Trinidadian American Hip Hop sensation Nicki Minaj is currently facing a lawsuit over allegations of unpaid bills for custom jewelry. West Hollywood jeweler, Roseark Jewelry store, has taken legal action against the “Moment For Life” rapper, claiming that she not only failed to settle her outstanding balance but also damaged jewelry that was loaned to her. 

 

 According to court documents, Nicki’s stylist, Brett Alan Nelson, had signed a contract with Roseark Jewelry Store, outlining an agreement to borrow jewelry for a public appearance.

 

 The terms of the contract specified that the borrowed pieces were to be returned within a week and that any damages incurred during the loan period would be the responsibility of Brett. The lawsuit alleges that Brett failed to meet the agreed-upon deadline and only returned 66 pieces of jewelry after the allotted time. Furthermore, upon inspection, Roseark Jewelry store discovered noticeable damage to a set of earrings and a leaf ring, both of which were part of the borrowed collection.

 

 Nicki Minaj dragged to court for ‘damaging borrowed jewelry’ Nicki Minaj’s defense attorney has responded by stating that the music star should not be held accountable for the damages. The attorney asserts that the jeweler is merely using Nicki to generate publicity for their store. Additionally, a source close to Nicki told TMZ that all the borrowed jewelry was returned on time as promised. Thee source further claimed that it was only after the items had been in the possession of the jeweler for some time that they complained about a missing stone. 

 

 As the legal battle unfolds, both parties involved will have the opportunity to present their respective evidence and arguments in court. Nicki Minaj, known for her chart-topping hits and vibrant style, has yet to make an official statement regarding the lawsuit. The candidate of Labour party in the 2023 governorship election in Lagos state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has reacted to reports that the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, and members of the state parliament plan to pass laws that will protect the interest of indigenes of the state.Dailytrust reported that Obasa, who was elected speaker of the 10th Assembly for the third consecutive term on Tuesday, June 6, said as part of its legislative agenda, there would be laws and resolutions in the areas of economy and commerce, property and titles and reversal of “all that are reversible to protect the interest of the indigenes”. In an apparent reaction to some of the controversies in the build-up to the 2023 elections including the argument that non-indigenes wanted to take over the state, Obasa declared that Lagos is a Yoruba land. In a statement released, Rhodes-Vivour condemned the plans by the state house of Assembly to enact laws to reverse property rights in favour of indigenes of the state. The politician argued that the law should not be considered as it will not undermine the fundamental rights of Nigerians but also pose a significant threat to the principle of inclusivity and social cohesion taht Nigeria stands for.  The announcement of Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye as the winner of the recently held Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award's category for "Best Actress in a Comedy/TV Series" has divided fans.

To win the prize in the category, Ademoye bested Mercy Johnson, Funke Akindele, and other contenders.

The actress was nominated for the award due to her performance in "Selina." Additionally nominated for their performances in "Battle on Buga Street" were Akindele and Johnson.

However, social media users shared their thoughts on the results of the category nominations.

While some people felt that Mercy Johnson, who was also nominated in the category for her work in "Passport," should have won, others particularly pointed out that she didn't.

Kim Kardashian has revealed she is seeing a new mystery man and he checks all her boxes but she isn’t ready to show him to the world yet.

During the Thursday,  June 8 episode of the “Kardashians,” the Skims founder opened up about the difficulty of dating in the public eye while out to lunch with Scott Disick. 

“So, I haven’t really seen you out on any dates or anything,” Disick, 40, said to Kardashian.

“Well, it’s just hard because what do those first dates look like?” she replied.

“Behind doors, can’t go out. It’s kind of awkward.”

“Here’s the thing, if you are seen with someone, then if it’s starting to not work out, you almost have to try to make it work a little longer because you’re so embarrassed that it was so quick,” she continued. 

She explained that throughout her fling with Pete Davidson, people made it seem like “a very serious relationship” when in reality, she was just trying to have a good time.

Femi Gbajabiamila, the outgoing speaker of the house of representatives, says many young Nigerians have lost faith in the country.

Gbajabiamila spoke on Wednesday at the valedictory session of the ninth house of representatives.

He said the country is losing some of its “best and brightest” brains to other countries, adding that urgent action must be taken to avert a “painful consequence”.

Gbajabiamila said despite the “considerable investments we have made to improve our public infrastructure and the numerous reforms we have enacted to change how we administer the government”, the country still faces many “significant challenges”

He said the challenges have caused many young Nigerians to “wonder if the promise of democracy will ever become real in their lives”.

Too many of our young people have lost faith entirely and are choosing in droves to seek their fortunes and their futures in other lands.

We are losing some of our best and brightest, and if we don’t act now, the consequences of this loss will shortly become painfully evident.

He said the government must ensure that the economy is “healthy, vigorous, growing“ and that all Nigerians will have equal opportunities to succeed through their labour, hard work and ingenuity.

Gbajabiamila further said the citizens must be protected from marauders, insurgents, petty criminals and assorted villains who wish to harm them.

He also said the government need to “restore faith in our young people so that so many of them no longer feel like the only way to achieve their best aspirations is to chase their fortunes in far away, often hostile lands”.

“With each new day, we have an opportunity to make the hard choices and take the necessary actions to guarantee our nation’s future. With each new day, we have less time to act and a more outstanding obligation to act quickly,” he added.
