Mampintsha’s management to sue iTunes over music boycott

Mampintsha’s management intends to file a R10 million lawsuit against Apple Music/iTunes after the star’s music was allegedly “removed” from the platform amidst assault allegations against him

Drum magazine reported on Thursday that Mampintsha’s manager, Lindo Buthelezi aka Dogg DBN alleged that the music platform allegedly didn’t follow the proper procedure before removing the star’s music.

The publication reported that the amount attached to the legal action is R10 million
“I have attempted to reach Apple but I have now handed over everything to my lawyers. We had a contractual agreement with Apple and upon hearing the news of Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo’s dispute, the store was supposed to consult with us and tell us why they would be removing our goods from the store.“Mampintsha has not been convicted by law and has paid Apple to load goods onto the store. On top of that, the store is getting a percentage of his products being on their store.”
Dogg labelled the removal of Mampintsha’s music from the platform as “unfair” and used criminal charges against US star Chris Brown as an example
He questioned how Chris Brown’s music was still available on the platform even though he pleaded guilty to assaulting his then girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 and was convicted in a court of law.
Taking to Instagram earlier this week Dogg also called out radio DJs for talk of boycotting Mampintsha’s music.
He issued a stern warning, saying that they would not be “bullied” by DJs as they did not own a radio station.
“You cannot make decisions based on your feelings or it is trendy. A radio station is a separate entity and should stay immune of personal agendas or decisions!”
Dogg’s comments came after a Canadian based radio personality DJ MC Bonde initially banned Mampintsha’s music but later U-turned on the decision.
MC Bonde said that he decided to revoke the ban after a conversation with Dogg about Mampintsha not yet being found guilty by the courts.
Apple Music/iTunes is yet to confirm or comment on the reported legal action by Mampintsha.
