A Dutch museum says that a painting by Vincent van Gogh was stolen in a raid overnight. The Singer Laren museum east of Amsterdam says ‘Spring Garden’ by the Dutch master was stolen in the early hours of Monday. The museum is currently closed because of restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

Consuming lemon, garlic, ginger, palm oil does not protect against Coronavirus- NCDC

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC has warned against the false gist some Nigerians peddling about the Coronavirus disease. The NCDC in a post shared on Twitter warned that the consumption of lemon, ginger, garlic, palm oil doesn't protect or prevent against Coronavirus.

The agency also stated that drinking or spraying of dettol all over ones body doesn't kill Coronavirus.

Sierra Leone Lifts Ban on Pregnant Girls Attending School

 

A ban on pregnant girls attending school was overturned in Sierra Leone, following a fight spearheaded by human rights activists for 5 years.
The ban was introduced in the country in 2015 after a rise in rape, abuse and poverty during the deadly Ebola outbreak fueled a spike in teenage pregnancies.
While the government insisted that pregnant girls will be stressed out with attending school, exposed to ridicule and indirectly encourage other girls to get pregnant, critics held that the ban increased stigma and set thousands back in their studies.

Zimbabwe Sets -Week Lockdown, COVID-19

President Emmerson Mnangagwa declared a 21-day “total” lockdown from Monday curtailing movement within the country, shutting most shops and suspending flights in and out of Zimbabwe.
Police mounted checkpoints on routes leading to Harare’s central business district, stopping cars and turning away pedestrians who had no authorisation to be in the area.

Elsewhere truckloads of metropolitan and national police armed with batons were on patrol, ordering people back to their homes.

The Lagos state government confirmed that SMS messages received by residents over the age of 60 were sent from the Lagos State Resident Registration Authority (LASRRA). It claims to benefit from the stimulus food package Friday, March 27, 2020.

 

The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Prince Gbolahan Lawal, made the clarification in Lagos today, explaining that an SMS from the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) was sent to the aged asking them to reply with a “YES”, “FOOD YES” or “SWITCH YES” if their registered home address with the Agency remains valid.

Geto Boys rapper, Scarface shared his test after testing positive for a dead coronavirus in countries around the world.
On March 26, a live stream with bandmate Willie D revealed that Scarface had been sick for weeks on and off treatment, but had official results on Wednesday night.
A person from Houston revealed that the respiratory problems associated with the coronavirus were brutal to him because he also had asthma.
  He said he could barely breathe and that it “felt like there was an elephant sitting on his chest.”

The Wilsons were on Instagram Live with  La La Anthony on March 27. Anthony asked the “Work” crooner to share her personal prayer that led her into a healthy and happy marriage. Ciara revealed that she was intentional about the characteristics and traits that she was looking for in a future partner. In return, Wilson opened about what he was looking for in a partner and the five non-negotiable qualities he absolutely needed in his future

iROKOtv boss, Jason Njoku has revealed that his 73-year-old mother had just been discharged from the hospital suffering from the coronavirus and shared a terrible experience that family members thought she would lose.

Sharing photos of his mother in a hospital in the UK, he wrote: "My mum has been an @NHSuk healthcare worker for 25 years. 14-16th March she was ill at home with ALL the symptoms of Covid19. Mrs Njoku & I screamed at her to go to the hospital.

Coronavirus lockdown could last for 6 months or more - Top Medic officer warns

 British citizens have been warned that the coronavirus home lock-down could last for the next 6 months after UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson wrote to every household warning the 'national emergency' is going to get worse, with emphasis placed on social distancing, use of sanitizers and staying at home.

 Boris Johnson, who is under isolation after testing positive to the virus, had previously voiced optimism that the UK can end the outbreak within '12 weeks' but medical professionals see that optimism as too far fetched after the official UK coronavirus death toll rose by 209 in the last 48 hours from 1,019 to 1,228.

President Buhari Full Speech, Addressing the nation on COVID-19 pandemic

Fellow Nigerians, from the first signs that Coronavirus, or COVID-19 was turning into an epidemic and was officially declared a world-wide emergency, the Federal Government started planning preventive, containment and curative measures in the event the disease hits Nigeria.
The whole instruments of government are now mobilized to confront what has now become both a health emergency and an economic crisis.
Nigeria, unfortunately, confirmed its first case on 27^th February 2020. Since then, we have seen the number of confirmed cases rise slowly.

By the morning of March 29^th, 2020, the total confirmed cases within Nigeria had risen to 97.
Regrettably,we also had our first fatality, a former employee of PPMC,who died on 23^rd March 2020. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family in this very difficult time. We also pray for quick recovery for those infected and undergoing treatment.
As of today, COVID-19 has no cure. Scientists around the world are working very hard to develop a vaccine.
We are in touch with these institutions as they work towards a solution that will be certified by international and local medical authorities within the shortest possible time.
For now, the best and most efficient way to avoid getting infected is through regular hygienic and sanitary practices as well as social distancing.

A Downing Street spokesperson announced in a statement that Mr.Johnson tested positive for coronavirus 'after experiencing mild symptoms yesterday'

Confirming the news on Twitter, the 55-year-old wrote: 'Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this.

Toke Makinwa has being in self-isolation, after Lagos state government declared that they were at risk of contracting coronavirus.

 News reports that this comes after the Lagos state commissioner for health, Akin Abayomi, on Tuesday said that celebrities who graced the 7th Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) may have been exposed to coronavirus infection.
The event, held on 14 March in Victoria Island, Lagos, was attended by top Nigerian entertainers.

In their reactions, she celebrities took to their social media handles to declare that they were in self-isolation already, while also admonishing others to do same.
Makinwa, who was the host of the event wrote ”I hope you and yours are keeping safe, thank you l for your messages and prayers, I worked at the #AMVCA, I have been off air and self isolating, making TikTok videos to entertain you, not sharing unverified information and just trying to keep my mind active. US offers $15m reward for information leading to arrest of Venezuela’s President, Nicolás Maduro

The United States Government has offered a $15m reward for any information leading to the arrest of Venezuela’s President, Nicolás Maduro.

The announcement came after the United States Department of Justice indicted Venezuela's socialist leader Nicolas Maduro and several key aides on charges of narco-terrorism on Thursday March 26.

Miguel Barbosa claims the poor are immune to the coronavirus while the rich are at risk

Miguel Barbosa, governor of the city of Puebla said poor people are immune to the coronavirus as he argued that majority of the country's cases are wealthy people.

The politician said: 'If you are rich, you are at risk. If you are poor, no... We poor people, we are immune.'

But several scientists have criticized Mr. Barbosa over his claims, calling him an 'idiot' and saying his theory was 'incredibly stupid'.

 Yagazie Emezie alerted the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, about her father's friends who have refused to do the ''right thing'' amid the coronavirus crisis.

Taking to Twitter, Yagazie asked NCDC for numbers for whistle blowers so she could give names of her father's friends who returned from overseas, refused to isolate but instead go to Sports Club daily.
