Supreme Court Fixes Date to resume Extradition Suit against Kashamu

The Supreme Court, Friday fixed June 10, to resume hearing in an appeal filed by Senator Buruji Kashamu to stop the federal government from extraditing him over alleged drug trafficking.
It would be recalled that the lawmaker was billed to be extradited to the United States of America (USA) following two appeal judgements in favour of the Federal government.
Respondents in the suit by Kashamu are the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The fresh hearing date has been communicated through issuance of hearing notices to the three parties involved in the legal tussle.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly today Friday June 7th, passed into law the Religious preaching Regulation law 1984.

Speaker of the House, Aminu Abdullahi Shagali while reading the bill during plenary,  said a state inter-faith Regulatory council has been established with a chairman to be appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of the Secretary to the state Government.
He also said  two members representing the Christians and Muslim faith  are to be  appointed by the Governor among others respectively.

Many had expected that Abiodun, like his counterparts in Lagos, Oyo, Imo, and other states where new governors were elected would make key appointments such as Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief of Staff (COS), Chief Press Secretary (CPS), amongst others, but the governor has remained silent eight days after swearing-in, fuelling speculations that all was not well.

George Weah Shuts Down Social Media in Liberia over Protests

President George Weah of Liberia on Friday blocked the internet, in what is perceived to be a move to suppress ongoing anti-government protests in the capital city, Monrovia.

An organisation that monitors internet disruptions and shutdowns, Netblocks, confirmed the shutdown, saying access to social networking platforms Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Snapchat had been restricted in the West African nation.
‘‘The disruptions affecting ordinary operation of the social media platforms have raised concerns of a state order to restrict the Save The State protests in Liberian capital Monrovia,” NetBlocks said in its statement.

Lois Olufunke, mother of late Pius Adesanmi, and the deceased’s daughter, Iyabo Toluhi, have sued the Boeing company over the plane crash.

Boeing is the manufacturer of the ill-fated 737 MAX 8 Ethiopian Airlines aircraft that crashed in March, killing all 157 passengers and crew on board – including two Nigerians, Adesanmi, and Biodun Bashua, a former UN and African Union (AU) deputy joint special representative in Darfur, Sudan.
Premium Times reports that the suit dated June 4 was filed on behalf of the bereaved family at the US district court in Chicago where the company is based.

He was said to be in France to attend the FIFA Congress.
