El-Rufai responds to the death of a trustee who oversaw a test that leads to the SACK of a teacher

Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed shock over the death of Jonathan Nok, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, who died in the early hours of Tuesday in Kaduna.

Although the details of his death are still sketchy, the source at Kaduni Vladi said that the commissioner died after a short illness.  One state official said the disease had been diseased several weeks ago, hospitalized and fired last week after he recovered and had to resume work on Monday before abruptly released.  Mr. Nok, a professor, was a top official who oversaw a controversial test that leads to the bag of over 21,000 elementary school teachers in the state of Kaduna. He expressed disappointment because of the teacher's performance in ability testing.  The teacher's cup provoked fierce debate among the Nigerians and led to the Nigerian Work Congress that last week threatened to lock Kaduna in protest.  While describing Mr. Noka as one of the best in the country he produced and one of the most respected persons who served the State of Kaduna, Mr. El-Rufai said that "a man of intellect, ability, and deep conviction who will be painfully missed."  "The staff cabinet, a man who was known to be a capable administrator, capable of doing things and devoted to the state's progress. "Professor Nok was one of the best that this country produced and was one of the most respected people who served the state of Kaduna. It was persistent, rigorous and very successful in implementing our health and education improvement project in the country It will be very wrong for him" said the governor.  Mr. El-Rufai led members of the State Executive Council to visit and sympathize with the Nok family.
