What happens when Kim Kardashian decides to stop dressing like Kim Kardashian for Halloween?
The reality star and SKIMS founder surprised fans by transforming herself into her 13-year-old daughter for Halloween 2026, recreating North’s increasingly recognizable emo-goth aesthetic almost detail for detail.
Kardashian unveiled the transformation on Instagram on October 20, sharing a series of photographs and videos captioned “Halloween 2026.”
The resemblance was intentional.
Kim wore a long turquoise-blue wig, dramatic lashes, faux facial piercings, a black grill and heavily decorated nails. She completed the look with a black-and-white striped long-sleeved top underneath a skull-and-crossbones graphic T-shirt, a pleated skirt, chunky high-top sneakers, spiked accessories and North's distinctive skull necklace.
She even copied one of North's recognizable poses, placing her hand over her mouth.
For a moment, some fans genuinely had to look twice to determine whether they were seeing Kim or North.
Kim could have dressed as almost anyone.Instead, she chose her daughter.
That makes the costume more than just another elaborate Kardashian Halloween transformation. It is also a playful acknowledgement of North's developing fashion identity.
North has increasingly experimented with alternative fashion, blue hair, grills, faux piercings and darker, punk-inspired styling. Her appearance has generated plenty of online commentary, including criticism from people who believe the aesthetic is too mature or unconventional for her age.
North has pushed back against some of that criticism, arguing that people should not judge her personality simply because of the way she dresses. She has also clarified that some of her facial piercings are fake.
Kim is showing North: “I see your style”
Rather than merely defending North's fashion choices verbally, she temporarily stepped into them herself.
She copied the hair.
She copied the accessories.
She copied the makeup.
She copied the pose.
In other words, Kim did not just dress like North. She recreated North's visual language.
That makes the Halloween costume feel almost like a mother-daughter fashion tribute.
Celebrity children often grow up under intense public scrutiny, particularly when their parents are already global brands.
Every hairstyle, outfit and unusual fashion choice can become a conversation.
North's evolving style is therefore not happening privately. Her experimentation is taking place in front of millions of people.
Kim's Halloween transformation offered a different response to that attention: instead of distancing herself from her daughter's aesthetic, she embraced it—and turned it into the Halloween costume herself.
And judging by the reactions, the resemblance was remarkably convincing.
So, was Kim Kardashian simply having fun for Halloween—or was becoming North West the ultimate mother-daughter fashion statement?
