Just before the Queen's passing was announced, a touching double rainbow formed over Buckingham Palace.

Following a palace update that stated the 96-year-old was being watched due to "concerns" for her health, all eyes have been directed toward Her Majesty's residence at Balmoral, which is just north of the border.

In central London, crowds gathered as well in anticipation of new information regarding the status of our longest-reigning monarch.

The Palace reported that the Queen had "died peacefully at Balmoral" at 6:30 p.m.

Many of those who had congregated outside the gates believed the occurrence, which happened after gloomy skies and rain gave way to brief periods of sunshine, was a portent of forthcoming good news.

After 70 years on the reign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away, with her

death announced by Buckingham Palace on September 8, 2022.

She died at the age of 96 at her home in Balmoral, with her son, the now King Charles, and daughter Princess Anne by her side.

The flag at Buckingham Palace was lowered to half mast as the news broke at 6.30pm. A number of those huddled outside the gates began crying and taking pictures as a single helicopter circled the skies above.
