 Jussie Smollett,35 has issued a statement for the first time since news broke of his assault.
The Empire TV star issued a statement to Essence , saying:

Let me start by saying that I’m OK. My body is strong but my soul is stronger. More importantly, I want to say thank you. The outpouring of love and support from my village has meant more than I will ever be able to truly put into words.
I am working with authorities and have been 100% factual and consistent on every level. Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served. As my family stated, these types of cowardly attacks are happening to my sisters, brothers and non-gender conforming siblings daily. I am not and should not be looked upon as an isolated incident. We will talk soon and I will address all the details of this horrific incident, but I need a moment to process.

 The 48-year-old iconic rapper announced his 20th Anniversary Tour on Thursday (Jan 31).

Swizz Beatz took to social media after a telephone call with X and wrote:

I just got off the phone with my brother DMX!

The 'Fiji Water Girl' is securing the bag in 2019, who she photobombed most celebrities' red carpet photos at the Golden Globes, has sued Fiji water for using her photo on cardboard cutouts without seeking her permission.

Kelleth Cuthbert nabbed attention got at the Golden Globes and even got a TV role out of it. But she is suing Fiji for using a picture of her in a cardboard cutout campaign, placed at shops in the US, which she claims was launched without her permission.

Kelleth is claiming she never signed a deal allowing Fiji to use her image on the standees.

The  president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), has become the first African to win the $1m Sunhak Peace Prize.


Akinwumi Adesina clinched the prize alongside Waris Dirie, a 53-year-old world-class supermodel and anti-FGM activist, from Somali.

The 2019 Sunhak Peace Prize gives special attention to peace and human development in Africa and also honors individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the peace and the welfare of the future generations. The Sunhak Peace Prize includes a cash prize totaling $1 million .




The Sunhak Peace Prize committee acknowledged Adesina’s achievements in promoting good governance, which boosts Africa’s capacity to feed itself and transform its total economies for generating wealth for millions of rural and poor African farmers. Akinwumi Adesina has been a leader in agricultural innovation in Africa for over 30 years, bringing great improvement to Africa’s food security, contributing to Africa’s dynamic growth.

Mark Zuckerberg reveals plans to integrate Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.

Mark Zuckerberg, chief executive officer of Facebook Incorporated, has revealed plans to integrate Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger. According to Sandberg, the social media platform is investing billions of dollars a year to improve the security of its network

According to Zuckerberg, the idea of integration is to make the three services more useful and increase the amount of time people spend on these platforms.
“We want to build the best messaging experiences we can; and people want messaging to be fast, simple, reliable and private,” Facebook explained in a new statement.
“We’re working on making more of our messaging products end-to-end encrypted and considering ways to make it easier to reach friends and family across networks.”
New York Times reports that the process of merging the three social media platforms has already begun and is to be completed by late 2019 or early 2020.
After the changes, end-to-end encryption will be incorporated on all the platforms.
Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook Inc’s operations chief, had said that the platform needed to win back public trust after facing scandals for violating its users’ privacy.
“We did not anticipate all of the risks from connecting so many people,” Sandberg said on Wednesday.

Kannywood endorses Atiku Abubakar for president

 Kannywood has endorsed the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Atiku, for the February 16 presidential election. Kannywood said it supported the presidential ambition of the PDP candidate because the country needed an energetic leader like Atiku.
One of the leaders of Kannywood, Yakubu Mohammed, who said he spoke for Kannywood at an interactive session in Kaduna, said the industry was suffering from poor quality films because of bad economy as a result of bad leadership. We still remember how former President Goodluck Jonathan encouraged the film and entertainment industry financially to the tune of N200m. We are appealing to Atiku to support us if he comes to power; so our support is for Atiku. We will vote and massively canvass support for Atiku,” he said.

Davido, Mai Atafo, to speak at Harvard’s Africa business conference

    

 Davido will be joining fashion designers, Mai Atafo, Ugo Mozie and Sony Music’s Michael Ugwu as speakers at Harvard’s Africa Business Conference scheduled to hold between February 15 to 19 in Boston Massachusetts.

Davido and Ugwu, alongside UK entertainer Juls and Abdul Karim Abdullah, will be on the same panel to speak about the growth of music business in Africa at the conference which has as theme, ‘Africa Forward: Forging New Alliances for the Future’, the 2019 conference. They will discuss the international interest in the continent’s creative sector, the economic attractiveness of African music business, distribution strategies of record labels, income generation sources and the role of regulators, distributors and consumers in the industry.
Mai Atafo and Ugo Mozie are penciled down for a session on the global adoption of African fashion. The fashion designers will speak on how African fashion is taking off on a global scale and the roles African entrepreneurs play as the industry moves forward. Diarra Gueye, CEO Diarrablu and Dakar Boutique, will join them on the panel.

Man arrested for faking a fall at work for insurance money

        

Police have arrested a New Jersey man for faking a fall at work to get insurance money.
Authorities say surveillance video captured the man grabbing ice and throwing it on the floor before lying down.
They say the man waited until he was discovered, and then he filed an insurance claim for hospital treatment.
Prosecutors say the 57-year-old Randolph man was subcontracted to work at a company in Woodbridge when he faked the fall in 2018.
