Trial of alleged killer Of Akwa Ibom jobseeker, Iniubong Umoren, begins on Monday, July 26

The trial of Uduak Frank Akpan, the alleged killer of job seeker Akwa Ibom, Iniubong Ephraim Umoren, will begin in Akwa Ibom court in Hogh 6 state in Uyou, the state capital, on Monday, July 26th. According to a statement issued by the state justice ministry's Akwa Ibom media unit, signed by ministry information officer Effiong Edet, state prosecutor and justice commissioner Uko Essien Udom (SAN) is said to be the team's main lead defense attorney. Iniubong Umoren, a final year student at Oyo University’s Philosophy Department in Orukanam State, set out in search of work to keep body and soul together just to keep the police informed of her family, who responded quickly to a friend’s complaint that she was horribly killed by the accused Uduak Akpan.

The statement added that the police investigating team had exhumed the deceased’s remains, which was buried in a shallow grave, showing her mouth gagged and the neck strangulated and squeezed, eyeballs bulging and tongue popping out, all allegedly pointing irresistibly to one direction, murder. The statement disclosed that the police had since concluded investigations and sent the case file to the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP), which could not swing into action immediately because of the recently suspended industrial action embarked upon by Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
