American actress KiKi Layne is revelling in the success of the Netflix hit movie The Old Guard. And coming off that role, Layne has landed the part of Eddie Murphy’s daughter in the sequel to Coming 2 America.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, and KiKi Layne have joined the upcoming sequel. Layne will play the Princess Meeka of Zamunda, the daughter of Eddie Murphy’s Prince Akeem and Lucy.

Speaking on the casting, Layne said: “Oh my goodness, Meeka, she is a powerful woman! So, I’m Prince Akeem’s and Lisa’s eldest daughter and let’s just say I am therefore the rightful heir to the throne of Zamunda.”
She then confessed that it was overwhelming. “Honestly, it still hasn’t hit me yet. I’m gonna have to actually see the film and then I think it’s going to hit me like: “Girl, you are Eddie Murphy’s daughter”, Layne said.
The original film saw Murphy play Prince Akeem, a spoiled prince from the fictional African nation of Zamunda, who arrives in Queens, New York, and in undercover fashion gets a job at a McDonald’s knockoff while trying to find a wife.

The new story sees Akeem, now set to become king, discovering he has a son he never knew about, a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. Honouring his father’s dying wish to groom his son as a newly crowned prince, Akeem must once again return to America.
Murphy is producing the pic, which is dropping on December 18, 2020, along with Kevin Misher and Kenya Barris.

Since her breakthrough in Beale Street, Layne appeared in the sci-fi thriller Captive State and is shooting a leading role opposite Charlize Theron in The Old Guard, the adaptation of a Greg Rucka comic book from Skydance and Netflix.   📎 The key is : Learn how to BE HAPPY BY YOURSELF FIRST.
