Mr Macaroni has opened up about one of the hardest financial periods of his life, publicly thanking the people who stood by him when he needed help.
Mr Macaroni posted his reflection on X after people began sharing stories about his generosity. He said he cried reading accounts of things he had done for people, many of which he no longer remembered.
Around the same time, veteran actor Peter Fatomilola publicly recalled Mr Macaroni giving him ₦200,000 after one movie shoot and ₦1 million for another job, while also giving money to his son and grandson.
His followers subsequently responded with their own “receipts” of his generosity. One follower recalled Mr Macaroni giving money to videographers; another said he received $200 each for himself and colleagues during an encounter with Mr Macaroni.
He admitted that he was accustomed to giving rather than receiving, adding that he often found it difficult to ask anyone for help.
“I am used to always giving and hardly ever receiving because everyone thought I had in abundance.”
Mr Macaroni revealed that an unnamed person repeatedly helped him settle his debts during the difficult period, describing the intervention as something he believed could only have happened through God.
He singled out Don Jazzy, saying the music executive had supported him since his university days and continued to do so.
“To Don Jazzy, who has been giving me since my university days up till now, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do, not just for me but for so many others!!!”
He thanked Victor Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji for their support during the difficult period, although he did not disclose the specific nature or amount of their assistance.
We often notice the person handing out the money, opening a door or showing up for someone else. We don't always see the moment that same person needs someone to show up for them.
In Mr Macaroni's case, the people he says helped him were not only helping him financially. They were reminding him that the giver can also need a giver. That is why his gratitude sounds bigger than a simple thank-you.
Have you ever realised that someone you thought had everything was quietly going through their own difficult season?
