Beyonce is giving us a behind-the-scenes look at her 2015 GRAMMY performance of “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”.
Ledisi didn’t perform the track, since she sings the song in the film. But apparently, Bey approached John Legend about doing an intro for their performance, and “Precious Lord” was the song she chose.
In a new behind-the-scenes video, Beyonce reveals why she decided to sing “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” and the significance off the all-black male choir. In an effort to bring issues of the black community to mainstream American (following the police killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner), Mrs. Carter handpicked a group of African-American men as her background vocals as an opportunity to “show the strength and vulnerability in black men”.
