DJ Obi Recounts Shocking Story of How SARS Officers Shot at His Car

  

   

DJ Obi is yet another victim of the brutality of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The Guinness world record holder  shared how some of the wildly-feared officers shot at the tyre of his car after they accosted him in Lagos.




“My fellow Nigerians, we are doomed,” he said in the Instagram note after sharing the proof of the damage done to his car after the officers allegedly shot it up. And he went further to add: “If I didn’t have to travel for work, today would have been the day I publicly burn my passport.”
He also revealed that the attack was carried out by the officers at the Maroko Station in Lagos, and he urged the government to shut down the arm of the police which many Nigerians accused of terrorising young people on the streets.


This comes just days after singer Mayorkun told his own story of a run in with the officers of SARS. “Na selfie and the least bar solve the matter but I missed my second interview still,” he shared on his Twitter.

“Welcome to America” – TIME Magazine’s New Cover Has Donald Trump & A Crying Child

 

TIME Magazine in their new issue which has President Donald Trump towering over a crying child.


The cover is a response to Trump administration’s order that separated families crossing the US-Mexico border.


The photo of the crying girl was shot by John Moore, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer for Getty Images, who has been photographing immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border for years.
On the photo of the girl, he says “This one was tough for me. As soon as it was over, they were put into a van. I had to stop and take deep breaths. All I wanted to do was pick her up. But I couldn’t.”
Making a bold statement, TIME’s editors selected John Moore’s photograph to create a photo illustration, including Trump, to make the July 2, 2018, cover of the magazine.

British physicist Stephen Hawking’s Voice to be beamed into Space in Final Tribute

The trademark computer-generated voice of the late Stephen Hawking will be broadcast out to space in a final send off for the late genius Friday.Hawking’s words have been set to a score by composer Vangelis, and will be beamed toward the nearest black hole.


Hawking, a British physicist who revolutionized the world’s understanding of black holes and the understanding the cosmos even as his paralysis confined him to a wheelchair, will be interred at Westminster Abbey following a memorial service.


He died at his home in Cambridge, England, on March 14 at the age of 76.


After readings – including from astronaut Tim Peake and actor Benedict Cumberbatch – Hawking will be laid to rest between science greats Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin in a ceremony that will be witnessed by around 1,000 members of the public.


As a final tribute, the voice that Hawking lost to a neuromuscular disease known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, or ALS, and then regained with the assistance of a computer, will be sent into space by the European Space Agency.






Hawking’s daughter Lucy told the BBC that the musical tribute represents a “beautiful and symbolic gesture that creates a link between our father’s presence on this planet, his wish to go into space and his explorations of the universe in his mind.”
“The broadcast will be beamed towards the nearest black hole, 1A 0620-00, which lives in a binary system with a fairly ordinary orange dwarf star,” she said.
