Buhari overwhelmed by insecurity – Obasanjo

The Presidency, on the other hand, claimed that the Army is well-equipped with fighter jets and other armaments under the APC, that Boko Haram is being pushed from every inch of Nigerian territory, and that ISWAP's leader was killed in a Nigerian airstrike.

"Now that the APC has taken control of the government, there are ranches on federal and state land that are eager to be established."
Clashes are less frequent.
People's lives are saved, and their livelihoods are improved.

"Today, with the APC, we support our national currency; we have achieved self-sufficiency in rice and fertilizer production; we refuse to allow greedy politicians and businesses to hide their money overseas, and instead work to establish an economy for all Nigerians."

It also accused the main opposition of "robbing the NNPC," accusing them of constantly failing to deliver.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says the government of President Muhammadu Buhari has been overwhelmed by insecurity.

The main opposition was also accused of "robbing the NNPC," neglecting to pay into the Federation Account on a regular basis, and "in the last year of PDP misrule, $20 billion was simply found'missing.'"

The Presidency stated that through APC, NNPC monies are used directly and transparently to fund social and health programs such as the COVID-19 response, road, bridge, and rail projects, and hospital equipment to deal with new and current difficulties.

Obasanjo was responding to the recent Kaduna train incident, in which eight people were killed and many more were injured.
Nigerians are no longer safe on the streets, in trains, or at airports, according to Obasanjo.

He urged for a determined effort to reverse Nigeria's tide of insecurity, lamenting the fact that the Buhari administration had been overwhelmed by the situation.

He warned Nigerians, however, not to let the current circumstances overwhelm the country.

He explained that no one can claim to have a solution to the nation's problems, which is why he welcomes anybody who comes to see him with open arms.

He made the remarks while entertaining a People's Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Dr. Ugochukwu Williams, in his Penthouse apartment within the grounds of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

“The situation we are in this country is not a situation where one man will say yes, he has a solution, unless we are deceiving ourselves. I believe we need to sit down collectively and look at the situation,” he said.

Obasanjo described the situation as one “where you are not safe on the road, you are not safe in the train, you are not safe at the airport.”

“That shows a very serious situation,” the ex-President lamented.

He suggested that “all right-thinking Nigerians must know that we have a situation that has overwhelmed the present administration,” warning, however, that “we should not allow that situation to overwhelm Nigeria.”
