Kenashia Douglas chats with Angie Martinez, alongside her sister, Ashanti, Kenashia shared she was abused by a man she had been in a relationship with for 13 years and they were engaged to be married.
Kenashia publicly dated and announced her engagement to entrepreneur Slowbucks in December 2016.
According to Kenashia, the abuse began in the last two to three years of the relationship to the point where he “broke her teeth.”
Tina Douglas, the girls’ mother, stated in and said:
Me and Ashanti were together. We had just woken up. We were like, ‘What’s going on?’
Because they were out that night – she came home…jaw broken…we had to get out the door we had to take her to the emergency room.
It was very traumatic…blood on the walls in the elevator.
She was like, ‘He hit me…he hit me!’ And I was like, ‘Who?’
And then I just went crazy.
In a video Kenashia Douglas released on her 31st birthday, she revealed she suffered a miscarriage and she shared heartbreaking footage of her injuries from her abusive relationship.
Following the interview with Angie, Kenashia took to Instagram writing:
On 11.11 I sat Down and spoke about my experience with domestic abuse publicly for the very first time. The message is clear; We are Raising awareness and Consciousness. Healing and Discovering self.. transmuting Darkness into light..
