Billboard’s 13th annual Women in Music event will hold on Dec. 6 in New York City.
According to Billboard, Janelle Monáe will be honoured at the said event accepting the trailblazer award.
The Trailblazer award is awarded to a female artist who acts as a pioneer in the music industry using her platform to focus on unseen voices and break the ground for future generations of artists. In the last decade, Monáe has worked to redefine how a black woman can be represented in popular culture. Her album, Dirty Computer, culminated in number 6 on the Billboard 200 album and the science fiction film project of the same name shows that there is no limitation on the exercise of her creativity in new ways. ...
