Fireboy DML Talks Upbringing And Personal Style On His Latest GQ South Africa Feature

Fireboy GQ South Africa
Adedamola Adefolahan aka Fireboy DML who is making waves with his charismatic music has landed a feature in GQ South Africa.
Making this his second major international magazine feature, the 24-year-old R&B star sat down with Ekow Barnes to discuss his passion for music, upbringing, personal style, and future plans.

See excerpts below.
What role did music and performance play in your upbringing?
“I don’t have a music background. None of my parents were musicians, but they loved music. I was fortunate enough to hear them play the likes of Celine Dion or Tope Alabi, etc. I later discovered great musicians like Elton John and James Blunt. I found my own range when I became a musician, which was shaped by Wande Coal, Jon Bellion, and Passenger.”

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Believe in yourself more. That would be the advice.  As a young artist, you need to have self-esteem. Instead of going out there to seek validation, it’s pertinent to hone on your craft and champion it. There’s nothing more rewarding than working on your sound. Instead of paying for shows, work on yourself and the right people will find you, trust me.”

📎 The key is : Learn how to BE HAPPY BY YOURSELF FIRST. Because a human being that is happy on his/her own will never settle to be miserable with someone else. When you find happiness on your own then you will be able to spread it and share it with someone else. #jaiyeorie ... CRITIC ALSO 🖋️ spill TEA ☕ Easy on Shade 💣
