Ashanti has nabbed a star on the Hollywood Walk of Famesomething her mother, Tina Douglas, had hoped she would achieve
The Grammy Award-winning singer received the 2,718th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame just days after the 20th anniversary of her self-titled debut album.
The singer's debut album was nominated for a Grammy for best contemporary R&B album and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and R&B album charts, selling 504,593 copies in its first week.

Furthermore, her debut album set a SoundScan record for the most albums sold by a rookie female artist in the chart's history, earning her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, which she currently holds.
Her debut collection of poetry, "Foolish/Unfoolish: Reflections on Love," will be issued by Harper Collins next month.
The 41-year-old singer, who still looks like she's in her twenties, slayed the scene in a snow white pantsuit with emerald and diamond necklaces that screamed business lady.
A smooth, low ponytail completed her ensemble.
Ja Rule, Ashanti's longtime partner and former Murder Inc. label mate, and her friend/actress Tichina Arnold, as well as some of her family members, joined the singer for the celebration.
Before she was given her own star, they showered her with admiration, love, and acclaim.
“You should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for being a beautiful human being, you should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for being a beautiful human spirit,” said Tichina.
“We’ve shared so many moments together, but this one is so special. Getting a star on the Hollywood walk of fame is like the top of the top,” said Ja.
When she took the stage, Ashanti thanked everyone who had helped her along the way, especially her biggest supporter, Tina Douglas, her mother and manager.
During her first trip to L.A., the singer told a story of how her mother created her Walk of Fame star.
She claimed that when she was mixing her debut album, her mother went to a souvenir shop on the same street and bought one of the Hollywood stars with a nameplate with her name on it.

“She said you’re gonna get one of these one day,” Ashanti said as she welcomed her mother, who was crying, on stage.
