 2017, with McGowan being one of the first of dozens of women to accuse him of rape.

Actor IK Ogbonna has slammed a troll on Instagram who mocked his best friend and colleague, Alex Ekubo over his broken engagement.
Alex Ekubo got engaged to his girlfriend and was set to get married by November 2021.
Unfortunately, the duo unfollowed each other via Instagram which was also accompanied by a cryptic post made by his ex-fiancee, Fancy.
Despite this emotional setback, the Actor bagged a Ph.D. degree in Arts and Culture.
To congratulate him, IK Ogbonna took to his Instagram page to extol him for his latest achievement. But unfortunately, a troll dropped a hostile remark in the comment box. IK Ogbonna didn’t take the comment lightly as he fired back at the troll.

Nollywood actress, Toni Tones has revealed that the most challenging thing she’s done in life, is learning how to speak Yoruba in “King of Boys”.
The beautiful actress recalled her role in the blockbuster movie “King of Boys”, and said speaking Yoruba fluently was the main challenge she had at the time.
Toni Tones acted in the movie as “young Laburu” and had to exclusively speak in Yoruba as a young Oba.
Her revelation came after a fan of “King of Boys”, tweeted on the actress’ role in the movie on social micro-blogging platform Twitter, and Toni Tones replied under the tweet … saying it was her biggest challenge to date.

#jaiyeorie During the most recent episode of her E! reality series, “We Got Love Teyana & Iman,” the R&B singer reveals that she underwent emergency surgery after discovering several lumps in her breasts while she was in Miami to shoot an ad campaign. “It was a lot of lumps, which is really bad,” said the 30-year-old. Her doctor performed a biopsy on her “dense” breast tissue and thankfully, the results came back fine. But it was still enough to make her nervous as cancer runs in her family. “I just want this to be the last time I go through this,” she said. “Cancer runs through my family, so it’s a scary thing both for me and Iman.” After undergoing the “complicated” procedure on her chest and her under-arms, she was instructed to wait at least six weeks before lifting her two daughters, Junie, 5, and Rue, 11 months. She told her husband, Iman Shumpert, to take their kids to his family in Chicago while she awaited the outcome. “It’s tough,” she said. “I’m definitely overwhelmed because I miss my kids so much, I miss Iman so much.” In the episode, Teyana also revealed that she suffers from Cholestasis, a liver condition that makes her pregnancies high risk. Both her children were delivered a month early out of concern they would be stillborn.
