Yoruba will react when pushed to the wall- Gani Adams

Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland and leader of Oodua Peoples Congress said Yoruba will react to the spate of killings in the South West when pushed to the wall.
He reacted to the killing on Friday of Funke Olakunrin, the daughter of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere. Adams condoled with Pa Fasoranti and hoped that justice will be done.

“We are like the proverbial goat that it being chased”, Adams said in a statement circulated by his media assistant, Kehinde Aderemi.

“When it gets to the wall, it will certainly react. We are at that stage now,” Adams said.

The State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that the mode of toll collection at the bridge would completely go electronic by October this year, saying that the development was part of efforts to ensure free flow of traffic within the axis.
The Governor  declared the use of toll plazas at both Lekki-Epe Expressway and Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge free of charge on Thursday July 11 from 6:30am to 9:30 am, and in the evening from 4:30pm to 8pm, also in a bid to tackle the gridlock in the corridor.
A resident of the axis, Mrs Bimbo Fatoki said the development was a well-appreciated one, saying the free access at the toll plazas hugely reduced travel time.
“This is a welcome development and everyone is happy; kids did not get to school late this because the road was free and I want to say that more of this development will be welcomed,” Fatoki said.

An Ikeja special Offences Court yesterday remanded the proprietor of a ‘Yahoo-Yahoo’ training school in Lagos, Chinedu Frank, in prison custody.

He is facing a seven-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence and possession of fraudulent documents brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC).

Oyo Govt. Recovers 14 Vehicles From Ajimobi’s Aides

 

DAILY POST recalls that Governor Seyi Makinde of the state, through hisa Chief of Staff, Mr. Bisi Ilak, had earlier in June, raised the alarm that many vehicles belonging to the state government have been taken away by the former Governor and his aides.

Makinde, few days after raising the alarm, issued two-day ultimatum to the aides of the former Governor to return the government’s property.

DAILY POST, however, gathered on Thursday, that no fewer than fourteen vehicles have been retuned to the state government by those who served Ajimobi in the last administration.

 Ekiti State First Lady, has said it is discriminatory to expel pregnant schoolgirls from school while allowing the boys who impregnated them to continue their education.
Mrs. Fayemi said this Thursday during a meeting in Ado-Ekiti with wives of Coordinating Directors and Community Development Officers of the 16 Local Government Councils in the state. She pointed out that all girls, regardless of their status, have a right to education.
The Ekiti State First Lady acknowledged that pregnant girls face various forms of punishments, including discriminatory practices that deny them their right to education.
She went on to reveal that the state government is ready to implement relevant laws, including the Child Rights Act, Gender Equality and other laws to protect the interest of children.

The French Parliament adopted, by a final vote of the Senate, the introduction of a tax on `GAFA’, making France one of the first countries to impose a tax on digital giants.

Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Acquires New Amphibious Excavator To Tackle Flooding In Ondo

  

The Governor explained that flooding often lead to loss of lives and properties and also stalls movement during the rainy season, with high incidence in Akure, Owo, Ondo, Ikare, Ore, Igbokoda, Okitipupa and other urban centers, all with dire implications on the socio – economic activities of the people.
As part of its efforts to combat the perennial flooding problems various parts of Ondo State, the State Government, under the administration of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has acquired the brand new latest model of Amphibious Excavator (CAT 320D2).
Governor Akeredolu said the Amphibious Excavator is required in the state for dredging and clearing of waterways, as well as for temporary channelisation in the state.
